Why does everyone and their mother have a 4090 for playing DCS? Doesn’t make the results very comparable to the results us peasants will see.

I use a gtx970 for DCS and it runs just fine. The trick is to not have a bunch of useless programs running the back ground. I don't run IR tracker, because it costs too much for what it does. Most PC's don't cost that much and perform a million other tasks that $1500 IR tracker could never do. It look cool, but it is not worth it.

@@KOS762Background progs have nothing to do with your GPU, thats CPU and RAM. A970 may be OK at low settings and 1080p but if you want DCS to look and play at its best then don't expect it to be a cheap hobby. 64gb ram, 4090, fast nvme drives, 4k screen with GSync and trackIR, oh and good controllers.

oh yah, it completely isn't worth $1500. I will wait till it comes down under $50... like everything else does. Or just find a cheaper version. IR tracking is not a new thing AT ALL. Every twitch streamer has the eye tracker in a software form, which is FREE. So maybe we should focus on how to get the FREE one to work on DCS, over the million dollar version.

@@KOS762 It's not eye tracking in that sense my friend, it's eye tracking INSIDE a VR headset. It means the computer doesn't have to render maximum detail across the frame, just where you're looking.

@@Tigermoto oh ok, so it drops the res in the areas your not looking to relieve your video card? but the price... it's way over the top. $1500.00 is a bit much for anything PC related, including the PC, itself. Sure guys have rigs worth many thousands, but they are not that much better. And could have probably built them for half the price, if they shopped around for parts....and built them for themselves. Normally PC's that cost thousands are prebuilt, so your really paying for the labor, not just the parts. And that is the real difference, in pricing.

Then you would have an $800 headset and they felt they were pushing the limits on price. Additionally since games are designed for it and the Quest 2 it isn't as nessecary since they are optimized for that system (they don't care about PCVR)

Hi - can you now use the eye tracking to look at buttons and then use a bound key to click on them? One of teh big drawbacks of my HP Reverb G2 is the lack of eye tracking which means that it's a bound key or voiceattack for everything.

VR head sets need a camera so you can look at your keyboard while having the head set on. Of couse the camera can be toggled on or off via the head set and keyboard or both.

Pimax gave me access to the beta of their Pimax Client, which allows the eye tracking to be enabled. The PimaxXR and the Quad Views Foveated Rendering are both by MBucchia and are available to download. Hopefully Pimax will be able to release an updated version of their client to allow everyone to enable eye tracking very soon!!

Aye, going by the results I'm getting with the Crystal, bearing in mind I'm just testing and tweaking settings, so hopefully can still be improved,.I think all new headsets should have eye tracking!!😂

@@skilgannon5069 Especially in the standalone market... I mean those things only have limited processing power. Wouldn't they want to squeeze every little bit they could out of it? And ever since PSVR2 has launched with eye tracking and dynamic foveated rendering, there simply is no excuse for launching a new headset without anymore.

Why did i have to pick a hobby that requires all the cash? Waiting for the Meta Quest 3 to come out in a few months, should work ok with my 3060ti. Even 3060ti systems cost about a grand. Think it would be cheaper to start collecting watches.

A few comments : a) not for those with nystagmus. b) has anyone done the 'Cap sees a thing' test? You know, when Cap calla out "Oh I see'm , hard left/295" and all we see is a single pixel. Will this enlarge those single-pixel-distant-object artifacts when they present in the far-periphery? Or will they be hidden by the constrast averager? Will they suddenly 'pop into view' when they get within 25 degrees of the calculated fovea center-of-focus? c) Just a suggestion PLEASE don't use this IN GR videos. Because the viewer won't necessarily be looking where the pilot is looking.

A) It has a very high refreshrate like 120hz or so. Maybe it even is no problem for those people. B) Interesting point. This depends on one thing. Is is actually reducing the game resolution or the or doing internal stuff? If it affects the actual game resolution than the little single-pixel-UFOs may even become bigger in the outer FOV. Or it might just be blurred out. That has to be tested I guess. C) They do not upload a lot of VR content anyway. Even without DFR the captured flatscreen resolution is so low that it's not good for RU-vid. That's why they all keep using TrackIR. Is just better for sharing. And yeah enabling DFR makes it almost unwatchable except you would add a marker for the eyeballs (which again would be dope because you could see what he looks at).

@@Sniperahead My Siamese-mix cat had the symptom for all of his 13 years. And I have had 3 patients where it has been present for 5+ years (each was post-trauma). At the time I was faculty at a teaching U and we were an 'odd case magnet' for a two-state area, so my implied thoughts on permanence may have been shaped by those experiences. Not an Ophthalmologist or Neurologist.

How far do the eyes move with nystagmus away? The technique could still be used if the high def circle is bigger than the area the eye covers with short term movements. They should make the size of the circle adjustable by the user. That way even patients with this condition could use the technique, of course with a smaller performance improvement.

For you VR guys, how do you use keyboard commands while wearing VR?

For using controls, like panels and MFDs etc, I just have them set in the same place, so muscle memory helps, also use little tactile tabs to help identify specific buttons. For the keyboard, I try and only use a small number of easy to find keys, like space, enter etc along with the Function keys, so again, they are easy to find. For anything more complicated than that I have to cheat and speak...

I completely stepped away from using the keyboard and exclusively use voice attack (which is a really good voice recognition software IMO, I suppose there are others that work as well) for the rarely used/meta keys like menu navigation - which also feels nice for radio controls and stuff like giving cheesy historically semi-accurate huey crew commands ("left gunner, fire at will!"). Also, "play me some music!" to open foobar media player in the background, and then control the playlist also by voice command.

Aye, sorry, that's my fault. I'm new at trying to record what I see in VR, so far I have just been recording the VR mirror, displayed on my monitor. I do have the FPS counter displayed in the upper right corner of each run, but agree it's not great for seeing the FPS. I'll try to do it better next time.

Yah they looked Exactly the same... EXACTLY... i tried to see a difference, the only thing I noticed was the 2 videos were not sync'd very well, roughly 10 seconds difference, so even if there was a difference, the 2 videos were too far apart in time to notice. So I don't know what the $1500 IR tracker is doing, but I didn't see it in this video.

God another review of something we cant have. I keep seeing reviews of DFR but 0 information about when we everybody else can use it. I don't blame the Reapers, but Pimax is really starting to piss me off. It's like Pimax is saying "look how good this is too bad you cant have it." Why the F would you give it to influencers and call it "beta" that nobody has access to this feature? WTF. If you really want to test it you don't go out and give it to the people that announce it to millions of other people. F'in BS move by Pimax

so basically this headset is using a really odd and definitely crappier version of DLSS? which - if you need when you are playing in vr - makes the headset bad or worse, if you need it to use any headset, it means your pc is bad. 1:59 from what i understand of DCS getting a 5800x3d would have been a better buy than the £1300 you spent on that gpu.

@@skilgannon5069 oh and btw dcs is dual threaded at best (used to be only single threaded) so there is a limitation to how much the game can process using it's own code given the a hardware config. that gpu you bought was for the epeen not coz it gave you more frames

It's not an IR tracker, it's eye tracking within the VR headset. Also the videos arent meant o be synchronized as such, they are two separate runs of the same mission, only to show the difference in frame rate.

I didn't understand it made the game run through the frames faster. But how would that effect a multiplayer game when one has it and one doesn't? would the one with it, pull away from the plane who don't? based on fps alone?

He used screen capture in a way that will show identical graphics. But he saw different thing on his VR display. He had very sharp image where his eyes were looking and elsewhere the image was blurry - rendered in low resolution.

Im not understanding... with DFR Off, it looks more realistic in how a pilot would turn around and look out of a cockpit. With it On, it looks too smooth and not how it would be in a realistic scenario when a pilot turns his head. I guess playing the game looks better, but it is not as realistic for the public to view the gameplay.

My point was trying to let him know that if I, as his VIEWER, had to choose what WE would rather see, I appreciated the realistic view of DFR Off. What he does in his own bedroom, though, is his business.

What you're saying is true, but I think he's just showing you what it does rather than him streaming it this way. Definitely not ideal for RU-vid viewership full time, but for gameplay that will really make sure gameplay is better by not having to fly with such detail across the frame.

@@_nom_ Don't care so much about controllers, using this for DCS only. Never used the controllers of the Reverb G2 in the simulators. This one is one of the best headsets for seated simulations.
