I think the worst ending for Sagani is where she continues to search for the elder's soul for another few years and finds it in a random farmer. By the time she returns to Masuk, no one remembers her and her family is almost gone except for one of her daughters that had a family of her own by then.
Yeah, that one or having her see no meaning in her culture and ultimately die in a blizzard are both pretty bad outcomes. For making an evil ending I kind of went with whatever seemed more evil or a worse outcome to me. The exception being Gilded Vale, as that particular slide I chose isn't as bad an outcome as the ruler returning as a death knight to kill everyone, but lots of folks got the death knight slide so I opted to mix it up for variety.
It's a bit subjective. Personally I find Kana returning home with his dreams crushed to be worse than never being heard from again. Though if there was an ending slide for feeding him to the blood pool that would hands down be the worst.
Part of the fun with PoE and PoE II was trying to figure out how to make everything as good or bad as possible. The multiple pissed off deities in the first game raised a good question of who would even be left in Dyrwood after multiple catastrophes.
My Spellblade would ask: `Where is the difference to other endings?´, and my dwarven ranger would have already been outdoors again, searching for spirit truffles to feed to his ghost boar companion. Those religious stories only cater to fans of clerics & paladins, and IMHO it spoils A LOT. Including sales numbers. 😉

Sawyer's most well-known quality of balancing things is also evident in this ending. I mean, it's a legitimate ending, but it's just boring trying to see balance in every damn thing. What bothers me more is the fact that the gods are actually some kind of AI and souls are the stuff you can create things out of. In short, all living beings are this stuff and thus energy for the gods. It reminds me more of science fiction than fantasy. I don't like the concept. It reminds me too much of a Star Trek holodek and for Star Trek it's fine.
