That was when I was in my twenties and words from rich owners of mansions and private jets who made millions from the fear mongering business and here i am now in my seventies. with out doubt fossil fuels of which I have been a huge user of, like all in my generation very well have had it*s day. We can not throw the baby out with the bath water, but viable alternatives must be found.Patience is required to allow technology to catch up. I love performance vehicles both two and four wheeled and the EV market already have them but the limited capacity even for the every day go to work commuter makes them impracticable. The energy required to process and mine the rare earth minerals to build the current batteries and solar panels is huge and I live in a country where there is vast quantities of such but not yet exploited . Plastics made from petroleum a mainstay in health care as seen in the recent pandemic for PEC s required to protect our health care providers and even the syringes they used to vaccinate we beings. I cannot see how blocking the roads for every day working people is a solution and the violent attack of one of the protesters a few days ago is horrific. .but is the end product of frustration which may only get worse as anger can be contagious. Even the green advocates in the current US government has been told by their own advisers there will be a world reliance on oil for the next 50 years, until other solutions are perfected. So what does slow walking on a main throughfare accomplish other than disrupting the lives of every day folks. Piers Morgan and Douglas Murray are two of my favourite humans on the planet. I love hearing your debates with opposing viewpoints, conflicting ideas being hammered back and forth with others. I wish more shows were willing to actually debate.
They are not protests. At best they are public disturbances. I'd go as far Terrorists incidents. The catch 22 for the police is not that they are wrong matter what they do, its that either the public (most of them) will disagree with their actions or the the MSM will. Most of the public want them to "JSJSO" but they continually decide that it is the Media they would rather appease. It is the media they are scared of. This should not be the case and it's left up to the public to show them that line of thinking is wrong.
They have to be impartial politically. So it's complicated. Also requires cops and vehicles to arrest and transport near enough 20 prisoners... Those resources are never going to be available in the blink of an eye.
The protesters’ lives should be disrupted just like they’ve done to everyone else. When they’re done “protesting,” follow them and block them from getting into their vehicles, stop their access when they try to get on public transportation, line up on the sidewalks and don’t allow them to pass.
I honestly believe anyone standing in the middle of the road is a danger and could cause an RTC. These people should be removed charged taken to court and imprisoned/fined.

Personally if I were living in the UK I'd pollute as much as possible and recruit more to do so until this nonsense stops. This doesn't help the cause and in fact makes it worse. Stop interrupting people's lives with this or face extra backlash. I'd have run people over by now

No, it doesn't. We operate by rule of law and have a solid system of justice. I'm not giving that up because some knucklehead drivers want to beat up people standing in the road. The police need to step up and intervene. The public need to stay in their cars.
My admiration for Piers has grown once again. I cannot imagine how he maintains such calm and patience with the idiots he has to deal with. One can protest and gain public notice without creating hatred for their members and thus the cause. They never offer facts about anything, They bite their own nose off to spite their face. Douglas Murray is brilliant. Gibberish…wonderful. Sane and intelligent.
Murray nailed it as usual. We all believe our causes are just. If we all pursue them via public disruption we will have utter anarchy. You don't have the right to disrupt everyone else as part of your right to protest.
That is absolutely true, if everyone blocked streets because of their opinions nobody could move and society would break down. Even stop oil wouldn't be able to gather and perform their collective idiocy on roads.
Piers is right, more serious action will be taken by the public to these activist. And we all know who to blame when someone gets hit by a car or assaulted. Not the public, not Piers, but themselves.

as much as she talks and never says anything smart, that's a gift, everything is messed up in her head, and these idlers who have time to protest and roll around on the ground and take away people's freedom to move and go to work, they should be given the same amount back, so they would see what hypocrites they are, Grace lies that it's hot in Europe, it's not true, the opposite is true, it's colder and with a lot of rain than before, but many will believe her lies, because today it is much easier to deceive a person than to explain to him that he has been deceived. The truth is that the climate has changed, the winters are not like before, but I am sure that the change was very, very little influenced by man, they are simply natural processes and man cannot do anything about it, but some people have come up with the idea and want to use these climate changes to take even more rights away from people and pass laws that are generally always bad for people and the nation, so all those rich people and politicians who push this climate agenda are polluting much, much, much more than usual ordinary people, because they own huge houses, villas and apartments that they have to heat, they have collections of engines and cars, they drive in big government cars, many rich people own private jets, some even more, they are the ones who travel by plane the most and not ordinary people, and the question that only arises at the end is who pollutes more, and if, as I said, I don't believe it because there are many scientists who dispute it, process and man cannot do much about it

I’m an American living in a southern state. Protesting in the street is illegal. As I believe it is in the UK (?) We also have a law that a driver cannot be held liable if they run over a protester who is too stupid to get out of the way. We are permitted to keep driving. Wouldn’t ya know we don’t really have protests blocking the roadways here.

Yeah go protest over there in the corner, where nobody will know and nothing will ever change. That's a really effective protest. Any protest that is inconvenient for people just isn't going to work. Too annoying. Like when it didn't work for the suffragettes or the civil rights movement or unions or in order to win worker's rights like the weekend or reduced working hours. Never going to work. Sad.

Ironically the police stepped in when jso protests in Parliament Square yet when the protest affects us, the public, the police leave them alone and you wonder why people are getting frustrated
JSO are causing an obstruction, the police are just choosing where they are causing an obstruction. Criminal damage to paintings and buildings, totally unchallenged, makes me wonder if governments , left or right are allowing it as it fits their long term agenda.
Bad optics to have a protest in front of a government building. It ends up on the news. The protest on some random street corner doesn't get much media coverage, unless violence breaks out. Then the cameras will appear in a heartbeat.
My boss had an aneurysm on the phone at a job site. When we went to see him he said that he was told that if he had not been on the phone he may have died in his truck. Time is crucial in an emergency. When someone dies on a bridge behind a protester, mark my words, this will stop. I feel sorry for the family that will lose a loved one over this.

Grace is such a lovely name unfortunately given to such a common cold hearted woman, who doesn't care if folk need to attend hospital who are prevented in doing so by JSO.
I think these people do care very much. That is why they are willing to be at the wrong end of public opinion. They are willing to be looked upon poorly if it means more exposure on the climate crisis. Even in these past few years, people are saying "i agree with the message of JSO, but not their methods" This is a win for JSO and the activists. The problem with this woman, no one has ever said “no” to her. She , in my opinion, puts more people off her “cause”. Thank you Grace for supporting us🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
The real problem with this woman and many more like her, is that people like Piers continue to give them air time and then don't tell them to shut up, or kick them off when they try and shout others down. it is car crash television, more interested in controversial debate than dealing with actual issues.
Why isn't the government arresting them? These people have the money to come to the US and try it here in S.Dakota for Burning Man Festival and were dragged off the road.

I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again. The issue is the “protestors” don’t even care about their cause, they care about causing mayhem. People who genuinely care about the environment do their part to help, not antagonise the public. It’s not a movement for change, it’s for chaos
They’re getting paid £450 for every protest, my friends son at uni got offered to do it, he went to a meeting out of curiosity with no intention of going and said they don’t even know any facts, just given a time and place to turn up and not to speak to anyone.
