I would love to know more about your dual ignition corvair, what sort of diode did you use? I've been wanting to do the same and didn't know it was possible!
Summit racing has the diode for the dual ignition and its a solid state pickup across from the points, check the flycorvair.com website think theres a pic
Pietenpol aircraft company, have plans for the full size piet. Also if you can find me on face book i have more info. i visited Bernie Pietenpols grave
and i like the engine,,,but the prop will not tear it off, sorry, bcs the bolts on the engine need to hold the max G loads x1,5...EACH ! in terms of safety! the centrifugal force on your prop is what? 2 tons? more...( i.m too lazy to calculatebthat now...) but nothing will tear off the engine...sorry! 🤣unkess you use 1/4" brass screws...
That is actually a requirement for racing for that reason. I have seen only one home built with cables to the fuselofge. I first became aware of this from William Wynne fly corvair.com
all i know ply is only 1/4 of the strength of real wood, and never seen a wooden prop loose it,s ends in the air, but carbon can shatter🤔well, we all have our ideas...but no ply never in any plane i fly....ply is crap! longitudinal stringers under tension and pressure...why ply? it already halves the strength...no need to have side load strength against splintering! 🤔whatever...when it.s light wood like poplar the strength goes down even further! i have dompression at 55-60 and tension at 110-130 N / mm2 at hardwoods...and ply has unidirectional shit strength of what? 15? 20 if lucky? no thnaks...
