I just finished this quad as my very first build all thanks to ur tutorial videos man! I have the blade vortex and conspiracy 220 but this thing flies better than both of those and I haven't even done any tuning yet! I'm gonna put ur PID's in, in the morning and see how it does. I only flew a couple packs thru it today with no tuning and I was blown away! I couldn't have done it without ur videos bro. Thank you so much and I'm gonna make a donation to ur patreon as well.
I really enjoy watching your tuning vids. They really are helping me get my head around how to go about tuning my quads. Keep it up bud and Happy Thanksgiving!
Yeah, you will be VERY hard pressed to fine a copter that doesn't need tuning off of stock. Betaflight will make it fly fine, but can always be improved.
Hi from the UK have followed your channel since my first build the Robocat your video helped me a lot as a total total newbie and we have seemed to follow the same builds since I should add I did not use the escs with my Gearbest build:) I moved from Gearbest to Banggood for the 210 x frame they have though Gearbest one definitely looks a lot better but I don't have your skills so went for the cheaper one. I am going to try your settings on mine as its a very very similar setup but pid tuning is a new maze for me and realize I will have to adjust further but huge difference you end up with there to base settings. Mostly I have to thank you for your video's your awesome and a great help to us newcomers !
Thanks for that. Your video helps more than the "can you hear the difference?" made by some of the other Pros where the Kwad seems to fly perfectly throughout the entire video. Or the ones by the techies that are talking about things i also could not see in the video. Got startet with your method and for me it works. Not there yet but better than everything i tried befor.
my pids was very similar less the D, that is because of your previous tuning video and I used as reference for my tuning, thanks a lot for this videos.
Great video, thanks for helping others. You answered a question I had. Now I know why my motors sound like they are over working when I put tri props on. Great video and keep on coming
The RCAddict LHI MT2206 1900 KV and little been 20a esc, mutishot. Any thoughts. my frame is a LHI 210. I tried to adjust the d gain. It appears the quad does not like 5045 tripods. I switched to single and it sounds and flies great. put those tris on and the motors sound like there pulsing.
Rae Williams 4inch? That would be even worse. KV is the amount of RPMs per volt applied. Since the smaller the prop is the easier it is to turn, you want a higher RPM for it. 3inch props normally run about 3000-4000kv, 4inch 2600-3000, 5inch 2300-2600, and 6inch 1900-2300kv.
I've seen most of your Vids & never really commented! But after this Video I had to Drop a comment!... BIG THANKS! From your Subs!... you have some Great Vids very Helpful, This Video is awesome cuz you made it easy to follow!... its people like you & videos like this that makes this RC community GREAT!...👍🏻
Thanks man! I kind liked my first one better haha. I need a better way of doing he stick cam. Right now I have to kneel with my arms through a stool so I can't really fly to well like that. Also even though these gloves are thumbless they definitely hinder me :/ Stupid cold.
Mitch Rivers Yeah, it's just a bit hard to kneel and put my hands through the middle of the stool I use to get it haha. Going to try and get a chest strap to hold my gopro.
Great video :). I think that will help me when my new Quad Frame arrives. Tuning the Lisam 210 was a pain in the ass because everyone told me different things until i got it right mainly because of Betaflight 3.0 :). So keep up your great work.
Man thanks for all the info U share and the way U share it. Its simple and very straight forward, ive learned more on a hand full of your tune videos than on many others out there! There is no sense of pressure the way U explain things. So, its easy to go out and try to tune and make mistakes. U should do a overtune vid just for noob reference, its esy to understand how to but its not so easy to watch symptoms when U go over the top... Keep it going, really great content at least for me and many others I suspect. ; )
great video. Thanks for telling us what to look for as we fly. I have watched many videos and none of the explain what YOU are seeing in the video that tells you the 'tune' needs adjusted.... for example what propwash does and how to tune it out. I'm a fan....thanks
Dial in much? Your live commentary rocks, bro. Excellence. Man, I'm still pretty new and the sounds you make that thing make just cracks me up. Glad you're not a proctologist...
Thanks for all the x210 videos, it seems like a great little quad for the price, I think I'm convinced to get one now. BTW, where is all this footage shot? Its beautiful countryside.
The way the quad flied in the beginning was very loose (like you said), it was kind of the way my quad flied at first. I thought I was the only one with that problem, but apparently PIDs make a worlds difference. I actually felt nervous in the beginning. I feel like you still could have added a little bit more I gain. It was dipping slightly on the roll axis. But maybe thats just my OCD kicking in, cus the tune was still very good :) Thanks for this kind of content, wish I had this when I started out
Yeah, I have changed a little bit since then, I mainly stopped so the video wasn't any longer and I ran out of time to film haha. I have bumped all my values up just a little bit now.
nice material man. I've been flying a vortex pro for maybe 9 months and am a very competent pilot now. i want to build my first quad but with some serious power, my 2204's can feel the weight of my go pro 4.
very good PID Video, i love your explanations for each new tune. Could u tell me if your pid settings still work on BF 3.1.7 or is your tune outdated in the meantime. try setting up my realacc x210 on your tune on bf 3.1.7 and i think it dont feels right but i am to noob to exactly tell whats wrong with it :) setup: X210 30A Dys S Emax 2205 2300 kv Omnibus F4
Hey! I hope you still read comments of your old videos. Great video, loved it, the one and only reason why I ordered this kit. The kit just arrived today, I was wondering if you can find any Gopro Session 5 mounts for this frame? I can't seem to find one, and still dont know how to design one. Suscribed!
Yep, the comments show up in my comments section (unless YT screws it up) so I can see everything without having to go through videos :D I am not sure if anyone has a mount available, but I might be able to make one. I am very new to designing things, but will try my best and get some help to get one knocked up (hopefully), no promises but I will try :D
Thank you for the reply! Take your time, it is still snowing here in Germany. Not really doing any flying as I am still looking for ways to waterproof my quad. Looking forward to your future videos :D
happy thanksgiving🍗 is the emaxx 2300kv s the newer version? i haven't heard of them before this video. I know the dys 30a s are really nice after watching ur build videos I had to get a set for my zmr250 I absolutely think there great so some compared to my cobra 30a they make flying more controlable. I ordererd another set for a build I'm going to be getting alien seconds frame once sell my nighthawk 250.
The new versions are the Emax RS2205S (either 2300kv or 2600kv version. I have a kit coming from FPV model that has them in it. I will be doing a motor video on them when they get here :D
Awesome flying awesome tuning but I have a question... wouldn't all your tuning go to waste after you remove the GoPro from on top of the quad? Because the power to weight ratio would change?
Would you consider tuning other quads? I have one that I've been struggling with to get to fly without high throttle oscillation. Having watched what you just did in this video and how you explained it I have full confidence you could get it right. I'm in VA btw and currently have my quad shipped out to get tuned, but I don't have confidence they will get it right as they failed the first time around. Great vid!
I've been purchasing most of my equipment from quadquestions.com and they offer tuning so I sent it to them. Received my quad back and still had oscillation issues and upon inspection noticed some of the magnets in my brand new RS2205S 2600motors were slipping. Needless to say I replaced them with some new F40 Pro 2600 motors and they are well built and show no oscillation on the test bench through cleanflight. Motors are all TPU pads, and my flight controller is the TBS powercube which I have on other builds with no issue. I set gyro_lowpass = 90 from 100 default on Betaflight 3.0.1 also thinking this was a vibration issue. Odd thing is when I flew the quad at home in Angle mode it seemed to fly perfectly fine and very smooth even on punch outs. I get to the field and fly only acro and notice the quad had bad oscillations. I should have tried Angle mode again, but didn't think of it at the time.
Well, I would certainly flash to the newest betaflight. Softmounting can't fix everything, only so many vibes are tolerable. See how it is when you get it back.
I just through these PIDS in my Realacc x210. Much better! Just had to bring down my D to 20. One question though, what betaflight version are you running?
Ok, I'm running 3.1.0 I believe. I started practicing los, but in auto level. Once I get that down then I'm going acro. Your videos are helping. Thx so much.
Sup man, been a fan of your vids! Ive been using your PIDS for my similar build and they work great! If you got an updated one for the GB-X210 can you share them with me? A screenshot would be perfect! I think lots of ppl would appreciate it! Keep it up man!
Rcaddict great videos as always. I have a quick question. I see in your tuning video that you use two switches to arm your quad I've been trying to figure out how to do that. I have my arm switch on SF the two position switch on the left but I want to also use one of the three position switches for a safety feature because I always hit the two position switch by accident. I was wondering if you knew how to figure that out on the taranis thank you
Im thinking abou getting that kit. But I would want to know if the camera that comes whit the kit actually has a good quality. Cuz i have tried to search about the camera but whit out much results. And you're not even using the actual camera. So do you have any footage or something from the camera
great stuff, just had my first go on hotprops sim.. it was a struggle to get going and i ended up with less than ideal set up using xbox360 controller on a windows boot. i got tired of trying with the flysky i6 on windows and mac, i'm not sure but it seemed to glitch because i didn't choose a player name...... anyway... had a good go with the joypad, i can see a light at the end of the tunnel now. i hope hobbyking send you a turnigy evolution to review... theres an awful lot of flysky noobs,
Hi. Do you think that the quality of the parts playing a big role in how precise you can tune your PID's? It's that possible that if you got a cheap motors you will not be able to tune them very good? Thanks.
The RCAddict I I built a 210mm quad and on the first flight it was wobbling like crazy so I could not take off. After couple days of PID tuning I got it in the air but it still has some wobble on descent that I can't get rid of.
Do you have a video with TPA and TPA breakpoint because I dont understand it.lol My motors is way to powerful when I go full throttle even I try to fix my PID again. Both drone does the same time. It shake violently.
I don't specifically but, TPA is Throttle PID attenuation. The TPA breakpoint is the throttle value where it becomes active, for example TPA break at 1500 is half throttle, at 1750 it's 3/4 throttle. The TPA reduces the PID values (all of them) by the set amount. So if you have a TPA of .30 set breakpoint at 1650 when you move the throttle above there your values get reduced by 30% automatically, and then raised back up when you lower the throttle again. TPA certainly can help on top end oscillations, however if it's shaking bad, your P and D gains are probably too high in general. Also unbalanced gear causing vibrations worsens the problem.
First thing you can make with your 3D printer is a cam protector for your HD cam. Simple design what you easaly can make your self. Witch props were that?
Hey what's up man? I don't know if you know the answer to this, but I set up the logical switches and special functions on my Taranis to let me know when the battery is low and critical on a certain voltage, and it's not alerting me. It's saying battery low and battery critical when I first power up the quad (on a full battery), but not when the battery itself reaches those set points. Any idea why this is? Is the FC not capable of doing this on the GB-X210?
Sorry but I don't have any experience in this since I have never felt the need to set it up. It certainly is capable of doing it though, as long as you have VBAT hooked up the FC, and the smart port telemetry on the FrSky reciever hooked up correctly, then it is jus a matter of radio and FC settings I think. Maybe check out some videos by Painless 360 as I think he covered it with this board.
The RCAddict Hmm, not too sure if I have that hooked up or not. Whatever you did in your build I did the exact same thing haha, so you tell me lol Either way, thanx anyways man.
Nope they idle upon arming. I use Air Mode yes. If you have the motors cut on 0 throttle, you can never really get to the lowest RPM possible for hang time as they will cut out, and upon starting up they cause some jerks and quick destabilization. If you want to get into flying you need to have the motors idle.
I can't, as I do not use cleanflight anymore, and the new betaflight super expo rates are calculated differently, so my rates would be wildly different plugged into cleanflight : /
On a frame like this where all the weight is centered in the middle, all the values should be a little lower as they don't have as much inertia to fight against since it is lighter. On an H style frame where the camera and battery are on the Pitch axis mostly, the roll P would be a little low, but pitch P should be quite a bit lower without the cam. 2 more on the way. I am really excited for the MQC Fusion tuning video I just finished editing. I think it is way better in quality than all the other ones. GB130 next to be posted. Had some issues with that one.
You can change in the software setup for sure yes. I just did these manually since I heard some people on these specific escs having trouble with software swapping.
I was on the fence about this, and also read of issues as you mentioned, My Quav 210 is giving me video issues, changed cam and then VTX and its still not flyable. lots of flickering and bright then dark then static and no range... ( any ideas???) so am gonna focus on the GB-X and get it airworthy?
This was a QAV built by Helipal www.helipal.com/storm-racing-drone-rtf-lumenier-qav210-storm-edition.html. I guess they are powering off the powercube. There maybe a step down reg , its wrapped but that bundle gets pretty warm after a few minutes on bench. The original swift went dead a few days ago, all dark and red blobs. Then put in a rotor riot edition swift NTSC and the pic was a bit better but not good, so changed to new identical VTX that was on the QAV, and was a bit better but not flyable. Then I borrowed the swift PAL that came with the GB-X and immediately had a good picture on several channels. I have eachine VR D2 googles and they seem to struggle with that cam on NTSC going through that quad. My other monitor is manually switchable and was able to dial in a decent picture on NTSC. I guess just use the PAL cam on the QAV and hope the rotor riot one work on the GBX? Also the OSD on the quad is off the edges and not readable on the RR cam. I do have some skyzone+ goggle on the way, maybe they can clear up the issues?
Good. From Spain. For a race dron, it will not run. Model GX210 TATTU, 4S, 45 and 75 C Batteries For what I want is to practice, I will not run in competitions. Just go to the field with and without FPV goggles and practice. The primary thing would be the flight time and you can with a gopro type camera (SJ400) With the kit, I will get a 3S of 1500 I would like your opinion on whether to buy 3S or 4S for the use that I will give and if they think the 4S better, the 45 or 75 C Perhaps the 3S of 1500 would be better? Thank you very much in advance Jorge
Ummmm... let me count all of my builds. I have built 8 quads so far (well 7 quads, 1 tri) that are hobbygrade. I have had probably hundreds of toy ones though. Have more kits on the way. Haha it's an addiction man. Moving away from toy grade and don't see how I could ever go back. I know some of my viewers won't like that, but it's what I want to do haha.
The RCAddict Challenge! lol. 1. It will lift off but it requires too much throttle to maintain it hover. 2. Pitch isn't smooth. 3 Roll isn't smooth. 3. oscillations on roll and pitch. Man you gotta see this, it's crazy. can i send you a video and if so where to?
I got the same . not but lock a like! I use your pid on this build. same. but no matter what.I think it fly great! It´s charp, and tight. BUT! IT scream like.... dont feel that mutch propwash. but play music. and i hear somthings not great. but on HD cam. the soung is just killing me! Manny have try help me. lower P ans so on. but stil nothing. if i go down when it dont scream. it out of control. only at high throttle. not just flying slowly.. PLZ help if you can! I have a video. on "Cyrus FPV -"PLZ HELP "but wont link on your page! But just tel and i wil do that! :-) nice flying but when i se my video. the sound ehet i max throttle is killing me. all other sound is so smooth! but got ptopwash! Dont understand. Newwwbiiii BIG TIME
Yeah not sure what is going on there. Could just be your HD cam butchering the sound of the motors. Of course older parts can only be tuned so much though.
Ok Nice flying and al that....yada yada :) but this was tuning was to fast. also you change about three things at the same time so I lost track what to look at after the change. I wish you would do a noob pid tuning session. tuning the pids one at the time by the differences you see in movement of the quad. I'm not unsubscribing jet.....lol
Sorry man, but if I went any slower it would be an hour long video and I can't do that. I will do my best to give a little write up of the values here. P, this is probably the most important value, a higher P value will give you a more "locked" in feel and feel more responsive to your movements. Also if your P values are too low you will have dipping on an axis on punchouts, even if your I is very high. I, this is what you increase if you are noticing on hard punchouts and throttle cuts that some axis' "dip" or lower or raise uncommanded. Also do some sweeping turns with zero throttle in the middle and centered right stick to see if your roll is in line. D, it basically smooths everything out. After you have you P where you want it for a tight feel, raise you D to get rid of the bounce back after hard stops in roll and flips. Also a higher D value will reduce the propwash (wobbles when turning quickly into your own turbluent air) If you have to raise your D to very high values 65+, to get rid of propwash you might have lower your P value on that axis as well. Also, depending our your parts ,only so much can be tuned out. Hope this helps, it is your choice if you want to subscribe or not.
The RCAddict hi. the subscribe thing was a joke. this makes a bit more sense. I need to learn the skill. I'm going to read it over and over until I get it. I was on betaflight 3.0 and when I throttle punch the nose sent a bit right and up. But it kept it's route. so I upped the I gain for yaw and pitch. a few times. That made things worse. at throttle kept going up right and with the throttle of it kept going to the bottom left. I flashed 3.1 and it is pretty decent. only upped the S on pitch and roll for the prop wash. That made things allot better. still have some bounc backs in roll and pitch but I can live with that. I'll save my settings and fiddle around with it some time. thanks pal
R2GO Yes, PID tuning is something that you just need to learn by doing it :/ S? What is this new value!? (I know you mean D ;P). What is your D at now? Maybe up your P and D some more to get rid of bounceback.
The RCAddict yeah I ment D lol. don't know exactly but they are I think 28 and 26. they were around 20 and 22. but no problem it flies decent. I'm going to fiddle around with it. I'm flying a realacc 210 by the way.
