If you get a chance, watch Pink Floyd's movie THE WALL. It's a mind blower. Visualizes this whole album; like an opera. The songs belong in order. This song is part of that movie and the hanging up of the phone is, too. I love watchin' it while in an altered state, if you get my drift. 😊

This song has one of the best guitar tones ever.

Is there is such a thing as a bad Pink Floyd song?? Have you visited the Animals album yet? it's pretty heavy and soooo good. Sheep, Dogs, Pigs - great songs. Go for the remix, it sounds so intense.

Watching The Wall Movie is a MUST, if anything could possibly blow your mind at this point this movie Definitely Will. What happens after this scene is wild, and on through Comfortably Numb.

A hallmark of The Floyd is their ability to adapt the music to the message. This is from the album The Wall. An album that tell a tragic tale. It is has some heavy biographical elements. In this song it follows the young lead character, Pink, out into the world as a fledgling rock 'n' roll star as he hooks up with strange woman. This is the stuff of rock legend of course. At the end though we see he has a wife at home. This is a theme that runs through the whole album. The main character feels free to be promiscuous with woman because that is the rock lifestyle. But, at home the wife has taken a man into her own bed. This becomes another brick in Pink's wall. He feels betrayed. This particular incident recreated with a real overseas call was one of Roger Waters' most painful memories. While on tour with the band in 1975 he made a collect call home to his wife Judy. A man answered the phone and then hung up. Roger and Judy were soon divorced after that.
