I've ridden the pig trail a hundred times...its an hour from my house...great ride

I grew up in East Tennessee and spent half my life there, live in Middle Tennessee now. I rode and drove US129, aka.. The Tail of the Dragon, hundreds of times before it was commercialized and advertised. The traffic and idiots on it is what has ruined it. Without that, it is one of the best, short rides in the county. You can also go ride the Devil’s Triangle near Knoxville and have a blast since there’s little traffic. I STUMBLED ON THE PIGTRAIL ON MY WAY HOME TO MOBILE, AL FROM STURGIS IN 2019! THEY HAD JUST PAVED THE TRAIL AND IT WAS KILLA TWISTIES!

I rode on the Pigtrail a couple of years ago and it is a great road. My wife and I will be down there again in a couple of weeks so she can enjoy that area as well.. Might even make it to your campground if time allows..

Yep, was just down there a couple weeks ago. Honestly I think that Hwy 7 south of Harrison to Jasper and connectors to hwy 16 and 43 are all better than the pig trail for twisties- and less traffic! I really like it when you pick a vet to go ride/adventure with you.

The back of the dragon in Tazewell Va. .... is a nice ride not as commercialized as the tail of the dragon

I definitely want to make it out to the Ozarks for a ride someday.

Adam I rode the Pig Trail last September before I stayed at the Kriver Campground. You rated it correctly, I don’t believe it belongs in the top 10 in the Country, but for a 1-10 rating system it’s a 7 for ride ability. Thanks for taking the Vet along.

I’ve ridden the Pig Trail many times , love it. But I find it hard to not float the Mulberry when I’m there. It’s great too!

Going to the Steel Horse rally in a couple of weeks! Will be taking a day to ride the pig trail again!!

We were just there but didn't see any Pig Trail stickers in the stores we visited. I agree with your assessment of the road. Will you also hit the "Arkansas Dragon Tail?"

How far is that place from the campground? We will be out to your campgrounds at end of July with a buddy Marine and another friend who has rheumatoid arthritis and can't ride that far in one setting. Definitely truth about dragons tail. Hey Adam.... The wife and myself stayed in Eureka Springs and wanted to ride the Pig Trail but part of the road was washed out and was closed but we were able to ride the AK Dragon.... and was surprised how good it was. I live close to the Tail of the Dragon and ride it 1-2 x's per year.... the main thing to remember about the Tail is there are really no vistas to look stop and look at and the biggest thing is there are no side roads/driveways to worry about (just supermen dressed in leather from head to toe screaming pass you)... there are very few roads like that but I agree that the Tail is over rated and there are several roads close to the Tail that have very beautiful vistas/water falls/nice sweep/rivers and much better ride.

I'd like to do this ride sometime. I think it is only about 5 hours from me, here at the bottom of Southern Illinois, near Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Yep gotta agree, Tail of the Dragon is not relaxing at all. A couple of knuckleheads have ruined it for me. Cherohala Skyway is so much better. 👍🏼

I totally agree with you Adam concerning the Tail of the Dragon. You will most definitely hit up better rides getting to it than on it. It's a good technical run if you don't live amongst those type of roads, but it's popularity is it's demise. A run I'll probly just do in a group. The Pig Trail is on my bucket list, and being in Mississippi, well, it's a wonderful half destination to your campground.

You crushed me with the tail of the dragon but then again it's the ride not the destination. I am getting ready to head there.

If you ever get a chance, ride the “Back of the Dragon”. Way better than the “Tail”.

I feel bad because i'm stuck in retail and I have to work weekends so I miss all these rally's and get togethers. Can I reach this from OKC? I haven't been out in Oklahoma much yet, still learning my way around. Are there stops for a solo rider. I don't have many friends in this area. I agree with your statement about the Tail of the Dragon. It's a ride you need to do, but there are much better roads than it. BTW, I have a house in N. Central Ar. and the riding in all of N.W. Ar. is amazing.

Was not impressed with the Tail of the Dragon either, loved Devils triangle better and much more challenging for sure. Enjoyed the Pig Trail, but like you, about a low 10-12 on challenge scale but a good little road.

The Tail of the Dragon isn’t a good ride. Riding Little River Canyon in Alabama is vastly better ride.
