“Everyone thinks pilots do nothing and just lets the autopilot take over.” I literally started laughing. Wth is wrong with people. EDIT: also the paperwork makes me want to die inside.
I dont think People assume pilots do nothing. In fact its the opposite of that. Most people in the cabin think the pilot if wrestling with nature to keep them in the air. COuld it be that the pilots feel a bit guilty that they are prety much resting half the time they are working?
Pilots definitely don't feel guilty, they know what their job consists in. But you're right, what you're describing is the other half of the public opinion, that are in admiration with the job, let's say
@inSAYn yes but the other aspect to consider are the sacrifices this job involves which are so bad that with time you don't see anymore the good side of the job
Absolutely not. It's a totally different job and there's no comparison in my opinion. I mean it's not like one became an airline pilot because he didn't succeed in becoming a military pilot.
I was an ex military pilot who went to airlines. All it taught me was that the airline pilot's job quickly gets mundane and boring. I moved on to airport management, much more satisfying. My conclusion, airline flying is not piloting in the sense that I understand it. If you want to truly fly, go bush pilot, or even corporates.
