Seattle's Pike Place Market in the northwestern state of Washington is a product of necessity. A hundred years ago, consumers - fed up with the high price of onions - demanded a market where they could buy produce directly from farmers. They got their wish, and the market on Pike Street corner today is a historic landmark and is known as "The Soul of Seattle." It is as lively as ever, attracting more than nine million visitors each year. VOA's Wang Yiru takes us inside Pike Place Market. Elaine Lu narrates.
