PING iCROSSOVER V2 | REPLACEMENT for HYBRID IRON or BOTH 

I am miserable with hybrids, tried so many and can’t dial in any, but I have always been strong with long irons. Still play a 3 iron. I had the club before this, G425 crossover and found it to be really tinny and loud. I purchased a Mizuno FliHi 3 to experiment with and found it to be similar to the G425. Traded it for this club in a 3 and I couldn’t believe the feel and sound. Outstanding imo. It hits the ball much higher than my stock 3 iron and a little further, similar to a 2 iron in distance but much more confidence inspiring than a hybrid for me and slots in between my 3 iron and 3 wood. Really a great design by Ping.

I know this is yr old video but I purchased the 2 iron I Crossover 1 month ago. Wow what a club. Got rid of my hybrid and this thing is a monster. Absolutely love this Iron.

Really impressed when I tried this recently. Dispersion was super consistent for me. But i think Hybrid will give a better strike more often even if direction is slightly less dialled.

I'm excited to try out the 2 iron. As a guy who struggles hitting drivers in play, and struggles with controlling the face from the weight distribution on hybrids, a 2 iron like this sound like the best thing for me.

I have a 3 iron crossover and it’s been a great club for me. I find it easy to hit than a hybrid….performance wise longer than equivalent hybrid with same loft. Very happy with it. Playing off 11 at the mo. Seems to be forgiving enough with the odd mishit. I was told numerous times they were not very forgiving. Wish I’d went with one sooner than I did tbf.

The one club in my bag that i never worry about is my 2020 mizuno clk hybrid. It’s just gonna be more versatile than any iron shaped club. It’s also excellent at rescue shots under trees with a. Little punchy wrist hold swing.

I’ve been really struggling with consistency with my driver the last few years as I learn new stuff with my swing. I decided to get a driving/utility iron and after trying the Titleist, Taylormade and Ping versions, I went with the ping 3. I played it for the first time yesterday and it was awesome. My biggest misfit is extra fadey ball flight to the left (I’m a lefty) and this club handled this really well. If it was my driver that same swing would place the ball 2 fairways over. You mentioned it was a loud sound of the face and I felt the same when I demo’ed it indoors. However, the sound was barely noticeable to me when I was outside playing. Distance wise, I got about 215-220 carry on straightish shots, which is what I expected. Center hits feel awesome. No more driver for me. I hit my irons pretty decently and feel really comfortable with them so I have no problem having a 160 or 170 into a green Vs 125 with a good driver shot, which doesn’t happen for me often anyway. I played with nothing but my irons yesterday and shot to my handicap (15). When my driver doesn’t perform add 10 to that. No more driver for me.

Wow… it’s been a while since I’ve seen my 3i but that look reminds me so much of my bladed Mizuno 3i. Probably the best looking crossover Ping has put out! It just sounds like a hybrid to me from the video.

I own the previous model ping crossover. Love the idea of it, not sure I’m good enough for it. In reality my hybrid will always be more consistent for me. I tend to spray the crossover all over the place. I have found that it’s super helpful with those super-low punch shots under pine branches.

I have the previous / outgoing model in a 3-iron. It’s awesome. I actually think I’ll be getting 4-iron too. I think the 2-iron would be so strong that it would start to get into a 4-wood distance.

Mark, I'm a bit disappointed that you didn't show us some shots after changing the loft/lie to see what it could do. Otherwise, good stuff as always. And YES I'm definitely interested in the iCrossover- it could replace my 5 iron and/or possibly my 22° Callaway Apex UT

Surprised you’ve not got a Srixon ZX utility to play around with. I got a 20 degree one about 6 months ago and love it, it’s my go to off the tee when driver isn’t needed 👌

Just purchased the 4 iron. I play off 14 with a swing speed less than 90mph, but it works for me. I still struggle with hybrids, and the iCrossover fits in with my i210s. I’ve tried the Titleist U505 in the past but it felt too heavy. This feels great with the Alta CB stiff graphite shaft. So not just for golfers with a faster swing speed.

I have no need a for a driving iron where I live, but someday I'll pick one up whenever I can make my way across the pond to play in Scotland, Ireland or England.

Taylormade GAPR similar and nearest competitor looks wise. I have the 2 iron and love it.

Got one, love it. Find it much easier to control loft than a hybrid, especially into the wind. Clicky feeling is not a problem as use pro v's and click translates to feel; for me 🙂

I definitely think it is the best looking in its category the sound is a little funny but overall I like it 👍

I love black club faces; I think it plays a trick on my on making the ball look bigger and easier to strike lol

They blend nicely with the i series irons... put the 4 into play then 3h/5w...

It looks amazing. Ping definitely always seem to never listen to the noise of other manufacturers and in my opinion always deliver world class clubs. I personally wouldn’t be bothered but how much does the black scratch up over time?

I've been really considering one of these more hybrid irons. I had some old Big Bertha Irons from like 2014 in this similar principle. And I could smash the 4 iron in that set. I feel more comfortable with a utility iron than I do with a hybrid oddly, which I realize isn't the norm.

I would love to see the P790 UDI 2 iron vs the iCrossover 2 iron. I mean I don’t know why I want to see it as I would never play a 2 iron but I feel like it would be a good comparison. I play a Srixon ZX 4 Utility then go to a 7 wood. I love hybrids in theory but I just can’t stop them from going left which is of course all me and not the clubs fault. I also play a chipper thanks to Mark. I don’t think I would ever play without one now. It’s hilarious and fun.

Hit this club today in the 4 iron. Loved the look. Like that it's adjustable. Performance was ok. Sound and feel were horrendous. Srixon ZX Utility was better in every regard other than it's not adjustable. But I was looking for a long iron replacement and not a hybrid replacement.

Interesting. I confess I haven’t tried this lates model but I have tried it’s predecessor. I have a 30+ year old Ping Zing 2 one and two iron and (for me) nothing has as yet bettered them. There is a challenge for you in the new against old category!

Bought one and like it but def not as forgiving as my g400 crossover which looks like a spade 😅 the reason I changed was firstly looks fantastic and secondly i can keep the new one much lower in certain shots and easier to shape

Ping used Arcos data to determine that better players were the ones using this type of club successfully, that's why they changed this from a G series club to an i series....

I like irons better than hybrids. I just picked up my iCrossover 2 today with the ping 2.0 tour shaft, and I love it. Much better for me than the TM UDI. I couldn’t hit that club to save my life. I’m a 17.9HCP and I don’t want to look down on a chunky iron.

I think it compares more to the Titleist T200 driving iron than the U505. Nevertheless impressive performance! Still not sure if I should give it a try or go with a 7-wood.

Late to the party better late than never...new to me Blueprint irons in the bag for the upcoming year and I'm seriously going to test out the icrossover 4iron as it could very well go into the bag versus the Blueprint 4iron for the short par 4s or going into a green on par 5s. Help in the long irons = good.

They look like the g410s but black. They are stronger lofts than the 410s by half a degree, but there is the added adjustability. I find my g410s a little light with the hollow head. I need to add some hot melt, I would prefer a weighting system to adjust.

Yes, swing speed definitely matters on a club like these driving irons and that's all I see here. Definitely for the golfer who isn't afraid of long irons.

Im rubbish with hybrids game and game the 3 iron i crossover its great 230 out never out far right or left with it. Handt on short par 4s lay up etc. Er its loud though!

3:11 Mark, will you please clean your irons before OCD me has a conniption! As to these irons, I think I do better with my TM Sim 19* hybrid - easy height, easy distance. Driving irons are just more work for me.

I'd game that 2iron if I was playing in the wind/links instead of a 3hybrid I think

Try the Mizunopro Hi Fli 2 iron

I simply cannot hit a hybrid so I don’t even consider them. I chose my Cobra King Utility over my Miura ICL-601 for its adjustability (18-21*) even though the Miura was such a smooth striking club. The Cobra gaps nicely between my 5-wood and my 4-iron.

How do you think this compares to the P790 UDI?

Shame they are not making this as a 5 iron. Slot right into a set of i230’s!

I have a 2iCrossover and a 3Crossover. The 2i hits dead straight, long and easy to launch everytime off low tee and on long fairways. . Love it. The 3 becomes a tight fit from my Mizuno Jpx 5iron, so I use the 2i more to fill gap and shorter Par tees.

The Taylormade UDI is definitely a thinner sole.

Ping changed the face material this model. Made from a thinner material Ping has used in their fairway clubs before.

These irons are really good-looking and the results seem to be really good as well, but the sound might put me off.

From that test you hit the irons better than the hybrids , gaining your speed has changed your game ,you played for ages with hybrids because you needed the distance and height to stop on the greens , interesting to see your bag changes moving forward bruh.

As my usual 4 ball always tell me “you are turning into Mark Crossfield!” I don’t think this club would suit my bag (5 wood & hybrid, longest iron 5 iron power bat)
