no. if he was unconscious than it would have spit him out like in pikmin 2. if he was awake then he it wouldve turned to fireworks

no you see it when pikmin are idle, unless you mean how its not idle, but its the same animation. when you return a part if you watch your idle pikmin in the cutscene you can see the animation
