Hi U 2 - First time comment ....Could you tell me if you have a rain water retention strategy or do you just use well/municipal water?

If i remember correctly they have swale, but mostly use well water

We use a private well as our primary water source, but we do passive catchment from all of our buildings (directed into swales around fruit trees) and have mini-swales designed into the property to retain some water during the rare storm event. We do have plans to expand that once we move onto the back of the property.

I have been looking into that too. In cities they require lime to be applied in no less than 48 hour intervals & waste must be stored in a fly-tight container. I have acidic soil so I'm definitely adopting the lime solution used by cities, I spray for flying bugs as mosquitoes are the evil in the air here.

I have to admit, one of the advantages to being in the desert. We do get some flies, but not nearly as much as most folks do. EVERYTHING dries within a very short period of time without moisture applied to it. That includes all of the animal waster.

Have a morigna q for u.have a tree thats come back with new shoots every yr but I'm not getting u g flowers even tho the root stock is 3 yrs old. Any advice also ihavenout some seeds in a larger pot and it came back and had given me some flowers that get pollination but then drop off

Hmm, I'm not too sure what may be happening as those trees are designed to flower which is how they propagate. Ours flower too much as we're constantly removing them to encourage leaf growth. One thing that may be worth trying is to restrict the water a bit. That stress can sometimes encourage a bashful tree to reproduce.

@EdgeofNowhereFarm it's getting g close to 14 ft tall and about to hit power lines by fence. Going to harvest some branches to make powder for us.
