@@Nuisance_Bear I already created a character template called "Bob Hroth." He's going to be a Hrothgar Pictomancer. He has the 'fro from Gold Saucer and will have the appropriate attire once Dawntrail releases.😅
It was actually pretty damn ingenious. He had me completely fooled this time. Combining both jobs into a single shirt he wore once? I mean, once vpr was revealed I thought “ohhhh. I get it. Leonardo uses dual swords, is a reptile and is green. That was neat.” And my brain shut off the flow right there. Then someone recently mentioned picto as a possibility to me and I was totally flabbergasted. I just could not make the connection until I remembered that shirt and then it was like the most obvious hint in the world 😂
@@TheMetroidblade honestly, I was hesitant they would go in that direction strictly based on how Relm worked. I thought it would feel a bit too much like blu and would honestly just be a better use of their resources to make blu a normal job. I am very happy with their ingenuity in making the picto work in an mmo setting and giving it a very distinct aesthetic and functionality
I want to touch the AST gear SO bad. The velvet texture is beautiful! When I first saw it I was disappointed too then as I looked at it longer I appreciated it more and more.
The female Hrothgar GNB toward the end was DOPE. I’ve been a MALE Au’ra since the beginning but I might have to switch to FEMALE Hrothgar. Her run animation is nice too!
I was watching last night and I thought the EXACT same thing. Been a male Au'Ra since HW, played a Viera for ShB for shits and giggles but Female Hroth GNB might be my shit for a long time.
Yeah man I like what they did with Femgar! I might have to temp swap from my Femroe dommy-mommy for a patch or two too like I did with Viera. Being an old FFXI player my first character was Mithra, and they seem to have pulled off the Mommy Mithra look I was hoping for really well!
Thats why i watch MrHappy, calm, collected, ofc his long time expertise in Final Fantasy Franchise, subjective feedback/critique without provocative comments and drama for clicks!
Allagans still as misguided as ever, save an empire by downloading themselves into a digital rebuilding of it. Now that is genius engineering while simultaneously being truly pathetic.
@@babarrett1 That and Meracidia (I probably butchered the spelling) are the last 2 connections to the old game we haven’t explored…or at least we don’t know if we are exploring Allag. But it makes sense for them to be so self-centered they did what the Asians would do: try to live forever.
Here’s the thing you have to think about with the AST gear that might change your mind: That’s a velvet texture. When you realize that’s Velvet, it’s incredibly impressive. Maybe you don’t like the style and I can understand that… but as a show case for Velvet, it’s amazing.
Literally I’m so mesmerized by the velvet texture! It’s so satisfying and the dress is simple but I don’t mind it at all! I think it’ll look really nice in-game. 💜
This now confirms that new jobs are added to the game not based on player demand or anything, but by how well they can hide a reference based on whats currently in YoshiP’s closet 😂
Exactly, they are going with the most boring jobs and nothing that fans want. Of course there will be one here or there that want it, but not the majority. Its going to be a bad expansion. Probably lowest turnout of any expansion. Then they'll learn and it will be A New World Reborn and the following expansion will finally get back on track and then many will come back to play.
@@Spirit-FilledMindset actually im seeing a lot of excitement for viper and pictomancer... pictomancer been in 1 game, and lot of people wanted a pure melee duel wield class...
Ishgard housing was announced 2 expansions before release, fenrir bike was the same. SE has the habbit of waiting till people forget about something before releasing it
Not really out of character for FF. Lots of FF games mix swords, guns, technology, and the modern world. We already have what are basicslly cell phones. As well as garlean magitek.
I mean that sounds like Final Fantasy in a nutshell, FF1 had the Lufenians which were an advance race of people before they were taken down by something. FF6 is known for its Magitech. Final Fantasy has always meshed Magic with Tech since its very beginning and this is no different.
Hey, I played the game so I don't care, but you're giving a SERIOUSLY MASSIVE spoiler for people who haven't yet. Give a warning or something for the others ffs
@@iPlayOnSpica the opening trailor and cgi for ff10 had blitzball as a main feature... so it not a spoiler as is the "its a simulation" there limits to the power of a spoiler...
I admit the ONE disappointment I had was seeing the Shinryu skip(or restructure), since it was my most anticipated(I loved the Shinryu fight and I'm a Stormblood liker.) THAT said, I kind of know what you mean about SB's structure being very different(Shinryu was named by Domans, he's created via Ilberd's sacrifice, he's tied to Zenos who transforms into him again, etc.) I also heard another theory that they wanna save Shinryu for an Endwalker ultimate, given he did play a pretty big role there helping you save the universe and all, and they didn't want to have like, a major Shinryu presence in two Ultimates. Which has some logic to it? (I wonder what they'd DO for a 2nd Stormblood based one then, if that's the case. Four Lords maybe would make the most sense I'd say.) All that said, it makes me wonder now if they'll end up repurposing Hades or Pandaemonium given the strong Ascian/Ancient presence in both of them. (Come to think of it, if they had kept with the pattern, we'd have gotten Shinryu-Eden-Hades-Pandaemonium...two big Ancient themed ones in a row.) All in all tho I'm extremely hype. My arse is gonna be spending SO much time in Solution Nine. I love me some future worlds. Space exploration? Viper? Another exploration zone? Can't wait to see the mounts and such too.
I’m a little disappointed that it wasn’t The Four Lords Ultimate, where we would fight all 4 Auspices, which would culminate with us fighting Koryu at its full strength.
There are two Ultimates per expansion, so it may still happen in a later patch. Omega wasn't announced or even hinted at until 2 patches after DSR had been out.
I can see them wanting to save Shinryu for an Endwalker ultimate, so that the minstrel can play out a scenario with you fighting Zenos in his dragon form instead of human at the end of the universe (the dynamis will probably turn him into Neo-Shinryu or something like that).
I can see the other Scions being on the other side of the succession "war" and some sort of instance MSQ team fight maybe. We have Thancred as tank, Shakespear as healer, Krile as new DPS and us. The other side would have the Twins as DPS and healer, G'raha can PLD and Tola as DPS. Then add in MSQ characters and we might get some big instance battle like the end of 5.X
As much as I would like to see those idiots smack each other around, I wouldn’t count on it. They’re probably just gonna bicker and argue while you do all the work.
I think the poster is showing us the oposing sides. us +krile and erinvile suporting the hroghtgar lady thancred an urianger suporting almaljon. the twins are on our side if you look at the summary for dt or at least they start at our side. the summary says; As hope's light dawns once more. a hero looks to new horisons. Alongside Alphinaud, Alisaie and erenville, the warrior of light embarks upon a journey across the indigo deep.
this is my problem with ffxiv. Everything seems like another language. dialogue is hyper fancy, names are wild, locations and shit is all just...weird. reading your comment is like reading a different language
It was a great Keynote. I knew it had to be from the amount of stuff they were holding back but now that we have it all its exciting. I loved everything they showed. Lots to look forward to this year in gaming, this being one of them.
Eden is the first ultimate I'm gonna do. I joined in shadow bringers, Shiva was the first savage I beat, and the time mechanics of Gaia are still my favorite mechanics to date. I'm so excited to see how they expand on them. Gaia and Ryne junction?!
I'm wildly interested in computer city. I have no idea how we're gonna get there, I really hope it's something other than Allagans. Ya know it reminds me a lot of PSO2.
@@twig4590Tbf we already know what Blitzball is. There’s a version of it already out there. There isn’t a draft for Dawntrails story out. Very different things. I honestly don’t think they’d make Blitzball play different if they added it. Wouldn’t that ruin the point for people who want it?
I think they have to use some GCD to target an enemy with first to "paint" them to increase their gauge and then use another part of their job gauge as paint for resource to summon their Art as attacks 🤔 I am theorizing tbh, totally unsure lol.
I think the translation changes that you just passed by at 10:10 is way more interesting. He stated that from now on the FF14 translation is canon and every new FF game will have them. And also that these kind of changes could happen to other languages. But he also said that now the FF6 Pictomancer is called Piktomant in German. So is SE working on a FF6 remake, were this change would take place?
My own nitpick is with how small chest is on the fem Hrothgar, that they would've made them a bit more beastial like the Charr from GW2, ah well, still 100% for them finally ^_^
Happy I just returned to ffxiv December of last year and I have to say bro you look so healthy and full of life man good job whatever you're doing keep it up.
the four lords would make for a better stormblood ultimate than the msq Edit: no kidding about that wall with the graphics updates. Look how porous that stone is.
I figured it would be Pictomancer, but I had some hopium for Green Mage. I am very sad now. I just want them to have all the mage colors. Edit: Just want to say, I don't hate Pictomancer and am excited to try it. I just really wanted Green Mage,
Before 6.5, I was all in on Pictomancer (though, due to a mob in The Heroes' Gauntlet, I was convinced it was going to be called Ink Mage). 6.5 definitely left me convinced it would be Green Mage though. But I'm happy to be wrong. The idea of Green Mage upset me to no end, and Pictomancer fit perfectly. Between the shirt, Relm the original Pictomancer being the granddaughter of Strago, a Blue Mage (with Blue Magic in 14 originating in Tural)... It just fit
Yeah, was recently helping a friend clear MSQ and I noticed the Ink Mages in Heroe's Gauntlet, and I just prayed that the new job would be it. So glad it is!
That is actually a really good point! I forgot about the blu/picto correlation between Strago and Relm! I saw someone mention picto fairly recently and I was like “… how in the world did you come to that one?” Then I thought about his TMNT shirt and it just suddenly hit me like a truck: renaissance artists. I had discounted the shirt once vpr was revealed because Leonardo is in the middle of the shirt, uses two swords, and is a reptile. It honestly didn’t occur to me at all it could also point to the second job at the time lol Like you, 6.5 had me convinced it would be green mage or something entirely new like leprechaun or something 😂
@@sakuram69 The shirt also connects to Relm specifically because Relm's father was Shadow, a ninja. The shirt was way too perfect for Picto that I was actually upset when I thought it was Green Mage
@@ALeafOnTheWind42 omg you’re right. It has been so long since I played ff6 I totally forgot about Shadow! Now I’m curious if they will continue with the ff6 train and give Interceptor as the standard bst pet/ability/whatever. Picto had better get an Ultros spell or something…
I wonder if they will ever address their crappy multi website account management systems. they could easily follow, say blizzard, etc.. not buy expac here, then apply codes there, etc etc. its pretty daunting as is. hopefully they will fix this mess! thanks for the summary Mr happy, good stuff!
Viper didn’t grab me with how familiar it looks to NIN (of course gonna have to ultimately wait to pick it up) but Pictomancer looks fun! I’m not sure what the main gimmick is going to be (beyond painting theme of course) but I do like the animations! The effects look almost cel-shaded? Idk it looks interesting. Definitely will be picking it up and taking it through the MSQ.
I think it'll have a similar thing to Dancer or Ninja, and use a combo of buttons to mix up paint colors to then use to paint a picture for an attack. Maybe that could be how they buff the party and debuff enemies. Something else they could do is spray the ground with different paintings to give buffs or mitigation to the party, or deal AOE damage. I could see this all, given how eager they are to curb button bloat. so if we have four colors to mix, we could have pretty much as many combinations as they want.
Viper looks amazing to me, and Pictomancer looks kinda..... meh. I'll try to wait to see how they play though, because I didn't think I'd like RPR at all, and I have a lot of fun with it.
@14:30 To be honest? I think it's on one of the Reflections. Remember what Emet said... "Some of the civilizations in the reflections will surprise you". We're wrapping up the Thirteenth, and well... Y'shtola has been wanting to find ways to visit the other Reflections. Maybe this is in one of them. This is kind of odd, because I was just playing Saints Row 4 again just recently and to see this is kinda like lol.
For solution nine, a lot of people keep saying Allagan, but the architecture and theme isn't really Allagan at all in my eyes. I think it's something different or possibly branched off but not directly involved. Considering this is in the "new world", its possible that there was a completely different civilization evolving similarly to the Allagans but far removed from them. Your idea of it being a digital space is also plausible as well considering what happened when Dalamud hit the tower. Also if you look closely at the key art for Heritage Found, it doesn't look like a tower in the back it looks like a huge orb. Like Cocoon from FF13 or...well...another Dalamud. If that city is inside that orb as we're assuming, then I am desperate for answers.
Dude. I haven't watched you in a while and all I can say is that you look great. It looks like you are been eating better and working out. I love to see it!!!!
note for the map for tural both north and south, the little part further south is what i suspect would be the fable underwater cities of merycidia obscured by clouds , and further on the possibilities are endless.
The "maybe new races after all" was the biggest surprise to me. Though, after the previous fan fest where they talked about standardizing geometry and systems for character models might have made making new races easier. Plus, also allowing more headgear for races it's been harder before. Anyway, i'm curious to see what could possibly be any new race in the future.
I got so burned out on this game and it's general design philosophy that I don't know if I'll ever play it again, but one major thing that would get me to consider playing again is if they continue to move further from the scions we've been travelling with so far to introduce more new characters.
I'm pretty happy with that roegadyn show because I was worried there might be extremely drastic changes to their features, and I'm glad it doesn't look like it's too drastic. I love that they have different facial structures (at least in the nose region) from the other races. I don't want them to just be giant green, purple, and red humans. Meanwhile it looks like the shadow updates will help so much with the plasticky look they (and a lot of other skin shades really) get when in darker lighting.
I was one of those who thought it was going to be Pictomancer. Looks like it might be a fun job, but the twin-blade Viper job is SO my new main once this drops. The Solution Nine location is very Cyberpunk-esque.
At 31:24 in video. The shot of the 'computer city', did anyone else notice the image, just left of dead center. That looks like a projection of a Acsian Mask! The red projection they create over their faces! WTF. Is that just a coincidence because I don't think anything in FF14 is ever a coincidence!
One thing to note about Solution 9, is that all the signage uses the proto-alphabet from Encyclopaedia Eorzea 3 - which the Lopporits also use. This likely means Ancients.
The female rothgar showcase at the end was made in a sort of nod to the FFXI character creation screen, not sure if anyone noticed. Those poses are somewhat the poses the character goes through there. Kinda neat little detail. 🥲
The bew "Solution 9" town has screamed PSO vibes for me since first shown, even got excal NN to agree with that after pointing out some stuff. If it is PSO like that also fits with the possibility of it being a digital alt reality
If they hid Amaurot, them revealing this to us tells us that Solution 9 is very Amaurot 2. The language is even proto Etheirys language so I definitely think this Ascian as opposed to "Lol Allagans". And it being Solution 9 makes me believe its where the noise originated ahead of the Final Days. Maybe this was the 9th solution that would work for the inhabitants
So the text in Solution Nine is the proto-alphabet from the recent lore book, which is unused post-sundering outside of The First. Some food for thought. I think it's going to be related to the Ancients due to that one fact. As allag used modern eorzean.
Putting guess out there! The new field ops will be assaults or nyzul from ffxi, seems like they’re taking a lot from ToAU and I wouldn’t be surprised if they went with one of the interesting endgames
Eureka Anemos was 4.25. Pagos was 4.36 (1 month after HoH in 4.35). Bozja was 5.35, DR was 5.45, and Zadnor was 5.55. I still think the first (and probably only) zone will be later. I'd love to have it earlier, though. I don't think they gave us a name because they haven't even completely settled on one yet.
So Encyclopaedia Eorzea III says that the Source and all of its reflections occupy the same physical space but its sort of like an object placed between two mirrors facing each other. Hydaelyn probably fractured Etheirys local spacetime when she sundered the world and each reflection is inside its own little pocket as if said mirrors had been shattered.
It seems that they're trying to go with a theme of "Fun!!" this time around. I think it might be a good contrast with the doom and gloom of the past. Don't get me wrong, "Doom and Gloom" was a helluva lot of fun, but they need to do something different and contrasting if they want to stay fresh. I'm looking forward to this, but I'm an unabashed fanboy of this game, it's the only MMO that I've enjoyed almost as much as I did the first few years of WoW.
You can't enjoy the despair of the valley if you don't occasionally glimpse the joy of the peak. A rollercoaster loses a lot of effect without the climb. Whatever other generic metaphor that can be applied. Bottom line is, yes, you're definitely right. It's how writing should always be. Grimdark is always best when there's some joy to give you hope. But also, I don't think FF should be grimdark in the first place, at least not 14. I adore ShB and EW, don't get me wrong, best part of the game, but I also really want my upbeat adventures with that same level of quality.
@@TheRetifoxsadly thats not gonna happen, combat is gonna continue to get simplified and as always the game will continue with the same formula yoshi likes to play it safe and dont wanna innovate the game
@@songoku6067 I'm going to hold my tongue on that topic when we get closer to the expansion release and we get more information before making any assumptions on that topic as I know most players will do.
@@silxer3154 Id agree on the assumptions part but we had 4 expacs now that has all shown the direction that the devs are taking and i highly doubt that is going to change
You can really tell the devs played Cyberpunk. The new city takes a lot of inspiration from how Night City looks like. As for Pictomancer, I wonder if they might allow us to customize the look of some spells? The image at 6:24 is what makes me think that they may allow for some customization, similar to adventurer plates. You could chose different presets to put your favourite image together which will be shown when using x or y spell. Maybe I'm just dreaming, but that would be pretty cool.
The poster depict WoL team in succession race, I believe. So we will fight against yshtola, alisaie , alphinaud and Graha in the other team. Hopefully the second poster for that team will be shown later
Final Fantasy XI had Pictomancer in the form of Soul Plates and Soul Trappers. Basically a camera that put monster images onto a plate and they could be summoned to do PVP controlled or VS computer controlled opponents in a "Pankration" arena. (Pokemon battles basically).
