Abed 1000% cares about people. There are numerous episodes about Abed's relationships with his friends and even girlfriend. Just because he doesn't understand relationships or social expectations very well doesn't mean he doesn't care. Even when he does something insensitive, it's usually because he doesn't know how it will affect his friends. Take, for example, Geothermal Escapism. Abed cares a lot about Troy, to the point where his leaving causes Abed to experience delusions of lava surrounding him, as a visual representation of how trapped and alone he feels. He rationalizes that the game must go on forever so Troy can't leave, which is a little selfish, but when it comes down to it, even when Troy offers to stay, Abed realizes that he needs to let him leave and discover himself. If Abed didnt care about Troy and the friendship only existed because it made Abed happy, he wouldn't have accepted that Troy needed to go on his journey. There are other examples as well, so many that it would be foolish to list them all. The fact remains that Abed is an incredibly caring person who loves his friends, but doesn't always know how to show it, which is exacerbated by the fact that he has a constant fear that they'll eventually hate him, like everyone else hes been around. There could be a few reasons he doesn't answer the polygraph. Firstly, he may doubt his own feelings due to others denying them. He thinks theres a chance that he could be faking ( classic Imposter Syndrome) and he doesn't want to know if he is. Secondly, perhaps hes leaned into the format of secrets being revealed and wants his turn at revealing one. It fits the television style of his event and is therefore appealing to Abed, who understands his life through TV tropes. In conclusion, Abed is amazing and complex and doesn't deserve to be misunderstood as an emotionless robotic psychopath.

@@kayleewisner1866 100% agree. That's why I didn't really like this episode as much as other Community fans. Abed went from this innocent dude who had difficulties socialising but always tries and is ultimately compassionate from a person who comes off as outright sociopathic and incapable of feeling empathy even for his friends. This one episode had Abed do more bad things than every other Community episode combined. Even when he tracked the ladies' menstrual cycles, it was an attempt to better understand their moods and how to get along with them. This episode, from using Jeff's Netflix account, to putting trackers on everyone else, to gaslighting Annie, is all just a way of getting what he wants, seemingly without any regard for his friends' consideration. IMO it's really out of character and undermines a lot of the character work they did for Abed.
