Pinky is one of the most selfless characters in any cartoon. Normally a cartoon character is motivated by greed or a desire to own something (like Baloo and his plane in Talespin), but they still have friendship. Pinky however is wholely motivated by his desire for his friend to get what he wants most in the world. Sure, he's a bit dim, but he will always drop what he's doing to help Brain succeed, even if he messes things up in the end. If only we all had a friend like that.
Ironically, if the Brain had gone through with his plan, Pinky would have gotten his wish - the Brain would have the world. The Brain loves Pinky, but he mostly has blinders on. But he always gives up a chance to take over the world to save Pinky.
I remember reading somewhere that the only reason this show works so well is because Pinky and the Brain deeply care about each other. I can definitely see why.
Once I learnt Maurice LaMarche and Rob Paulsen actually were in tears through recording this scene, I was amazed at how much depth that really adds. You can absolutely hear it which is what makes such a touching scene even more so. I'm 25 and still cry watching this. P.S. By any chance, do you have in that big old bag of yours; The world?
I always come back to this clip for a tear or two. You know he's moved when he's reading the letter but when he reaches that PS part he just tips over. Tears well up, looks up, then looks back down at those words that Pinky wrote. It's even more moving because he's such a small guy wanting something so big for his best friend >_< You never get anything and your best friend wants to get you the biggest thing and the thing you want most.
God I just Loved watching Pinky and The Brain every single Day after School with my little Brother and Sister!!!!! Ahhhhh Old memories, and good times!! Pinky and The Brain was easily my Favorite Show Hands Down!! =)
Pinky is by far the most kind and heroic character in any cartoon he is selfless, kinda clever, kind, caring, only wants what's best for his friends. I love em
"He never gives up, but I know it must be very hard...so please...take anything you have for me and give to my best friend in the whole world, the Brain."
Thank you so much for putting this one! I remember that the first time that I watched this clip I was crying with brain... I REALLY love this video....
hi hairandglasses, thank you very much for uploading this part of this episode! I love this one ;-) by the way: do you have the pinky and the brain reunion special?? I've looking for it for months...
I think its lika dayjawoo about yesterday same about the pinky and the brain . What we gonna do for the tomorrow night brain .try to take over the world.
Plz don't make creepy fan fiction about pinky and the brain getting together and all that Unless you intend on making it bad thus making it hilarious I'm all down for that lol
While this isn't the first time it's shown how much Pinky and Brain care about each other, I feel like this was the best showing. It's just amazing, and the feels are so real in this scene~
They are actually. Both voice actors cried threw this performance. Though how could you not. The writing was really corny but the feeling of the season was there. Up untill this moment the episode was just another silly Christmas themed episode.
This scene makes me really sad for both Pinky and Brain. Pinky, because he only wanted his friend to be happy and never had the chance to go through with his plan, and gets little but abuse and criticism from his companion; and Brain, because frankly I don't see him as a villain or even a real jerk. Rather, he's someone who's driven by serious ambition, and who relies on logic and intelligence rather than the sentiment and emotion that Pinky possesses in such droves. I mean, why WOULD anyone as logically-minded as Brain care about something as seemingly trivial as a letter to Santa, next to being on the brink of taking over the world? I think the splicing of their genes has left Pinky with the heart and emotion of both mice, hence his unfaltering niceness; and Brain with the intelligence and logic of both mice, hence his usually cold, cynical demeanour.... Anyway, I cannot help but feel sad for both of them, seeing Pinky in tears over his failure; and then Brain in tears clearly thinking "He's been heartbroken all the time on MY account - and all I did was push him away..."
This is a very good example of good story writing and voice acting. Brain speaks in monotone, but you can feel the emotion that he's conveying. I'm a 26 going on 27 and this scene still makes me cry.
Your ability to see emotion decreases with age or what? Well seeing as you'd be almost 30 now I suppose you can tell me if you can still detect emotion from this scene and anywhere else
