I have the Cleveland HB Turbo draw model since November and WOW! not only has it given me 40 yards of carry (i have a home sim) but given me a major confidence boost on the tee not worrying if im going to loose my ball. I cant wait to put a card in now !

My Cleveland is the best driver I've ever had, which includes Taylor Made. The distance is there, I can work it right or left, and I seldom miss the fairway. The confidence factor knowing that you will keep the ball in play is huge. The low price was a plus, but I wouldn't sacrifice performance for price, and I didn't.

Thanks, that was a fascinating Driver H2H, the more exposure that the Cleveland Launcher gets the more appealing it is and will suit a hell of a lot of Club Golfers!

Had a Ping G10 from new up until last year, such well made clubs. Eventually changed to a Mizuno ST190G as I think the likes of themselves, Cleveland & even Cobra produce comparable drivers these days for less than the so called big boys. Thanks guys!

Got the ping. Love it. 1" shorter shaft and never had so good consistency with a driver. Never tested the cleveland so cant say anything about it. But the Ping is a really forgiving club and works great for me. High hcp player here.

I love the look so much better of the Cleveland over the Ping. But then again I had the old Cleveland HiBore XLS from a few years ago. I don't mind the non adjustability of the Cleveland. I know what loft works for me and if the driver can be adjusted I've rarely ever adjusted it anyway. Good luck off the tee this year Lee.

Would have liked to see how moving the weight would have impacted your results with the Ping. Hitting low toe and putting the weight in the heel seems counterproductive (since it obviously didn't help you/Lee track to the CG). Glad to see another review of the Cleveland as it seems like a really good club. Thanks, guys!

I play and love Ping in driver. I have the older Ping G model which was a great club when I got fit for it and is great to this day! Ping for me!

Thank you for mentioning the cost. I may be wrong but these reviews don’t always include that, and it’s good info to have. I’m planning on visiting the pro shop in August (we’re staying locally) and am planning on buying something, ideally even then arranging a fitting and buying a driver. So I know now that the Cleveland is good value, although I’ve talked myself into Ping or Titleist.

I’m an average golfer. Played an adjustable driver for several years. Found out the best setting for me was neutral. Why spend $200-$250 more for an adjustable when you don’t need one. Have gamed a Cleveland HB Turbo for 2 years, less dispersion, same distance. If you hook or slice the club will not fix it. Get lessons.

Hey Dan and Lee, like Lee I had never hit a Ping driver until owning my current G400, the sound certainly isn't that loud on the course, after a short amount of time you don't even notice the turbulators. The Ping adjustment sleeve is quite simple which is what I like, it's purely loft and on the later models you can flattened the lie, you don't need to worry about the many different combinations like other manufacturers.

Jim Powell here. Ok, you guys are certainly aware of other RU-vid testers pitting the Ping425 max against other drivers, with varying results. Ping 425 has better dispersion and beats or is even in distance with the new callaway and Taylor made drivers. As far as how loud the ping is to me is not bad. The callaway especially is a bit quieter. However, the sound of a driver is of no concern to me. Performance and consistency are important and the Ping 425 was the best for me when I was fitted. It would be nice to see testers that are between 65-70 years old, with handicaps of 8-10 and 13-15. Although I am a bit older I would love to see the results.

Low toe strike on ping for Lee could be, ping as standard are longer that other drivers, the heads are heavier so they can put CB shaft in to in theory, get more club head speed, however it seems that the lighter shaft and head in Cleveland has enabled both to swing abit faster. Another good video!! 👍

I’ve played the G425 for nearly 2 years now. Never completely got comfortable with it and had trouble consistently hitting it straight. Switched to the Cleveland Launcher a few weeks ago and absolutely love it. Most consistent driver I have owned and picked up 20yds. For me, Cleveland was the choice.

I’ve got a fitting in mid April and my intention was to put a 425 Max in the bag as it looks great and seems to offer masses of help. I always Ping’s in the past because they were so loud. Will definitely try it but if it’s as loud as everyone says then it won’t go in. Will also try the LST because apparently it’s not quite as loud and I prefer the smaller headed driver even though my skill level nowhere near warrants it! 😂

Dan, I think most of the Ping tour players have been using the G425 Max for a while, even Lee’s buddy, Pete, has one in his bag. Regarding the price difference, totally agree with your thoughts, Ping has the edge on the fitting options etc. Not sure what Torquay’s or Ashbury’s tee sheets look like for Monday, ours went live at 6pm, mangled to be the first to book a tee time and by 6.04pm there was 140+ tee times booked, seems like I wasn’t the only one that’s been waiting for the grand reopening of golf courses.

Just got fitted for one. Pure hits were right there with the others, but the misses were the reason this went into the bag. Can't wait to get to the course with it!

They tested Ping in a Tensei shaft. A stock option but a more premium shaft. Both clubs seem like a great value.

Surely it all comes down to performance (if price is not a question for you). Will definitely be testing these two against my Callaway Big Bertha B21 and maybe throw in a Mizuno STX this year. Turbulators have never bothered me which helps.

Hi Dan another interesting vid. Cleveland make great quality gear. One question. In the comparison are the two shaft lengths the same, my understanding is tensei raw orange is 45.25 vs 45.75 in Cleveland.

I still have my Cleveland Classic Custom driver, CG 16 Irons and they still perform well if I do, no doubt in my mind Cleveland make some great clubs and wedges.. I also have G400 Max w/ G Irons and G410 LST with I200's... they're all great clubs.

Yeah great video again guys it’s true I think that not many people would consider testing the Cleveland as it’s not really out there shouting like all the other brands so yes it’s probably not getting the proper viewing,which a shame,but lots of people love to fiddle with thing but I would of thought once you have it fit properly then why would you want to fiddle with things cos surely it’s more to do with the persons swing that changes not so much ch the club

I was down to these same two club brands when I was in the market last fall. I bought the G410 although, I actually preferred the look of the Cleveland. In fact I like the Cleveland look over the G425 as well. But despite the Cleveland being one of the most appealing drivers ever to my eye,,, I chose the Ping because of the adjustability and the deeper range of lofted fairway woods. But both are good for high HC players like myself.

Price is a big factor for a lot of people but so is having big brand in there bag. I don't mind something different I've got a ORLIMAR VT830 3 WOOD I am trying out after a couple of rounds back to give it a fair run

Love ping lubs as i had the ping eye2 cu beryllium clubs fitted at Karsten uk decades ago. I currently have the Ping g425 max fw and hydrid in bag, however the driver as good as it is its too loud. Ping please sort this out as i bought one and had to sell it primarily due to acoustics.

Has Lee hit the Ping with the standard Alta CB shaft? I found the best results from that stock shaft his numbers are similar to mine speed wise.

The "glued" driver,lol. Like the drivers for the last 40 years? That Cleveland launcher HB turbo driver is as good or better than anything on the market today. The reason it's $250 cheaper it's not as expensive is they don't spend millions on TV commercials.

Interesting comparison. I won’t lie. I found the G425 Max so underwhelming for £400+ and didn’t feel any better or go any better than my now gone 15+ yr old Cobra. Has driver tech really moved that far? I am starting to wonder.

If there was some foam which could be objected in to the head without effecting head weight(marginal) and dampen sound that would be good - why not try that Dan - you used to it with hot glue!

Some of your match ups have been a bit weird but this does show how close drivers are these days. Pick your favourite or the badge you prefer. Price wise Launcher and Cobra Rad are more comparable. As a Ping fan I'm not sure that I'd want to see me posting the same numbers for these two clubs with a £150 price difference.

I have spent the last 18 months explaining to people that I am not playing a Ping driver. My Cleveland HB Turbo is great value for $ in Oz in comparison to the Ping.

Since my last comment I have traded my Launcher HB Turbo 12 degree for a Launcher XL model. Being adjustable loft I have dropped it to 10 degrees/ 2.5 degrees toe up and getting decent trajectory and about 12 yards more carry distance and more roll out. I had the opportunity to hit a Ping 425Max today ( 9 degree head/set at 10.5 / weight one notch draw side of central) and the face feels very fast. If money is no object, I can see why some folks would pay 50% more for the Ping.

I think a lot of people wouldnt buy the Cleveland, regardless of numbers, purely because it's a Cleveland! People would rather spend 250-300 on a secondhand Taylormade, ping, titleist etc, than buying the cleveland new! Top stuff again lads

Maybe, and that's a weak-minded individual bowing to the brand if you look at results and integrity Cleveland delivers. It's possibly a blue-collar brand but I love it and I would have a full bag easily. I have Cleveland wedges and they are fantastic, I've tested various Irons and they were awesome as well so I will make an effort to test this driver range.

I did start with a Callaway Hot 2 as a driver but never got the good results as with the Cleveland HB launcher (previous model) - will prob. stay a very long time in the bag...

If you take and put in a 6.5 Project X Hazrdus Smoke Black RDX in the Cleveland Turbo Launcher. Lee's Numbers will go through the roof. Makes the driver that much better

After testing many different drivers it was down to the Cleveland Turbo HB If you get it fitted like I was with a $385 shaft you are right up with the big name brands. I asked the fitter let's test it against the stock shaft, he told me in polite terms no and to sleep on it. Slept on it for a few weeks called Cleveland, they sent me 2 drivers tried them both, sent one back. Now the "stock" 10.5° Draw Cleveland Turbo HB is in my bag. I love the look of more closed face and not thinking about what if I change this or that. Plus numbers are great both performance and $$$.

That was like an apple versus pear, a 15 gram difference in shaft weight is huge! I’d love to see more tests where you’re testing with the same shafts in both heads 👍

The Ping has an obnoxious sound - and on that alone, there is no chance I would ever pay to own it From Lee's perspective, as he works on his Driving Consistency, I think it's a great idea that he plays a Driver with a built-in Draw bias - it just gives you the confidence that you can aim and swing Right/Center and it will hold or come back slightly. I'm starting to think the next year 50gram X-Stiff Shafts are going to become a bigger thing.

Pros on tour will be using Ping over Cleveland true but I am not on tour and Ping is not giving me my clubs and paying me to use them. I will be trying out the Launcher.

And you don t say the cleveland is noisy? I sold it for this reason, if you hit 280+ yards, it is really a pain to use... unfortunately, as performance is good

My wife would kill me if I spent $500+ on a driver, plain and simple. Cleveland it is lol I’ve also heard the Cleveland is one of the lightest drivers out, that’s probably where the extra little edge in distance and speed is coming from over the Ping

@@dancorun6650 nice.. I own the 10.5 draw model. Great driver. But I want more distance. I currently average 180 meters per round. Wondering if changing the shaft will help. I plan to get fitted for the right shaft during the Easter break. I absolutely love the head.

The Cleveland maybe loud but how Anyone can say the Ping sounds better has either never hit the G425 Driver or is tone Deaf.The Ping sounds like Hitting a baseball with a Aluminium bat.I have a Ping G400 max and the sound of that is just about right.Tried the Ping G425 max Driver and im like wtf is that.

I have always believed that if a surface is smooth you cannot get better aerodynamics than a smooth surface I can't see how turbulaiters can give better aerodynamics.

lol, aren't we a bunch of hothouse orchids! What the heck does anyone need an adjustable driver for? It's ludicrous. We have been progressing without them for several centuries, and still the game managed to survive in their absence. I'd rather be an adjustable golfer. Fact is, any adjustments you can make to your driver, can be replicated by changing the ball's position in your stance.

I love how Ping drivers play. Quite possibly the loudest and worst-sounding drivers ever made. They've never moved on from the early 2000s "WHANK" sound, as almost all other manufacturers have. I guess they've never had carbon in them? But PING have never been a company that put much emphasis on feel - the bottom line with them is and always has been performance, and it's hard to argue with that. Except... WHANK!!
