The harmonics of the cleaner settings from the Gibson's alone took down the Bare Knuckle pups. So much top end missing from the Bare Knuckles in my opinion. Not saying they didn't sound good though but those clean high end harmonics kill me every time, so damn musical.
The BK is dark and confusing about the clean tone. However, it was cool in waves of distortion. In my opinion, the P94 is more balanced and even warmer at the moment of distortion. I get the P94 feeling.
Definitely Gibson P94! They do sound more 'Gibson' than Bare Knuckle. The Bare Knuckles have more sparkle, some kind of brightness sprinkled from Fender type single coils. This is a valid and usable sound. But Gibsons have more sweet midrange to them that cuts better in a band situation. Good job, Gibson!
BKPs seem to have more top end and clarity, but less transience than the gibsons. If Im puttin in a hum sized P90, I want the transience. Can’t believe it but I think I prefer the Gibsons
This is ho every pickup comparison should be! That's a cool pickup system. What do you have to do to the pickups to make them interchangeable like that are there special connections?
building my dream stratocaster right now, working to convert the HSS into an SSS with a Gibson P-94. can’t for the life of me find a cream white one to match the singles that I’m equipping the guitar with. any tips on finding rare gear, maybe any idea where i could find one that isn’t black?
GFS Mean 90 or GFS Dream 90. This is one of those weird situations where Guitar Fetish developed a better humbucker sized p90 than Gibson. Either of those pickups are superior to a P94, and come in cream.
What kind of connectors are used for the pickups? I'd like to mod my guitar like this.. I have 3 sets of pickups that would be nice if I could swap out without having to solder
say what guitar is that ? I know it's a les Paul but swapping pickups out thru the back ? absolutely the bomb man !!! great video all the best Sir thanks.
Sounds great, but I much prefer my '98 blonde epi dot armed with two Rio Grande P-90 Fat Bastards pickups ( I use a Roland Blues Cube Hot 30w amp with a mini Tube Screamer) It just sounds mean! .. the P94 on this video sound somewhat tame.
I’m building a frankenstrat of sorts, and PLEEEEASE tell me exactly how you made this fast-switch pickup system. I’d love to be able to switch pickups this effortlessly
My favorite part is the way they’re back-loaded - is it a magnetic connection that keeps them in place? I’d absolutely love it if you’d make a video showing how you’ve got this guitar setup to do this
Trogly recently did a video on this guitar - apparently its a demo guitar Gibson sent to guitar shops for customers to try out different pickups. No idea on availability. Probably rare and expensive
@@zacharykim295 I would absolutely love to find a tutorial on how to make a guitar that can swap pick ups this easily. If they did it to this one, that is proof that it CAN be done. Now, just “how”…
yes you can definitely, P94s fit humbucker slots. If you have a soldering iron, the seymour duncan website has great wiring diagrams plus youtube will help you also.
@@Virmax5701 no worries man. It's very unlikely you'll fuck the guitar up swapping the pickups in. Just make sure you do your research and watch some videos. Make sure your iron and the wires plus the pots are all tinned when you go to solder them in, makes life easier.
@@jnuhjnuh I love my BKP, and I'm really not at all a fan of Gibson, but whether or not he's a "fanboy", Gibson fully intended to voice it "like a Gibson" so it stayed consistent with their brands characteristic tones. It's just in a different package. Also, these pickups have completely different magnets, so the brand is irrelevant when you're not even hearing the closest bkp equivalent to the P-94.
I put the P94 in my National LP in bridge postition and a dimarzio Dp224 in the neck pos it sounds amazing but think the P94 was meant as a neck pickup cant remeber now which P94 I got now ill have to check it out but blows alot of new Gibsons away and since the guitar was $150 think i did real well also used gibson 500k pots im mostly happy with the sound may change them later on if i find that i put a neck pup in the bridge postion it was 10 years ago
Well for P90s you usually use the same pots as for your humbuckers. I am assuming that p94s would also be the same. According to Wolfe Mcleod of Wolfetone pickups when talking about ordinary p90s: "500k on both (volume and tone pots). IMO, the .047 caps roll off way too much high end. I prefer .022. Maybe .033 at the most. 500k pots for P90s, always. Of course, everyone has their own likes, no harm in trying a 500/300 mix." Some Gibson p90 equipped guitars used a mixture of one 500K and one 300K. Others 500 and 500.
If you’d like to hear the Gibson P94T in a hard edged rock ‘n roll setting played through a Marshall DSL40c, check it out here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_qlpNBk6ymI.html The P94T is in the left speaker. On the right is a Seymour Duncan P-Rails pickup in P90 mode.
Why wasting it with effects ? Too many videos with that problem, how can, you have an opinion on anything in these circumstances ? Just don't understand...
@@marcusedwardusaurelius5455 so why no sound without effects ??? There are so much different effects (and so many choices for each) and they all react differently according to the amps that for me it's just useless, and keeps from earing the sound of the gear that is tested. Not talking about overdrive and distortion, but about these delays and reverbs that are in too many videos.
