The Dark Side of the Moon was the first album I learned when I started playing guitar when I was in the Navy. David Gilmour was the reason why I bought a black Fender strat and self taught myself when I was in the Navy. I really like this video. Unfortunately I can’t play guitar anymore. I was in a bad car accident and broke my neck. I have had 3 cervical neck surgeries. The first was was cervical discectomy with fusion. The second was from the back of the neck and put screws and bars from C2 to T2. And the 3rd was another discectomy at C2-C3 with a metal spacer to fix 3 loose screws and fix the the Cervical Kyphosis that developed after the second surgery. I now have more metal in my neck than my wife’s new 2024 Kia Forté. Most of the time, my hands won’t do what my brain tells them to do. I drop things constantly I go through about 3 iPhones a year from constantly dropping it. But sometimes my hands work correctly and I can get away with playing guitar for an hour or so before everything goes back to not working. I am very lucky I am not a quadriplegic. There use to be a drawbridge for boats just as you enter the 18 mile stretch going north from Key Largo. At the Goliath Grouper Pass, they put in a drawbridge for large boats and sailboats. I was on my way to Skydive Miami in Homestead, Florida to do night jumps that evening. I stopped behind about 50 cars waiting for a large sailboat to go by. No sooner did I stop, I saw this big ass black Buick in my left side mirror hauling ass and not slowing down. The only reaction I was able to accomplish in a split second was to stand on hard on the break peddle, I had a 5 speed manual transmission, I also started to pull the parking break and also started to turn my steering wheel to the right to avoid me going into the car in front of me. She hit me doing 80 miles an hour. They determined that she never applied the brake. She didn’t have ABS and she left no tire marks. I left 4 of them as I went off the road. I just missed the car in front of me and I went down the embankment and the front of my car was in the water. Her left front corner bumper center punched my rear number. She tried to turn right. I had a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T. The center of my back bumper was relocated to the back seat. My parachute rig, which was in the passenger seat went out and through the passenger window and ended up under her car. Due to the damage to the entire rig, everything was damaged to the point it was no longer safe to use when jumping out of airplanes. I had just spent $6,000 on it a few months before the accident. So my parachute rig was a totaled loss. She said my brake lights were not working. They tested them and all 3 brake lights still worked. In my mind, I figured her insurance would cover the cost of my skydive rig. As Florida Highway patrol was collecting both of our information, they discovered that she didn’t have a valid DL, insurance, and discovered she overstayed her Student Visa and didn’t go back to Guatemala when she dropped out of FIU in her freshman fall semester. She was arrested. Paid her bail and fled back home. A few years later, she was arrested at DFW when she was going through customs. She was given a free ride back to Monroe County and spent a few years in jail, was deported after that. Oh dear, did I get off topic. Shoot. My apologies for rambling on. That accident ended my job at Skydive 🪂 Miami, and I can’t pass ANY FAA Medical for the FAA to resume my pilot training. And the reason for this memory was because I was listening to this song when the accident happened. Blue Skies… Fly 💨 Fast Fly Hard ✈️
