Pickleball! Why These 2.5 Players Are 2.5 Players. Learn By Watching Others! 

@pickleballpick-apart - Thanks for your brutally honest assessment. I was the player in black farside and admin for “Pickleball Chumps”. I started recording my play to see exactly how/what I was doing on the court. Everything you pointed out is always going through my head. The player in grey has not grasped the concept of “Serve and Stay”. In this game I didn’t have much opportunity to third shot drop. But you are correct in assuming that most players at this level don’t grasp the concept of the first three or even five shots to get a rally started. Feel free to pick apart more games from the channel, as I have over 1300 assets in there. YES, more bad play!

My wife and I are in our high 60,s after two lessons we wish we could keep the ball in play this long.

The guy in the blue long sleeve is covering the middle with his backhand, while his right handed partner, for some reason stays too far away from the center line..

Painful to watch. But no better way to learn than to see your errors play out on the court. Your channel is one of the few that gives any attention to beginner play.

This was painful to watch, but folks at the 2.5 - 2.9 level need to view it at least twice. This beginner level skill set is *not* enjoyable. I was stuck at this level for a year. What made a difference for me was taking lessons, drilling, and moving to a dedicated pickleball club where players are serious about improving.

The importance of getting to the NVL quickly was pointed out to me early on, but when playing against a much better team they suggested to my partner and I that we had to be in control. Too often they were able to hit shots at us as we were running, so their advice was to move quickly, but come to a stable ready position wherever we were when they started to hit it.

I did not see the players on both sides being in the ready position. More often than not, their paddles were hanging down by their legs.

I seen 3.0 players that are like these players not interested improving their skill, just get the serve and return in driving ball as hard as they can.

I sometimes creep in depending on who's returning. We have a few that like hitting very shallow returns

Its easy to get stuck at this level if you dont play with better players. Its okay if this is a close group of friends that just enjoy playing and having fun.

New players have so much fun

Honestly, I'd much rather see video break downs of 4.5 + players. These are a waste of time to watch.
