Hi Ed thank you for the unboxing video... I'm just in the process of building mine at the moment after owning 2 67in Slicks I've added lots of reinforcement to the small motorbox essentially making it strong enough if the prop hits the ground the PROP breaks! Instead of it ripping these extremely weak motor boxes out!!!...I added carbon fiber 4mm X 4mm rods along all 4 sides/corners and drilled holes through main motorbox firewall and glued these in place plus I also added the Balsa fillets that come with the kit down the inside corners and then glued/screwed into the ends of these to the main firewall to hold it in..plus I also made another piece of plywood and glued this onto the front face...these are weak too!! Great planes but this little motor box lets them down IMHO. What made you choose that particular Dualsky motor? I run the Dualsky GA2000R with an hobbywing 120A and it pulls 135A on a 18 x 10 prop...I love the motor 25cc petrol equivalent. I have RU-vid videos if your interested under David Hall 67in Slick Love to see your progress building it.. There a lot longer than the Slick 5 inch I've also added some carbon rods to some of the vertical uprights after realising there's NO UPRIGHT VERTICAL Carbon fiber in these planes...and I've had a few tumbles with mine and the internal vertical plywood can break up... I like your idea for 3 inch Dubro wheels especially off grass strips!!! I tried one of those YEP ESC on a 60 in plane I have with a Sunnysky motor and I couldn't get a SETTING Even with the program card I tried allsorts of combinations of timing etc but gave up in the end it just kept stuttering... I'll try and upload some Video of the Motorbox modifications to RU-vid.😉
Thank you for all the helpful comments. I may yet add some of the reinforcing you suggest. To go a little more easily on the airframe, and by preference, I fly IMAC and F3A sequences only. So, by comparison with 3D motor box loading, my flying is more gentle. I have had and still have around 20 sport planes in the 20cc to 30cc size range. Check out my Pilot-RC Slick 74" Under The Hood video showing all the equipment installed. Note the motor box is replaced with fully portalised threaded rod supports - very strong. With this motor attachment system the plane sounds solid and authoritative. I have now watched your 67in Slick video - very nice.
@@eddrakes Thank you Ed for replying, I really like your setup on your 74in especially the threaded bar idea brilliant 😃 I need to learn more smooth type flying it's like another skill on its own especially IMAC its truly very difficult to do I've only been back in the hobby 3 years and it's been a steep learning curve not just with the actual flying but with all the new technology/lipos but so rewarding when it comes together. It's winter here in the UK tried flying today but was a bit too windy and cold. Can't wait to receive my new ESC and external BEC and prop tomorrow in the post, still trying to source another Dualsky motor in the UK...I wish I could go bigger than the 67in but my car is too small plus they take up so my room. Dave did you take any photos of the mods you did ?? I just yesterday crashed my 67 inch extra, I did put extra bracing in but would like to compare, I had a dle 20 in mine, also did you use the supplied engine mount ??
@@chrisvernon7608 Hi Chris I didn't use the supplied engine mount ... I'm running the electric setup using the supplied motorbox which is very very weak ...see my other videos on my channel....I used carbon rods and extra plywood on the front... I've mended the NG many times ....and come to the conclusion the landing gear is way way too rigid it breaks the fuselage on any heavy contact ...IT SHOULD BREAK but it doesn't it rips the fusalage to bits. I have had three of the 67 NG's and only two now and one of them is two planes ...be very careful with the wing bolts and quick release mechanism....I would recommend using aluminium wing bolts or making the sliders stiffer....one of my wings came out mid flight....good luck with the repairs....I use plenty of thin CA and bi carbonate...not easy to get everything in line if it's heavily damaged...I had to move the wing tube to align with the tail....but it flies perfectly. I have one tatty plane but with expensive gear in it...so it should be reliable for a while.
@@davidhall4398 Oh I cannot repair it !!! its match wood, I will replace it but am looking at the 67" slick and the extra as opposed to the NG, have you any opinion on the others
Hi , I am trying this motor on my 67 " slick , since the Dualsky ga2000 is unavailable. Would my Avian 100amp esc be sufficient spinning a 16 x 10 prop ?
I am assuming you are refering to the Dualsky ECO4130C 470kv? An eCalc calculation yields the expected maximum current draw to be 95.5amps! So, a 100amp ESC is rated too close to the 95.5 expected. Hence you see me using the 120amp ESC.
@@acousticambientguitar2405 I have a large number of sport and F3A/Pattern planes. Virtually all of them are powered by a Dualsky motor. My experience tells me they are top quality motors at very good prices. Always remember to employ "eCalc" to ensure you are selecting well matched equipment for your application!!!
