Come along with me as I attend my first New York Sheep and Wool festival. The weekend also included attend Wool and Folk and time with some of the most amazing people.
Thank you so much for taking the time to film during your trip, it’s so generous of you to share it with us! I will probably never get to go to Rhinebeck and have so much enjoyed watching the fun you all had.
Thank you so much for taking the time to film. I totally understand everyone who just wants to enjoy the moment without filming or taking pictures all the time and therefore am all the more thankful that you give us some precious insight into the Rhinebeck Experience. Thank you for sharing the fun, the laughter and of course the yarn :)
This was a wonderful recap with Rhinebeck, sharing the house and experiences with your fellow fiber friends and then, your segment on your own. All agog to see what you create with those beautiful yarns. Best wishes!
So glad to hear you enjoyed this recap video. Plans are currently being made for some of the yarn purchased. And some is just going to sit and be pretty until the right pattern comes along.
First time viewer, your video popped up on my RU-vid feed - how fun! And honest look, thank you for sharing your thoughts, and being overwhelmed! I’d like to go, but I think the sharing of a place, meals, the days with is where the real fun and depth of Rhinebeck! Thank you, I subscribed and am looking forward to your previous videos!
Welcome!! So happy you are here now. Sometimes that youtube algorithm gets it right. You so right, the events were nice but it wouldn't have been the same without the group of people I was able to share that experience with. See you for the next video. Peace
Your recap was phenomenal. I still find it funny that folks like us are so magnetized toward skeins of yarn. I've been to 3 fibre festivals this year, and I have a healthy collection, and I even went to a yarn store today, yet still as you were showing all the stalls I was going, Hmm. I would like that, and that, and that. Hope to make it to Rhinebeck once, it's on the bucket list!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! The urge to look at fiber and get inspired is REAL! I left and was looking at things online. 😂😂 It makes you want to buy all the things and maybe, make them all too.
Love the beginning music. Loved seeing you enjoy yourself. So much fun watching and meeting your podcast friends. Glad you had a great time. Nice stash! Thanks for sharing the experience with us, and the porch was amazing. Used to live in NY and the fall colors brings back so many memories.
Wonderful video of what looks like an amazing experience. New to knitting...I'm enjoying learning about the yarns, the patterns and so much more. I'm a former NY'er and miss the beauty of the trees in Autumn. Thanks for sharing!
There is a special connection formed when people who know each other virtually finally meet in person and break bread together. Thank you for sharing a little of that energy with us. May we all meet Next Year at Rhinebeck.
I'm so happy that you had such a wonderful time. Kevin and Ray talked about how important spending time with the "family" was for them and how much fun they had. From all your footage I can see that you, too, had a ton of fun. How wonderful for all y'all! See you on the regular podcast.
Thank you so much for sharing your adventure! So glad that you had a great experience. I doubt very much that my legs would have endured so thank you for being my legs 😊 You did a great job! I loved seeing the variety of things that the vendors had to offer. Those felted hats were so cute. I loved the gnomes. Seeing the crafted animals (that fox) was interesting. I like the music you chose to go along with the videos. Along with this, I appreciate the photos that you shared on Instagram. All that to say that I appreciate you! So happy that you had safe travels ✌🏽✌🏽
It meant the world to ME to meet you! Thanks for your recap. The entire weekend was a moment in time. Hopefully, you’ll be back next year….onward to more creative knitting….
Michael, this recap was fabulous. Looks like your computer finally cooperated 😊 Loved the chat on the front porch. My heart is so happy that all of you were able to get together for this event. I was glad to give so many of you a hug. ❤
Hey Susan, thanks so much! I'm really happy the computer decided it was going to start cooperating so I could share this. It was really incredible getting to spend time with those lovely people. The hugs were off the charts!
Thank you Michael for the Rhinebeck recap. I was there 7 years ago and it was crazy busy even back then. Glad you enjoyed yourself and thanks for sharing your adventure with us.
You’re very welcome! Yeah I guess I wasn’t expecting it to be as busy as it was but I guess it’s the place to be. All in all it was still VERY enjoyable. ☺️
Thank you for sharing this video and your time at Rhinebeck, with us Michael! I really enjoyed the whole thing! I loved the porch “Reflections on Rhinebeck” that all of you shared. So glad for you that you got to be able to experience it, and that you had such a great time! ❤
For sure!! Happy to hear you enjoyed it. I am so thankful to the people I stayed with for coming on too Al talking about the weekends events. They are pretty special.
Michael, I’ve watched all your videos, and absolutely love them. Honestly this Rhinebeck video was THE BEST! I felt like I was right there with you guys all weekend! Happy knitting! ❤
Thanks so much for watching all the past videos. Happy you also enjoyed this recap video. It was so fun putting it together and bringing all of you with me. ☺️
Your very welcome!!! Nice to hear you think it’s one of the better ones hear on RU-vid. The aim was to try to make people feel like they were there too. ☺️
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Beautiful filming! I have had Rhinebeck on my bucket list for sometime now and you just justified my trip! Being that I would be coming from the West Coast I would like to make a true vacation of two weeks or more here with the festivals in the middle of my trip! Maybe my retirement present to myself! Excited to subscribe and watch all your Podcasts!
You’re so very welcome!!! Thanks for subscribing and wanting to see more of the silliness happening over here. If you can make the trip work, have it be in the middle of a two week vaca would be amazing!!
Hei Michael. I loved so much to see your recap. I was talking to someone that was there and I mentioned that I never seen the vendors as people post most selfies (which I love
Thanks so much for watching!! Happy to know this recap made you feel like you were there. I was so happy to bring you all along with me on such an epic trip. ☺️
Thank you so much for sharing your stories and experiences from the weekend. The word of the day cracked me up! It’s always a joy to see what inspires and interests you. Looking forward to seeing the gnomes pop up. 💚
You’re so very welcome! The word of the day still makes me giggle. 😂 I can’t wait to find some time to start making those gnomes, I think it’s going to be a lot of fun!!
Oh Michael! How delightful. I feel like I was there with you all without having to travel (and spend 😉) thank you so very, very much! And your camera work so good scanning all the things slow enough to see it all. Big virtual hug to you, my dear. ♥
Yay!! So happy you enjoyed it. I’m glad you felt like you were there and that the camera work allowed you to see the sights well. Big hugs coming back your way too. ☺️
Fantastic to get an insight into such a cool looking event. And guessing the craic was mighty in the house in the evenings. Thank you for all the footage, and looking forward to seeing the makes from your bountiful haul x
Michael, I so appreciate you sharing your Rhinebeck experience with us. You looked fabulous in all your knitted sweaters. Can't wait to see what you are making with the yarn you bought!
You're so very welcome! I was happy to get the footage to share this fun adventure with all of you. I have plans for a couple of the things I got while I was there.
Thank you for the Rhinebeck recap. I know it took some of your time to film, but I want to let you know I enjoyed it. So happy that you had a great time there with your friends. 🤗 Bonita
I'm so glad you are still on a fiber festival and friends high. That was my experience after my first Rhinebeck, and VKL-NYC. You are sweet as can be. See you soon.
Michael, you did not dissapoint; this video was AHH-MAZING!! As much as I love all the fiberry goodness, I have to say thet the porch recap was the highlight for me!! You ALL are at the top of my favorite podcasters list; when I watch you I feel like I'm knitting with friends. The FOMO is real; hoping to gather some funds and friends and join you all at Rhinebeck very soon!! Take Care & Happy Knitting until next time, Lori
Awe, thank you so much. I’m so happy you enjoyed the recap. I was so lucky to have the housemates join me for this video and have nothing but love for them all. Fingers crossed you’ll be able to make the trip happen soon. It’s really an event like no other. See you for the next episode. ✌🏽
Agree that this year's events had a special kind of magic! I was so glad to meet you and thank you in person for your gifts earlier this year. Being a native New Yorker, I never, ever go up to people but instead respect their privacy as we are trained to do! But fan girled you hard!
It was amazing meeting you! I loved the footage of all of you together at the house. It was easy to see and feel the beautiful connection all of you have. I love that all of the recap videos give another wonderful perspective of a perfect weekend.
It was so nice meeting you too! The time at the house was pretty special. I too have been enjoying all the recap videos too. Everyone experienced it in their own way and that’s so fun to see.
Yes, it was nice meeting you too. The group you were with were all so kind. ☺️ 😂you and me both. I just hope I get to work with some of the haul before I see something else.
I was so sad that I didn’t see you there, but as you mentioned it was overwhelming for all of us 1st timers! I should’ve gone back Sunday. I did get to see Irina, Aquilla, Johnny Bo, Chevas/Dan, Trysten, Maddie and Christen. I was either too late seeing more people or didn’t stay long enough on “the hill”. Hopefully next time I’ll be able to meet you in person (along with everyone you shared a house with). And I’ll have a better plan - rookie mistake!
Awe shucks! I was on the hill for awhile but then I had to dip. It was a lot at one point. I was happy the people gave me the heads up about going Sunday too. For sure next we shall meet. ☺️
This was so much fun to travel back in time and watch your experience. Everyone is talking about these two festivals now and it was fun to see what they’re like. I hope to go next year 💚🧶💚
Thanks for going back and checking out this recap. It’s that time of year we’re everyone is getting excited to attend these to festivals again. I have to say, it was a pretty special trip and totally worth the trip. ☺️
Thoroughly enjoyed your video. I've been to Rhinebeck a few times but was unable to go this year. You made me feel like I was still able to enjoy the experience. See you there next year!
You’re going to love the Bare Naked Wool! Anne Hanson’s (knitsspot) patterns are amazing. I have made 3of her sweater patterns and the fit is perfect. I’m in a knit group with her and she really knows design. She use to be a garment and costume designer in New York City.
I'm so excited to try it! I figure start with making a hat or something small. If I love it, then we go for a sweater quantity. Ill have to check out Anne's patterns as I'm unfamiliar with her.
I love your Rhinebeck weekend recap. I was having some serious FOMO. My first and only Rhinebeck trip was in 2018. Time to start planning for next year!
Thanks so much for the VLOG! I'm getting major homesick for autumn in upstate NY (as you correctly guessed it's not part of New England, it's considered one of the Mid-Atlantic states, which always seemed a lot less romantic to me growing up there). I want to go to the local orchard where I can get the best cider! Glad you had a lovely time!
What's good Michael?!🤗 This was a great podcast! It looks like you all had an epic time together! I appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences with all of us. The tips were helpful as I've never been to Rhinebeck and now know what to expect! Thanks again for this content. I'll see you on the next podcast. Take care!😄
I'm so happy you got the footage you did. I loved re-living some of those amazing moments. I don't think it would have been the same without my new "family" 🥰
I was most nervous about making sure the people in the house enjoyed this recap. I'm glad you enjoyed seeing the footage back and the fam IS what made the trip so so special.
I’m so glad you had fun, I loved the experience of being there and seeing everything But found it very lonely. I’ve lived in a semi truck for 3 years and only have one irl friend that knits and I don’t get to participate in a bunch of things due to the varying schedule in the semi. I tried to talk to a bunch of people but was ignored or brushed off quickly each time. I never felt the love like most experience and I’m glad my husband went with me or it would have been worse.
Michael - i just discovered your podcast today. this video is so nice. not just the footage but the conversation with your friends was so nice to share. thank you. i am in san diego and have not been able to get there yet and to be able to experience this vicariously was really lovely.
Welcome, welcome!!! So happy you are here. Glad you enjoyed this recap video. It was so fun putting together this vid of our time there. Happy you lived vicariously until you get a chance to get there irl. ☺️
Thank you for this thoughtful recap! I’ve been wanting to go for a while but haven’t been able to and you really captured something here that made me (and many others it seems) feel like I was there. ❤
Tim and I absolutely loved meeting you. I was a super fan girl. We actually have already made reservations for next here. So hope to get our second annual meet up and photo shoot with you. I’m hoping to post pictures of me and hubby’s Rhinebeck adventure…along with our Going Gnome Rhinebeck Gnome from the class we told on the Thursday before the festival on Saturday. We each did one and so we didn’t have the same gnome we did a boy and a girl gnome. They are cute. Sorry this is sooooo long.
Awe, it was lovely meeting you all as well! I too am already thinking about what plans might be for next year so I hope I too see you there. How fun that you got to take a gnome making class. I can’t wait to make the ones I got in the kit. Hopefully soon. If you post photos from your trip please tag me in them. I would love to see them. ☺️✌🏽
I am so grateful that you shared this and did such a fabulous job filming. I have been wondering what this Rhinebeck thing is all about and now I know! Very jealous of you all! The one thing I do know is I will need to find myself a "sugar daddy" before I could go!!! I would want everything!!!
So happy you enjoyed this and now have a better understanding of the events. It’s really a lovely time. It’ll you ever get the Sugar Daddy, you should totally make the trip!😂😂
I love seeing how much fun you all had! I have to admit, at first I thought you were in Caleb/Drowning in Yarn’s sitting room lol I think the “Stone Soup” comes from the Slavic folk tale of the old baba making soup and the whole village just tossed random things in the pot. Good little story of the community coming together.
It was really the most fun I’ve had in a while. 😂😂Could you imagine if I was like, “Hey Caleb, I need to use your sitting room to make a recap video.” 🤣🤣 Okay love this little history lesson about Stone Soup. I’ll have to look more into that. Either way, we are all about communities coming together. ☺️
Thanks so much!!! That would be wild if it were three days. It might take away from some of the smaller events that happen of Thursday and Friday though. Either way, fun will be had. 😁
I'm so sad I didn't get to see you I went on Sunday with friends and I miss seeing a lot of people on Sunday was kind of dead and all my favorite podcasters I didn't see them when they were gone but next year I'm gonna go for a week
Thank you for sharing. So jelly of the trip and all y’all being able connect irl. I’ve already blocked they week out for next year! The beanie you are wearing? You said name but I heard Siege and couldn’t find it. Must make.
Hey Gary! So happy you enjoyed this video. I think block off that time for next year is smart. I should probs do that too since I really want to go back. The beanie is the Ceej hat by Tanis Lavallee it’s a great pattern and kinda my go to. I really love the fit.
So fun!! Looks like you had a blast. Selfishly hoping your biggest highlight was meeting me 🤓. No need to respond. Please allow me to live in this fake bliss for eternity
It was a ton of fun! Obvi I enjoyed meeting you hence keeping the clip in when you come bouncing over to me. 😂😂 we should definitely link up in the city some time. ☺️
Michael what was the banjo music? Hubster wondered and liked your video. Even though he's not a knitter. I loved the footage but conformed that it wasn't handicap accessible for me but that's oķ I can live vicariously through you. 😁😁
The music is just music that’s in iMovie on my computer. Happy to hear he enjoyed it as I was a little concerned it was going to be to cheesy. 😂 I would double check the accessibility of the event. I thought everyone was able to get around.
