Pike’s Peak RV Park Review - Manitou Springs-Colorado Springs I WAS TOLD TO STOP FILMING

Pike’s Peak RV Park is located at 320 Manitou Avenue, Manitou Springs, right near the border of Colorado Springs. When we were planning our trip and considering staying here, I first checked their website, but it definitely lacks a LOT of information! Our visit was in October 2023.
In regard to “Peak Season” or “Off Season” (because this affects RATES and their HOURS), the website uses these terms but doesn’t say when they are. I called to ask:
“When is Non-Peak Season?”
Female Employee: “Around now to June 1st” (The day of my call was Feb. 2024, so presumably “now” would be Feb.)
Me: “So Peak Season starts June 1st? When does it end?
Employee: “Around October”
Me: “So Non-Peak is June to October?”
Employee: “Uh, August/September”
I’m still confused. I have a feeling she was the same employee who told me I couldn’t film.
I’m so glad the GM Cheryl talked with us as we were packing up (as described in the video) because it really ended our stay on a happy note! It really is a GREAT location, close to Pikes Peak Cog Railway, Colorado Springs, Seven Falls, Garden of the Gods (and more), and also really beautiful. I also told her that before our visit, my online search actually turned up a lot of negative stuff, including here on RU-vid, so I was hoping maybe I could help balance that out by making this video.
A Few More Details:
• Guests of the RV Park of the RV Park have FREE ACCESS to Manitou Springs Pool & Fitness Center next door, although we didn’t have time to use it. Again, website is confusing…the FIRST pic you see under “Park Amenities” is of a swimming pool. It’s not until you read the bullet points that you realize there’s no pool at the park. I’m not sure they mean to be misleading, it’s just really bad design.
• E-Bike Rentals (website gives pricing information)
• Small camp store
• Their website has a tab for “Park Map” but the map isn’t posted there 🤷‍♀️ so be sure and take a screenshot of the one in the if you’d like.
• The website says they have 2 dog runs, though we only saw and used one. Maybe just missed it.
• Creekside sites (by the road, lots of traffic, but it wasn’t too loud) are full hookup with 30 amp. At first I thought maybe these Creekside sites were for smaller rigs, but I saw plenty of larger rigs there too (i.e., site sizes vary)
• Trailside sites (back section) are full hookup with 30 or 50 amp.
• They categorize their sites as follows: Mini-Peak (RV Length range 21-28 ft), Great Peak (29-36 ft) and Grand Peak (37-40 ft).
• Free Wifi

Thats nice they came back to let you know its ok to video tape on private property, including the bathrooms. Maybe next time you should ask first so you dont run into someone confronting you. If you knew this area more you would understand it kind of weird someone going through a RV park video taping everything. Keep in mind if you were video taping from public property they cant say a thing about what your doing. This park is nice and close to alot of activities to do.

@@Gotya02 I appreciate the input. I have made quite a few review videos of campgrounds and haven’t ever encountered this. Most places are grateful for the free advertising. 😊 (Btw, I ALWAYS go in the bathrooms and showers first to make sure they’re empty before filming) 🙂

My parents actually stayed there before. I visited with my girlfriend while they were there. The staff is pretty chill. I'm surprised that anyone gave you a hard time.

Headed to Colorado Springs to see our new grandbaby. And just purchased an rv. Do you have any recommendations on year round places with good prices? Also that are safe and clean and welcoming❤

@@MomMommy-mj1vn I believe this place does have long term stays available, and once we worked out the misunderstanding, all was fine. It’s a great location. Good luck on your search!

Just an FYI, Minnie Winnies are motorhomes. Travel trailers are Minnies. Easy to confuse. Thank you for doing reviews. I too use RU-vid reviews to check out campgrounds and all things RVing.

@@williampeacy5217 Yeah, our trailer is a Micro Minnie, and I do tend to say Minnie winnie sometimes 🙃

Not sure why people want to pay to stay in these places when there's beautiful places that are free

@@wrongway100 I guess sometimes it’s about the amenities that are provided, or the location and proximity to certain things.

Electricity, water and sewer hookups, mainly.

I stayed there. Operators of the park suck. They sandwich every inch of the park to an unsafe level.

Well you finally came across the right term, "recording". Not videoing, unless you want to invent a new word. Not video taping, cuz there's no tape in your camera. Not filming, for the same reason. I don't know why we can't seem to loose these terms, but you used them all. A dictionary will probably say different, but calling things what they are not is kind of like a Homer Simpson moment. And I see where the dictionary actually says "filming a video". Isn't that like a format transfer? Why would anybody ever do that anyway?

Probably a hall monitor in grade school. Nice video, however I'll steer clear of this one. Employee or not, stopping a guest from promoting your RV park is telling. I do understand they have the right to request this of you, but I also have the ability to spend my money elsewhere.

there are 50 million people that come to this state, irritatingly, TRUST ME IT''S BEEN COVERED. Just googling it there are over 1000 hits at least. Jeesh, everyone else has been there and done that in this state. You are not breaking new ground. Try bare handed croc wrestling there is something rarely seen.
