Coming from a swac tuba player which alot of yall commenting are not, I think they are precious I remember my high school days and something like this was exciting. to battle another school. They need to be polished no doubt but I like the fact that they chose to play tuba and I hope their desire to play tuba encourages them to go to college and in that process they get their degree and improve their livelihood and ability to succeed in this country as black brothers
At what point would any of this be considered good? Or even music? Not to discredit the musicians playing, but this is exactly why I would hate to be in a show band. They focus on blatty, incomprehensible music that any sane band director would rim their sousaphone/tuba section about. My band director would tear my sousaphone off me mid-song if I EVER played like that. A tuba's tone is their most important aspect, and it has obviously not be nurtured very well by their director. For those of you who are saying, "Where are your tuba battle videos, or any videos of you playing tuba?" will be happy to hear that I have none. But just because I don't have any does not mean I do not have any music background. Good day to all.
uuuuuhh first of all some show bands do worry about tone I'm from show band and corps you never know untill you March in one but at least in show band people like to watch em and not go grab a bite to eat 😹😹😹. during they performance but i agree this right here straight trash
Wesley Crosby well i understand wat you mean but this playing if for fun. it sounds like pure ass but still ment to be fun. the other stuff like how to actually play the horn is usually saved for stuff like a fieldshow, concert or audition prices
neither section was spectacular , if they learn to play from there diaphragm instead of their chest and learn how to articulate and round the notes out they'd be perfect , it doesn't mean anything if one person in the section can pop the bell , they're a SECTION , I don't play for neither school nor am I in high school anymore so I not commenting to diss or look down on either section just giving out advice and/or suggestions
Whats wrong with a Helleburg? I play on that alot. I alternate though as I also use a blessing mouthpiece. From what I can tell they need serious work on tone and breathing. (Ive been playing for about 5 years now so I dont know entirely what the best mouthpieces are)
I expecting a pep sousaphone battle record a smart phone to sound like an orchestra recording on 2K$ microphone. Ps there goal is not sound nice and pretty it is get the crowd excited all you need to do that is be loud.
