imagine accidentally calling Louie, whom has an army of 60 red an purple pikmin with him as you're just trying to call back a single blue. You fail to notice this as you walk into a pool of water in first person and suddenly start to hear all your Pikmin drowning and fail to make it out in time

it's like pikmin 3 camera mode. I would set a spot for one of the captains to auto walk to and then I would watch the first person view. very nice. pikmin 2 needs a switch makeover and they should add this to it

actually, the 'zoom' feature doesn't work with the L button, it works with the R button. the l button just puts the camera behind the active leader, facing forward. the 'zoom' is a different angel entirely that places the camera on the ground, following the leader.

My brain is not comprehending this information. I'll still be excited to play Pikmin in first person one day.

I haven't finished watching the archived lived stream, but it's super cool, and looking at this video, this was a stoke of genius. I love how you walk us through it and everything, telling us not only how to edit it but why we need to change the numbers that we do to get the results that we want. You break down the programming and make the code behind the game fairly understandable to someone not learned in programming (i.e. myself). This would have been good motivation for my computer science class during the year. I probably won't stick with such programming but I definitely have an appreciation for it as my brothers are experienced in programming. This really is awesome, Scruffy.

I found this fascinating, and after watching your playthrough of it, I decided to give it a go, but actually modded mine to be played on a homebrew Wii through Nintendont (since my pc isn't good enough to emulate GC games well.) I can't find a way to edit the textures, but it's still perfectly playable and enjoyable, despite that. Anyway, thank you for your invaluable insight and coming up with this! Been playing Pikmin 2 for many a year, so it's nice to freshen it up a little ^^

Dazz's dream is almost true

My parents got a 3D TV years ago, like in 2014, and we used the 3D features maybe a handful of times in total (it came with special glasses that had to be kept charged, and all of us wear glasses already, so it was kind of uncomfortable to use). Nonetheless, I remember my surprise when I discovered that my Wii - a console I'd had for 7 years already - fully supported 3D anaglyph display. I didn't test it out with a lot of different games, but I remember distinctly testing out Super Smash Bros Brawl and playing a few matches with the 3D feature on. I'd be interested to see what other games do and don't work with it, if it's a feature that's baked into the console's renderer or if individual games have different levels of support, that kind of thing.

This looks amazing, back when pikmin 3 was announced i was hoping they added a fully functional first person view/playstyle, but the closest thing was the kopad, maybe Pikmin 4(fingers cossed).

Good news to any new control method players. I checked the filesystem on dolphin and ground/cave cameraparam.txt is in the exact mentioned directory. You can extract the file but I don't know about replacing it. Mabye you need an iso.

I literally just ran down the hall and back to retrieve my cheap literally-made-out-of-paper, probably-from-a-DVD-case 3D glasses to look at the pictures in the beginning of the video. The stupidest things make me smile sometimes.

Is the C-Stick ever used in the actual game? If not, then for a true first-person experience one has to be able to see both no just horizontally, but vertically. That'll be the real challenge here. The skybox doesn't really bother me all to much since it doesn't interfere with gameplay. I would love to see this project come to life, and you're knowledge of how things works is really astounding. Great video, man. :)

This is really impressive work. Looking forward to seeing the final mod. You never showed off how it looks when you switch captains. I assume that it would be controlled by the same value that controls how quickly the camera moves into its desired position, which you set to 1, so I guess you would instantaneously move to the other captain. But it would have been interesting to see. Curious just how jarring it is. Also, how does this work for 2P battle and challenge mode? You mentioned the file you were working on had two copies of the values, maybe the second one is for player 2?
