Nobody ever talks about getting a bump when changing to a nose ring too soon! I wish my piercer told me it was too soon for me to wear a ring. She told me 2 months. I know it absolutely caused my bump that proceeded to last on and off for about 3 months. I fought it, eventually I had a fully healed and perfect nostril piercing. It was a horrible experience with that reoccurring bump and it seemed like forever. I wouldn't recommend it. No other youtuber has said this!!! They always say "hey its YOUR fault for snagging it/not washing it!" When that was far from the case for me- when my own piercer did it to me! 😭

Everyone told me that industrial piercings were ridiculously hard to heal, but I went through with it anyway and I’m so happy with it. You gotta keep up with aftercare, because when it heals properly and quickly it’ll really make you wanna get another piercing in the future.
@annonone93
@annonone93 3 года назад
Yeah, i didn't know the industrial was a difficult piercing to heal, but I assumed it had a higher degree of difficulty since it is two piercing (at once) the body is trying to heal as well as it's in the cartilage (less blood flow). I kept up on the aftercare, got my bar curved a bit, and downsized when I knew my body would be done swelling and I found it to heal up really nicely. I stopped having healing tenderness around the 1month mark and less so when the bar was downsized.

I heard industrial was the hardest to heal because it makes two holes with a 14 g. needle. Also, having long hair makes it easy for it to get tangled in the piercing and cause irritation/infection. But, it’s the easiest one I’ve had. I just cleaned it with saline for forever, and never slept on that side. I never got an infection or keloid. It’s my favorite one I have.

I've had my industrial for 11 years now. It took 6 years of fighting to get rid of my keloid that developed. Same thing happened when i first got my nose pierced - this nose piercing i couldn't fight anymore as it was embarrassing to have this massive bump that everyone could see smack dab in the middle of my face so i gave up and took it out 😞 i love piercings and would love to get my nose pierced again but I'm terrified and don't think my body will accept anything...
@xLadyBanana

I heard industrial was hard to take care of too. So naturally I went and got it as my first piercing. It was really sore and caught on my glasses sometimes, but swapping it out for a shorter one 6 months later made a huge difference. It’s been 4.5 years. And now I’m here for my nose ring that has caused a bump on the inside of my nose and I’m unsure of how to make it go away.

This is so refreshing to hear! I'm a professional body piercer and my clients always hate me for making them wait 4 months for a nose ring but most of them do be patient and thank me later! Others force them in too soon themselves and end up losing the piercing altogether. We don't say it to spite you! We say it because it's best for you! 😖

Hey! I got my nostril pierced last January 2022 and after two months I developed a bump. I’ve tried salt water soaks, jojoba oil, Vitamine e oil, tea tree oil, and as of now a clean spray and polysporin which I have seen small results with. I’ve also got it changed once to titanium. The bump keeps fluctuating in size and I just don’t know what else to do. I’m thinking of getting it changed to a ring soon because my cousin had a bump which was worse than mine and hers went away and she had a ring. What’s your advice?
@nadeen7466
@nadeen7466 3 года назад
If you have a persistent piercing bump please see a dermatologist. You don’t have to lose your piercing. I had a cartilage piercing bump that wouldn’t go no matter HOW LONG (I’m talking about months), until I was prescribed topical cortisone for 3 days and honestly it worked like magic.
@PiercingWithScott
@PiercingWithScott 3 года назад
Not always true, generally if you get rid of the source of the problem and the bump will go away. Bumps don't just show up for no reason. It also says for external use only right on the directions. It could also be the jewelry style, size or polish on it, lifestyle and the soaps, fragrances and chemicals from everyday life, even just touching it can cause those bumps. Again get rid of the source of the problem and the bump will go away.

@@artedesarializ I personally do not myself. I put one droplet on the bead/top and just use a q tip to lightly clean any extra as it drips around the wound which is goal but don't want a huge mess hehe. Be gentle as it's oil and absorbs well. Hi Scott, loved your video! One of my clients, who is proned to keloids got a huge one on their helix piercing (done in another shop, understood it was not done properly when they told me the piercer had to push the needle 3 times to get through the skin 😨). The treatment that was done, by a professionnal dermatologist of course, was to get this keloid burnt with cold. He let it dry for a couple days and then removed it surgically. I didn't know about this procedure until then and thought it was a good one to share 😊

I started my first nostril piercing with a 16g ring and had no problems. I'm sure the credit goes to my piercer (Cat at Koi studio, SLC). I took care of it on a regular schedule (saline on the outside only!) and I stayed conscientious of it. I do a lot of stimming when I'm idle, but it was easy to keep my nostril piercing clean and un-disturbed. I also work in a hot and linty print shop, and it didn't hurt because it was a good piercing job and I kept it clean!

I had a big bump on the front of my conch for about 5 months (couldn't go in to see my piercer because of covid), it formed after I had a ring put in after about 9 months of healing. I don't know why the piercer who changed my jewelry didn't warn me not to go ahead with the change because she remarked that my conch was still healing after she took the original stud out. I would have gladly waited if she recommended I do so! I had to go back and get the stud put back in and the bump is healing now. I would not go back to this piercer.

I had my conch pierced WITH A RING! When the bump formed I couldn't go to my piercer because of covid! 1 year later I went and showed it to him and he was like "this is an infection. Put hydrogen peroxide 3 times a day for 14 days" I had watched this video and was like "I think we should just put a bar or a stud there. I don't think it's an infection. It doesn't hurt, doesn't leak anything, doesn't smell" and he kept saying it was an infection and if I do those things and it doesn't go away he would have to cut it.... Needless to say I still haven't done anything and won't listen to his advice

thank you for talking about hoops. i got my earlobes pierced and had little knowledge of the difference between healing a stud and healing a hoop, especially with it being my first piercings. the piercer offered me both options as starter jewellery, didn't mention that there would be any difference in healing, and i chose the hoops for aesthetic reasons. they refused to heal even after months and developed bumps despite me being vigilant with cleaning and trying different solutions/fixes, which eventually resulted in me just taking them out cos i was sick of dealing with it. if i try again in the future i know to definitely not go for hoops as starters (and to go to a different piercer who knows not to offer it lol)

Thank you so much for this. It's the best and most informative I've seen on this topic. I've watched tons of videos on how to get rid of a nostril piercing bump, but none ever explain what causes them in the first place, especially w/ a hoop. My piercer pierced me with a hoop and a bump sprung up in a month. Kept it at bay with tea tree oil and exfoliators (as per those other videos) and while the redness and size decreased, it wouldn't go away. After the piercing fully healed, I went to another shop to change it out to a stud. I didn't want to change it myself as to not irritate it further. Apparently the piercer couldn't rotate the ring.and my piercing had almost closed. I now have a stud in until this bump heals, and I'll be attending that second shop for future piercings.

Keloids can be removed. I had one. They numb your ear and use like a scalpel knife and cut it out. Then they give you like a special clamp on ear ring to keep your lobe compressed and you wear that for maybe a month. I pierced my own ear when I was 11 and of course I wasn’t taking care of it cause I didn’t know any better. 25 years later I have 2 piercings in the same lobe and no more keloids.

For keloids: Dr. Pimple Popper has some keloid removal videos on her channel FYI. But from what I saw they have to be large enough for a large gage needle to be pushed into the bump where the needle gets cooled down for it to sorta freeze off (TL;dr) the keloid. A dermatologist would be my first go to for information on keloid. Dr. Pimple Popper does break into how some people are just more prone to them and the science to how they form in the removal video. (I would assume with the advancement of heat and mass transfer and finding more efficient liquids this would advance the medical side of things where they could create a small enough needle that could be used in smaller keloids, or it already is a thing but we only see the large keloids get removed that interfere with peoples lives.)

I don't know how you do it, but I have to say, that the bumps on industrial piercings would be less if the piercers outside of germany would use only one needle for both holes. That creates a line in the right angle without warping it around and irritating the wounds too much. And if everything is held as clean and desinfected as possible, it's no problem using one needle for it.

I got a helix ring put in a few years ago, and the guy doing it warned me, "Everybody screws up their first cartilage piercing." Man, I was so determined to prove him wrong!! I took the best care of it! I kept it nice and clean, and even only slept on my other side for months, even though it's not what I was used to.... Unfortunately I seeing someone at the time that was an absolute idiot and was always rough housing with me, pulling and pushing me around, even when I didn't want to, and he often tugged or smacked my still healing piercing. After a while I started to notice the bump forming and kinda hoped it would eventually go down, but I came to terms that it was probably just scarring from the irritation that moron caused me. Years later I guess the piercing itself never actually healed? I got a new position at work that had me working weekends, but I couldn't wear jewelry, so I had to take the helix ring out. Went to put it back in Monday morning and it had already closed up in just two days!? It was rather disappointing... but I guess that just means I get a chance to try again and hopefully do it right this time! ^_^

I came across this video a couple of weeks ago and purchased the recommended emu oil. I purchased mine from Amazon. I haven’t even used it for a full week yet and already it has worked wonders for the irritation bump on my helix piercing. I accidentally hit it a few months ago and that’s when the bump showed up but it’s finally shrinking and the soreness has decreased significantly. My body doesn’t heal quickly - my first lobe piercing took 6-8 months to fully heal so it make take another year or so for this helix to heal. I’m grateful for the aftercare guidance that you’ve provided in your videos. Thank you so much for sharing!

Try to figure out the root cause of the irritation. Do you have a quality piece of jewelry in there? Was it done by a professional. Are you sleeping on it or catching it on towels. Depending on which piercing you most likely should have a stud in there not a ring. So many factors. Good luck.

I have issues getting keloids from back and chest acne. i’ve been in the process of getting them “removed” and surgery isn’t an option for me because it would take out too much of my skin tissue. because of this, the only “solution” is to get them injected with steroids, since steroids injected in the skin will normally create an indent. i’ve had straight up cortisone injections that didn’t work, chemo-cortisone injections that didn’t work and hurt like hell, and finally found that what works best for me is using local anesthetic and then cortisone since it’s supposed to limit blood flow to the area. this has definitely worked with some of my keloids to make them flat, but others are very stubborn. I am currently healing a septum piercing (against my dermatologist’s recommendation) and avoiding getting all cartilage piercings. i thought it was uncommon for people to get bumps on septums, but i do have one currently that comes and goes, so hopefully i’ll be able to heal it and it won’t turn into a keloid.

In regards to keloids, I'm both a sufferer of keloid scarring, and I'm also a body piercer, I have Ehlers danlos syndrome which makes me more prone to them, The way I personally avoid them, is actually reducing the frequency of cleaning my piercings, and allowing the tissue to do it's own thing in its own time, I will clean my piercings ONLY after I have a warm shower, and I don't spray the aftercare on my piercings, I spray it on a cotton bud and gently wipe off any excess only if it's already gooey, I let the lymphatic fluid sit on the bars otherwise, I get pierced with the smallest bars that I can with swelling (I start off with 14 gauge 10mms lengths in my lips) to prevent the fluid from being ripped through the fresh holes, and emu oil/vitamin E oil is my saving grace once the piercing stops it's irritation (whether that's the 3 months on cartilage, or the 2 weeks on lips, whatever it is until you would technically be ready to downsize) I use the oil in the same way as removing cartilage bumps maybe once a week until the piercing is healed. I have healed now, not only a bunch of lip piercings, but a standard industrial, conch, and both sides of my nose, septum, and nipples as well now! The only thing that I would like to mention with this, is due to whatever condition is making these keloids how they do, when the fistula fully forms for me, they never close. I didn't wear my industrial for a full 6 months, and the holes remained open, I had my septum out for 2 years and it stayed, so if you're prone to keloids and look after it this way, the chances of your hole closing if you keep the jewellery in for a while, are super slim, so if you might change your mind about a piercing, I wouldn't recommend getting it because that bitch is staying unless you use a taper to widen the piercing and then wear nothing (bless microtears) . I also have my ears stretched in my first and 2nd earlobe piercings, and I don't size up until the jewellery FULLY is relaxed inside it, meaning I wait about 4 months between sizes despite wearing double flares which fit easily I also will not change my piercings for about 1.5 times the recommended healing time, e.g: I wait 3-4 months for lobes, and a full 5 for lip ones, 2 years before my industrial, but having the lowest possible size makes that a bit easier, I baby the shit out of my piercings, and have had an easier healings time with blade needles than with tri-beveled, unsure as to why that is though

Just got my industrial repierced after it was done SO incorrectly the first time 4 years prior. I noticed a lot of excuses swelling within the first 24 hours, and, knowing my body and how my piercings usually heal, i knew something was up. I wasnt sleeping on it, touching it, over cleaning, ect. My jewelry was titanium, the whole 9 yards. My common sense told me to go to my piercer. The first thing he told me to do was an aspirin paste. Of course, the aspirin made everything ten times worse. I started using tea tree oil like i normally do, and its already starting to shrink. Morale is: just because someone is a "professional", doesnt mean they always know what they're doing. After watching this, i realized my keloid was probably from it being pierced improperly to begin with. Thank you for the help

I called it my meatball 😅 and every time i would go see my piercer she would ask how my meatball was doing. We were unsure of what actually caused this bump so i ended up going to my doctor. When in comes to keloids DMSO might help. I've never gotten any keloids and i have over 20 piercings but i'm born, raised and now work with horses i have fair amount of scars and using DMSO at least 2 times a days got read of alot of them. Although it is a long proces for old scars and you have to be patient, i mean keloid is a scar tissue so theoretically it should help. But before you jump on using DMSO few bhp points: 1. NEVER use DMSO with anyting else but glass, HDPE or at least stainless steel. Only use it on fully metal jewellery like steel or titanium without acrylic or any other bioplast or artificial comonents, zircon is ok, its a glass. 2. DMSO is a powerfull solvant that penetrates to the bone in about 4 min therefore if u use it on dirty surface or cleansed with chemicals [like any soap with SLS] it will introduce it all into the bloodstream. So if you want to use it wash the area with gray soap, rinse with fresh water or saline if its and open wound. 3. Buy only one with 99,9% purity and dilute it with saline. Everyones tolerance is different. I often use even 90% but my tolerance is very high. Best way is to make few different solutions, i have 90%, 75%, 50%, 25% and 10%. I use all of them dependently on how sensitive my skin is in given area and how many times a day i use it. 4. DMSO is also natural painkiller and anti-inflammatory. It reduces swelling and if you mix it with other remedies it will introduce them deep into the tissue. 5. DMSO drastically increases collagen production and cell regeneration so it will also increase speed at which your piercing is healing and any wound for that matter leaving little or no scar. Collagen production is increased so much that you'll scab all over but its a little prive to pay. If it dries skin to much either use more diluted solution or use FULLY natural body butter or cream to misturise it. !!! BEFORE USING DMSO buy a book about it by Hartmut P.A. Fischer, he's been worlking with DMSO for decades now and is most likely the most knowlegable person about this substance in the world. DMSO is wonderfull substance and is no 1 in my first aid kit. I've been also using it on my piercings for years but it CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS if used without proper knowledge hance if you want to try it BUY THE BOOK! If any1 with keloids try this pls let me know if DMSO helps or not. Remember that given keloid are often quite large you need to use it every day for months, best few time a day. It will also take longer the older the keloid is.

I’ve seen a RU-vid video where they freeze the keloids off.

I have my belly & nose pierced. Belly: The healing process was amazing, no issues & no pain when I got it done. Nose: I did have a small bump underneath it cause it is a harder piercing to clean however it's okay now, still currently healing but there's no irritation and seems perfectly fine. :)
