Dr Kamarudin Ahmad is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geotechnics and Transportation, School of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. For the past 30 years he has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate civil engineering courses viz; Statics, Geotechnical Engineering. Advanced Geotechnical Analysis and Design, Environmental Geotechnics, and Advanced Materials in Construction. His research interest includes ground improvement, foundation engineering and environmental geotechnics.

Dr, for x axis, is the sign convention the same as in y axis? For the additional load or less load

The procedure you explained, is it applicable to only symmetrical pile layouts? What if for example you don't have pile number 1? How would that effect the analysis? Please explain.

What would your approach be if a horisontal load was to affect the foundation? Would you make a calculation of the vertical bearing capacity of a single pile and then distrubute the load evenly among the piles? Or would You use another theory where angled piles would be applied?

Hai sir. I was given task to design pile cap for cement silo. I just want to know how to design pile cap only has 1 pile at the centre of pile cap? The pile cap has moment due to wind load.

@@kamarudinahmadphd7412 Thanks for answere, but I have a problem if the model only have beam on the top pilecap... so I use momen frame (beam)... and the pilecap only be axial force in use.. is it right sir?

This method for calculation of pile load in a pile group is very conservative and it works only when the piles cannot move horizontally. Bending moment in each pile is unable to be determined either.

This is not a method, this is a fundamental to load distribution in a pile group.
