I'm a junior, we just started playing this for our highschool spring season concert, it's so good, I'm a cellist so I end up playing the bassoon parts.
7:38 is my favorite part. My girlfriend played this tonight for her band concert. This is such a cool song and me being the big fantasy nerd I am can picture a small village in the fog as we slowly come up on it. Everyone is going about their daily life and in the back we can see the mountain. A brave solider venturing out to find this dragon. With the help of a wizard. The soldier gets homesick some nights but he knows that he has to find this dragon to save his home. Then the dragon can be seen flying. “IT’S THE DRAGON!!!” The majestic creature flying through the air. He comes up on the dragon. Woah!!! Look at that dragon!!! Such a mighty creature! Flying around and spitting fire as he flies. “There he is! He found him! Now he can save us.” Lol I’m sorry I had to go on a whole thing
I was the oboe soloist both times in the song and it was honestly one of my favorite songs I’ve ever learned. Definitely increased my playing confidence and skill level. I appreciate the opportunity and storyline this song brings to band students immensely.
I love this song, my band teacher is having us play this song for our March concert, can’t play the whole piece sadly because there’s 7 other groups playing at the concert, but he kept all the good stuff including some of the solos :)
I’m in sixth playing the horn and I play it because it’s a cool and challenging instrument but also bc when it comes to band I want to be like my dad who got a horn solo in high school with this piece. The horn parts are cool
Keep rembering:) the horn is one of the difficultest instruments… and ur sond gos in the background so when someone says ur bad.. dont lissten.. most horns in bands are the bests :)
I was first trumpet in my HS's Wind Symphony when we played this, and I swear to God the trumpets (specificailly me) made this piece 80 times louder. XD
Played this as a Jr. I was the Clarinet soloist and loved every moment of the solo. There were other clarinet ones but I was the only one who actually played the solo.
playing this piece at my cities biggest theater venue in a week... on the timpani no less! very excited to play this piece, its so wonderful! reminds me of games like dragon age a bit
You can def tell that this and Witch and The Saint are composed by the same person. Regardless, still a stunning piece. I graduated this past year, but I might send this to some of my friends that are still in the band 👀 See if they can get our director to have them play it I played Witch and the Saint in my senior year it was such a rush It’d be so cool to see them play another Reinke piece
I'm very lucky I got to play both in the same year (sant for wind essamble I played timp) and this one I playing in community band and play snare and hi hat
Wait a minute I'm playing this in my band too.... What band you in? It can't be mine that has got to be impossible... Also good for you that you got the solo! It sounds amazing!!
