A 13.25 mile monster of a hike from the Bowness Knott car park in Ennerdale up to Pillar. I was hiking with ‪@eddiecaisley5746‬ and ‪@ashleyjarnold‬ and it took us 4 hours to reach the first summit of the day Pillar. After Pillar, we took in Steeple, Scoat Fell and the final summit of the day Haycock. A hard 10.5 hours hiking with steep, rocky assents and descents, testing all of us to our limits. Sunshine and stunning scenery kept our spirits high and the sense of achievement on completing this gruelling hike was worth every aching muscle.

The colors in your video are spectacular. The greenest of the green! The evergreen trees are popp'n! Showing the other hikers in front of you climbing up really shows great perspective of depth and size of the climb. False summits, booo! LOL! Your epic music showing the amazing views never disappoints my friend. How grand the views from the top were. Makes it all worth it. You were on top of the world! Loved this video Alan! They just keep getting better and better like a fine whiskey. ~RVA~

Hi Alan! That sure was a monster of a hike with 4 rocky summits! Congratulations! Whew, I’d want to rest up after that too. Those rocky climbs with no clear trail are pretty rough on the feet and toes. The views were amazing- you could really see far in every direction…. beautiful. Hopefully that made the climb worth the effort. That was a pretty stiff wind too, the shadows were moving quickly across the mountainsides! Great to hike with friends! Have a great weekend and happy trails! - All the best, Jennifer

@AlanMETALMAN
@AlanMETALMAN 22 дня назад
If you do it from Ennerdale, like we did, it is a bit of a slog, as we walked 5 miles before we even got to the bottom of Pillar and start doing any climbing, so that was our mistake. We also did a few other Wainwrights as well that day, so by the time we got back to the car we were on over 13 miles and I am bloody knackered, especially with almost 7 hours driving (round trip) on top too. Good luck on Saturday and thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Wow Alan it really is a slog from Ennerdale !! For mr pillar and steeple are two iconic mountains of the Lake District skyline … whether your on haystacks , crag fell great gable you can’t miss the lump that pillar is !! Look liked a really struggle upto the summit of pillar, and plenty of scree to be scrambling over to Scoat fell You say Eddie brings the sun I think I bring the wind rain and clag lol The skies just looked huge on today … I bet the trek back was just hard going after a day like that, well done You’ve got me iching to finally getting this done now but now I know how hard it’s going to be Catch you on the next one pal … really really well done you smashed this one out the park ⛰🥾❤️

We actually looked like we all enjoyed it and those views at Pillar and Steeple were just superb. I will have a crack at my video shortly, forgetting the Osmo camera was a major mistake on my part, but I've seen the Powershot camera footage and there's something to work with. The photos everyone took were just brilliant. Again, it was a privilege for Andrea and I to hike with yourself and Eddie - next time, I will try and plan a shorter one! perhaps Great Gable!!! Well done Alan. That looked like a fantastic walk. Those "short cuts" look the type I do ha ha. When I did Pillar last year there was a fell race on and the leader ran down to Wind gap. I was like how is that even possible.

When I was shuffling off the summit a young lad came bounding down passed me with a smug look on his face. I remember thinking, one day you will be as old as me and have two knackered knees too but the best of British to him, I wish I was still young and as fit as him. How on earth anyone runs up and down those Fells is beyond me but I do envy them. Thanks very much for watching, cheers Alan

Love this video Alan. I subscribe to Ashley and Eddie and watch their videos with almost as much enjoyment as I watch yours:). I like a flat mile or so before starting to climb as it lets my legs know we're off out and it lulls them into a false sense of security! Ivan
