The bunkai teachings are always very helpful in that I can more easily visualize the opponent's actions as I run the kata in question. The five point summary Sensei Kerry shared at the end of the video were an excellent way of crystalizing the teachings and thereby making them easier to remember. Many thanks!

Roger Sensei always says that if you can visualise what you are doing in the kata then you can start to understand it and bring it to life; with any application behind it the kata is just a dance. Although we don't practice the Bunkai for these kata, having a practical way or ways of applying the moves will help make everything more grounded. Also doing the kata with someone in front of you throwing attacks at you is a challenge in itself, again one that will better help define the kata when you practice alone.

Thanks a lot, wado Ryu karate it s my favorite, I learned with my Japanese master in Paris seinsei Uchikawa Kunio. I practice alone because there is no Wado Ryu club in Corsica.

Thank you so much for posting this full video. My first sensei always emphasised the importance of Pinan Nidan. We practised it almost every class because there is so much technical depth in such a 'simple' kata. He considered it the blue print for all Pinan kata. I do hope you will do a full series, even beyond Pinan kata.

It looks like to me, there are two layers of wado tehnics: based on pinans ohio kumites and based on kushanku/shindo yoshin ryu kihons. Maybe it sounds weird, but when i am practicing kihons or kumite gata, i do it wright when remember my boxing background. So it more flexible, shifting weight, rotations and head/calves movements. And to be honest, i saw many karatekas, who move like a wooden dummy, because of pinans. Straight back, linear steps, too narrow stances, ets. I like all wado instead pinans. And they are the first and must be studied😂

@Andybuga5826 the secret is to bring all the other knowledge and techniques and put them into the Pinan Kata, so the Pinan kata and your Kihon become more like the other kata and movements from Kihon Gumite, Idori, Seishan and Naihanchi. When you get to a point there should be no separate between anything you do. I am a long way from this point myself, but that is the ultimate goal. Hopefully you see in these videos some more advanced movements and principles from other parts of the Wado Ryu universe.
