If “ the pen is the tongue of the mind. “ just holding a fountain pen is such an enjoyable experience for me and when I see this absolutely beautiful instrument that Pineider certainly is...it makes me enjoy and spread my enjoyment in my writing. Thank you for your very well & thorough review. Your review is also professional and sincere. I would definitely buy this pen. I have 12 fountain pens but I need to add Pineider to my lovely collection.

Oh man, I freaking love demonstrators and this pen is just an awesome looking pen. Question: Would you do your personal top 5 or so list of each type of fountain pen barrel materials/types such as(Best acrylics, Best urushi, Best demonstrators, Best metals, Best celluloids, and a list of not-so-common barrel mats) or an over-view of different barrel types? Since I got back into the hobby last March, it's been something that I've been fascinated about. Thank you!

Thank you for another wonderful review and being so thorough and consistent. I am trying to think of an intelligent question to ask in regards to this pen, but everything I want to know has either been asked or already covered. So my question is: What is the question you wish somebody would ask and never has? Cheers Markus

Today, inspired by your videos, I decided to use a fountain pen for the first time in my life. So I searched some drawers and found - among the others - a Pineider pen (what a coincidence!!). It seems like a Leonardo Da Vinci special edition, but I couldn't find any information about it online. It looked quite nice, so I opted for a cheaper Pelikan Pelikano at the end. I've always been a ballpoint pen user, but I must say I am very surprised by how fun the writing is!

Dave, many of us have nib width preferences... I think a great topic to revisit would be a bit more exhaustive review of various fountain pen nibs, the various grinds, and the why’s regarding why some maybe favored over others... Sailor bespoke nibs could be featured items of review. Love your content. Please keep it coming.

Hi Figboot....found your channel from your Peter Draws visit video. I've been a long time follower of Peter and now am here to stay. I love your detailed reviews and appreciate what you do. I am a huge demonstrator style fan and this is one really beautiful looking pen. I would love to know more about how you ventured into the fountain pen world? What was your very first fountain pen? What would you say is the one universal feature that can make or break a good fountain pen? Thanks again for what you do.

I was one of the earlier Pineider Avatar adopters and have one of the original versions. It's touted durability had me start using it as an everyday carrier. However, it fell from my hand from about chest height, fell on the ground and the cap band dislodged. Although I couldn't see a crack or chip in either part, the cap band could not be firmly reattached so I did so with some epoxy, foregoing the hassle of sending it in etc. So, I agree with your initial comments that they may be strong though not indestructible. I wouldn't go dropping one with impunity. Question1: As you've developed your hobby and things you care for and don't care for in fountain pens have changed, where are you now in this regard. For instance, I personally avoid piston/vac fillers without an ink window. I avoid broad nibs and will either go to an italic or stub when looking for a nib that will give me a wider line. Overall, the law of diminishing returns is taking a hold on me. What is your experience. Question 2: After having my Avatar's cap band come off with a drop and the clip of another of my pens bend after a modest fall to the point where I had to return it and have it replaced, how much durability do you expect in a fountain pen, barring the nib of course? Do you feel the cost should reflect/assume so degree of durability? Of course, I'm not referring to intricately made pens worth thousands of dollars. I'm more referring to pens below the $1000 or so dollar range.

This pen is looks so good. I had the version that uses a rubber band as a grip. It was extremely frustrating to fill the pen since ink was going into the rubber. Nice looking pen, love the cap and clip combination and the nib. My Q&A question is this: Everybody talks about what brand of paper is best for writing with a fountain pen, but in your opinion what makes a paper best to use with fountain pen inks. Is it a combination of cotton and wood fibers or just regular fiber with a good calender process? Where I live brands are really expensive but buying sheets of, good quality paper to make your own notebooks is very afortable. Thanks for the great videos you put out there for us. Cheers

Another great review, David! My question would be about what is, in your opinion, the most reliable cap closing method. (Why? I've had screw-off caps come detached from the pen bodies several times when carrying in a jacket's inside pocket, leaving the pen to wick all its ink into the jacket lining & my shirt. The Lamy 2000's metal ears mean I can trust it above all others, tho' I've yet to try magnetic closing.) Thank you.

David... I have a two part question for you... You have mentioned adding "flair" to the converters in demonstrator pens. Would you ever consider using your expertise to help design something that would add to elegance, beauty or just a special touch to demonstrator pens? Also, you have been no stranger to teaming up with other youtubers and pen companies. Has anyone ever approached you to design your own pen? Or at least take part in the process? In the knife community there are versions of knives made to reviewers/youtubers specs and or brands. In conclusion I have made many purchases thanks to your reviews. I would be interested in seeing a Figboot Flair pen. :) take care Sir! Thank you for your endless care in giving quality content.

Not really a question, but a correction. I used your link and bought one of these pens from Pen Chalet. My question: Do you find the more unique inks out there to be enticing, and an appeal of fountain pens- or just kind of distracting as a whole thing? The wild inks you can get is what finally pushed me over the edge into the hobby, I started with glass pens and just kinda got going from there! As someone who uses their pens more practically than I do I'd love to hear your perspective.

An interesting looking pen. I’ve not used a pen by this maker before. Mentioning the metal parts preventing eye dropper use raised the question in my mind: Has anyone tinkered with the idea of using some alloy for metal threads that isn’t as reactive as steel or brass? There surely must be some that would make it possible to do this. Just curious. It might not be worth the research or expense to make such a pen. Anyway, thanks for another enjoyable review.

My question: Are their specific strategies we should be using to try and engage more younger people to start using fountain pens?
