God this song really highlights the difference in music quality with previous Pikmin games and Pikmin 4. Like, 4 is a fantastic sequel but my god did they drop the ball hard with the music
I think the main reason 4’s music was scaled back was because of the expansion of the adaptive music system, due to how many situations the music would have to account for(what enemies were present, what your pikmin were currently doing, etc.) combined with 4’s more open design, it would have been hell to get it all to work if they used 3’s more complex compositional style, with 4’s more simplified composition it was much easier to make it all work.
Preach it, brother. As much as I love Pikmin 4, I was sorely disappointed with the music. I was expecting some hardcore bangers for each new area with the usual adaptive variations. But they opted for more ambient, flowy sound which is nice ig but Pikmin's music was one of the main reasons I loved the franchise so much. :(
I get what they were going for with every enemy having their own unique music that plays when you get near them and it was a cool idea but it just didn’t work out with the lower and far more spread out enemies compared to other pikmin games, the fact that you can only fight every above ground enemy once, and also the fact that their unique themes were just too quiet to be noticeable over the plain ambience music to a point where I 100% the game and only later found out on youtube that all the enemies had unique themes this whole time
4:06 think I said this on another video but, this part is ssooooo foreboding like, really makes it feel like something awful is coming which I kinda love tbh
Man, I love this area and its music so much. The atmosphere is perfect. It really makes you feel like you’re out in the deepest part of an uncharted tropical area, where nature reigns above all.
