I bought another one of these things witch has the save function and idk if it has something to do with the save function but I put one game and it works fine. But if I try to change the game to something else it doesn't work.it works fine on the first one
Does the second one you bought have those extra holes that look like you can solder some other breakout board on? I wonder if those solder holes are for adding a micro SD slot breakout board. Also I wonder if those rpi pico clones will ever get a 32 or 64MB version or if there is some limitation of the pico preventing them from making clones over 16MB. I wonder if the new pi pico 2 with the RP2350 chip would help if there are limitations on the flash size for the RP2040. Would be great to get SD and or WiFi loading on pico With 64MB of flash
@@reddoggames3011 huh I just saw some other fork project called dream drive 64 but it seems like it is hardware overkill It says it uses 2 Rpi pico RP2040 chips and an esp32 for the WiFi plus some extra flash memory chips. I wonder if they could just use one RP2350 W instead. Or one pico W instead of needing to add the esp32 just for WiFi I mean one pico W and one non W ,either the 2040 or 2350 I am not even sure if the dream drive is complete yet but it sounds like it is getting close to the price of an ever drive clone with all that extra hardware, also it has the SD loading and potential for WiFi loading
I've been having so much fun putting Pi Pico and RP2040s in all of my consoles (Switch, XBox, GameCube so far), but I might pass on this one. The ROM size limit is kind of a deal breaker for me. Maybe there will be an update to the Pi Pico or SD card support for this board at some point.
It costs twice as much but tbh one of the other devices might be worth the higher cost, simply because it will work on more N64s and has more space, you can also use an SDcard and load as many roms as you can fit...
What would happen if you tried to load a game larger than 16 MB? I ordered one to run a SSB Remix tournament (ROM size is 64 MB) but I just realized there's a limit.
@@reddoggames3011 ok gotcha, thanks for the info! I stumbled across the Daisy drive 64 from here, and that seems like another really affordable option with more functionality than the Pico drive. It’s all interesting stuff.
Bought it, flashed it. And it doesn't seem to work on motherboard revision 8 unfortunately. Any insight on getting it to work? Wish I would have read the description.
There are a bunch of games that save using password or memory pak. Could also just use it for those and homebrew that don't rely on saving settings etc.
