From what they have said in interviews they gave Xzibit complete freedom write the lyrics for his part of the song. Something that rarely happens with collaborations with other artists.
30 years ago there was a movie called judgement night. The movie kinda sucked, but the soundtrack was one of the first full album colaborations of metal and hiphop. It featured colabs like Slayer with Ice T and Faith no More with Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E. .. The full listing of all the colabs is here: ru-vid.com/group/PLhrglt2nmIGiM0HlWjVxPbra6G_P21-dc I love this colab of WT with Xzibit, i am fortumate to see WT several times already and they are as awesome live as they are in clips
Love Sharon Den Adel and this kickass band, she was my first metal queen although i met Tarja from Nightwish before her, but now my current metal queen is SuMetal, she's relentless, still love Sharon of course. This is one of my favorites songs from this album "Hydra" along with Dangerous feat. Howard Jones, Paradise feat. Tarja Turunen, Covered By Roses and Edge Of The World, the whole is fantastic. I don't know about other metal bands mixing with rap, except for nu metal bands of course, but BabyMetal got a couple of songs using rap elements, two of the most notorious are PA PA YA! feat. F.Hero and BxMxC, both got official MV but I highly suggest to get the live version for a first time experience.🤘🔥
Xzibit didn't even know who they were when WT contacted him. But he checked them out and agreed to the collab. WT is famous for a lot of collabs. They got a lot of backlash from the "diehard" fans when they released this. They obviously don't care as they don't cater to a certain audience, they do whatever they feel like. Maybe that's the reason the band barely changed any members in over 25 years and they're still going strong, headlining huge events etc. Lots of great songs to check out from them.
Somehow I missed this one when they released it. Within Temptation do some good collaborations, I can now add this one to the list. I think my favourite was the one they did with Tarja, those two singers worked really well together.
Love your videos, keep them coming! If you're looking for rap with metal check out BABYMETAL's BxMxC or Pa Pa Ya! (check out the live version as always).
