Piledriver performing Metal Inquisition at Headbangers Open Air 2009 in Germany. This is probably their most iconic tune at this underground metal festival specialising in heavy, speed and thrash metal.
Piledriver is a Toronto thrash / heavy metal band, formed in 1984 by Gord Kirchen. They are known for an over-the-top image and flamboyant song titles and lyrics. The album Metal Inquisition was followed by Stay Ugly a year later in 1986. These two early recordings have globally sold nearly 500,000 copies to date. The band soon disappeared. However, some years later, Kirchin revealed that the band and albums were just a studio project and that the band never really existed at all. Kirchin later formed his own band, Dogs With Jobs, sporadically working on solo material. In 2005, a new band was formed under the revised name of The Exalted Piledriver.
"...And if you're not a metal head you might as well be dead We're the metal inquisition... We sentence you to death... by guillotine! ..." This is a Real Metal !!!!!! Good Times !!! Awesome!!!! ☆☆☆☆☆
nice, didnt know the band was still around, know the original drummer (frank gielchrist) from a festival i worked at, he is playing with virgin steele now :)
I totally adore both Metal Inquisition and Stay Ugly, but the guitar solos on this performance sound almost completely different from the lp version which is a bit of a bummer.
@j0hnn13k... Ummmmm... I don't know any Frank Gielchrist... and he CERTAINLY was never in my band. So you know.. the ORIGINAL drummer was an Emu Systems Drumulator drum machine. And the ONLY drummers that have EVER been in the Piledriver band are Steve (Tupak Sade) Lederman, Gerry (Glace Frothfritter) Keough, and Mark (Hank Momscraper) Macpherson. Wake up and smell the metal, brother.. someone's told you WRONG.
OK... let's clear this up, once and for all, hahaha There is a gap of 20yrs from the time of the recordings of Metal Inquisition and Stay Ugly to the time I fired up the 'live' band in 2005... Metal Inquisition was done with a drum machine, programmed by Leslie Howe, who also did the guitars/bass and production. Stay Ugly was done with Dave Defeis on writing, effected bvox and production, Eddie Pursino on guitars, and friends of Dave's Mike Paccione on bass and Robert Espizito on drums.. Frank Gilchreist was in Virgin Steele and had nothing to do with any of these sessions. I never met Mike or Robert, as I was brought down to Long Island to record the vocals after everything else was already done. I'm sorry I wasn't clearer and didn't expand upon this in my earlier response. I hope it's all clear now, hahaha
Pile Driver All good man! LÖL you know these internet days are a shitload of fun....everybody claims he knows someone that is/was/will be in "the band" and post these things around aso. The only thing i see about the DeFeis-thingy is that he stated (in several interviews) that his and VSs cooperation on the above mentioned productions simply resulted of him (and VS^^) being compromised to the label or management. To pay back the open amount of bucks he agreed to do the jobs. Also afaik his sister was part of Original Sin but correct me if i am wrong. ;-) So nothing to worry about here! And please no fucking "metal situps"! No Chippendales needed here!! :D Any German dates in the near future? cheers. Ketzer
