Police Rescue operation at Pierces Pass (Blue Mountains, Australia) to rescue an injured BASE jumper trapped on a small ledge part way down a 250m high cliff with Westpac Rescue Helicopter and NSW Ambulance SCAT Paramedics.
The patient was flown to Nepean Hospital in a serious condition, suffering multiple injuries from the fall including two broken legs, a fractured pelvis and suspected spinal injury. It was the second time in four months that he had been rescued after an illegal jump, having been involved in a failed jump at Blackheath in May 2005. He died on a subsequent jump attempt in another country, possibly Brazil.
