We're on the medway is this also you should have informed the ea as the cat is a invasive specie and shouldn't be in the medway

technically speaking, Wels Catfish are an invasive species when it comes to UK rivers/canals and shouldnt be returned if caught. Its a different story if youre on a lake or private fishery that stocks them as they cant get out or spread to anywhere else. The Canal & River Trust want them out because leaving them in the rivers/canals damages the ecosystem for all the native species of fish and other aquatic wildlife. Those fish will eat almost ANYTHING (even small birds) and they are pretty tough as well which means they can survive pretty terrible water conditions. I would consult the C&RT for more information and also future reference. Very nice catch anyway. Looks like its been feeding pretty well!
