One of the great things about being bi-racial, I was introduced to music from every genre. My mom introduced me to all the great Motown artists, blues, jazz, etc. My pops (white) he introduced me to all the rock Gods! His favorite was Pink Floyd. When I was about 10 he introduced me to PF! I remember him telling me, "You probably won't understand this now, but someday you will. You don't just hear Pink Floyd. You FEEL and you EXPERIENCE Floyd!" My pops was right! I didn't understand! But, I sure do now!
He was definitely right , I see that , well feel that , I can't put into words but it is a feeling, and you were blessed to see the whole board young not just one side , salute to your pops and mom
Nice words Luna. My kids are biracial and I'm the white Dad playing PF in the background. My wife is Maori so lots of blues and soft stuff. Our daughter Ebony is 18 now and she is introducing us to the new sounds.
I never was a huge Pink Floyd fan growing up (never really gave them a chance), but as I've grown older I've come to really appreciate their music. Their best songs sound as fresh today as they did decades ago and I think they are unrivaled when it comes to creating music that takes you off to somewhere else. Most of my friends that liked them when I was young were smokers, and I can see how the two would go hand in hand.
@@abracadabra3033 He's right, the studio version. However, afterwards I'd suggest in your personal time watching the live version on RU-vid with Sam Brown singing. It's insane
@@abracadabra3033 And the "Pulse" version of "High Hopes", best of which is the 2019 "Pink Floyd - High Hopes (PULSE Restored & Re-Edited)" clip on here as it has more of Gilmour on the console steel slide guitar than the original.
That’s funny because I saw the High Hopes song and added it to my next one from them , anticipating what it’s gonna sound like so the Pulse version , gotcha , thank you
Please specify UNCUT version as everybody is viewing the edited version. Version everybody is watching is total length 9:52 and has 16M views. The Uncut version is 10:59 and has only 160K views. And everything that is cut, is from the finale!! Over 1 minute of guitar genius has been cut!! And don't watch the 'remastered' uncut version, it seems like they tried to patch something together to get the best visuals, I find the original uncut version the best. I am trying to get everybody to see the full version, it deserves it.
@@helmutvogel901 The uncut version of "Comfortably Numb" is of very poor quality as it was lifted off the telly from the live PPV broadcast. And the person who edited the guitar solo was Gilmour himself as there were some notes in the (now) excised section he didn't like (it was not edited to fit on the original VHS tape as some think). If Gilmour had wanted us to watch/listen to the uncut version he would have restored it on the CD, DVD, and Blu-ray releases, but he didn't, so the official PULSE release is Gilmour's own preferred version of this song, not the uncut version.
David Gilmour's guitar playing is amazingly emotional. It's like the guitar is "speaking" to us. There is no other band like Pink Floyd. They are geniuses!
This is the first day I've heard your reactions. I appreciate the thought and effort you spend in understanding the song in front of you. It shows your respect for the artist's effort and your willingness to be receptive to wide variety of musical styles,. And that, my fellow music lover, is what makes for the kind of open-minded listening we need more of in his world. Cheers!
Watching you discover this amazing music is a pure joy. Truly. I’m so grateful that there is this new awakening to the extraordinary music of the past.
Pink Floyd mixes together sounds and recorded conversations in with their music in ways that create images and emotions inside your mind. You don't just listen to their music... you feel and experience their music.
I listened to the Pulse version of this and during the second solo, I cried. There was something almost spiritual in the way Dave Gilmour connected with the music. It still chills me.
People often cite the first solo as the greatest of his, and sometimes as the greatest of all, but I disagree. The first one is definitely beautiful, but the second then shreds its memory and goes further, deeper, and in theory could just go on blistering away forever.
I grew up on Floyd, my parents were hippies and lived in a commune , I ran away and joined the Royal Navy. lol, As I got older I can understand better Floyd and the message.
Thoroughly enjoying your journey along a path that I took over a supremely rewarding six decades or so here in the UK. As approach my 70th year I realise just how important the 50s, 60s and 70s were in informing and influencing my musical ‘tastes’. Enjoy this adventure my Good Fellow; what wonders await you!
I love how you put that , Supremely Rewarding , and I’m definitely seeing the creativity of these artist from those time periods , they were special and did shape the culture , thank you very much and I’m loving my journey through the music , I find myself researching the history of the time and what was going on in society then to shape how those artist created ,
The DNA of Music knows no boundaries; real or imagined. :-) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GaB9F3R9cIY.html ‘It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World,’ James Brown / Luciano Pavarotti
To me music is a universal social medium that all people can relate to and it is a true magical way to get someone else to feel what you felt in that moment. You can tell from the delivery if the musician or song writer experienced what the song is about and that is when truly beautiful music happens.
Nice that you're discover all that good old Music to keep it alive for the young Generation , thx for that Pink Floyd is not only Music , it is Art on high Level . Unique Watch a live performance will knock your shoes off
These guys talent level and willingness to write concept albums really produced some gems in music. The Dark side of the moon is an entire album of good, great, fantastic. Glad you found these guys.
As a lot of other people have said, you need to watch the Pulse Concert version of this song. i was at the concert and every time i listen to this, it takes me back yo the concert, i have been a Floydie for 50 years now, and can play a lot of their songs on acoustic guitar. you have just started your journey. each album in itself is a journey, and each song is a different road to get to the end. Pink Floyd consists of 15 studio albums, three live albums, nine compilation albums, five box sets, six extended plays, and 27 singles. and of course the movie "The Wall". happy travels man
Your second listen to Pink Floyd... The very most important thing you need to know about Pink Floyd is that their Studio Work is mind blowing, but their live work is one hundred times BETTER! Listen to them live. You will never regret it.
The Guitar solo at the end of this song in the live Pulse version, will totally blow your mind, I promise, please do the extended version. The other version cuts out a chunk of the guitar solo. Suggested Songs: Comfortably Numb (LIVE PULSE) High Hopes (Any version) Time (studio version) any song from the 1994 pulse concert, or the David Gilmour (2016 (LIVE POMPEII)

@@psbarrow I know about Gilmour taking out part of the solo, and I can see his point. But I prefer the full version, the mere length is part of what makes this solo great. As for the two "sour notes", they sound fine to me.
@@abracadabra3033 lol I remember listening to dream on by Aerosmith in the middle of the Saudi Arabian desert on one of those saudi nights that were so bright the stars felt like they were closer to the earth and thinking this is what heaven must feel like. I also tripped on acid over there during a night fire range holy shit that was insane!
@@jarhead4ever1 you know what's crazy , it was Bob Marley for me during that time, and Dream on is powerful so I know that memory is forever with you , songs like that can take you back to a specific moment like it was yesterday
Great reaction! So glad you're discovering all this great old music. Love your background, btw! You're right, music is the universal language and healer
Your reaction to this song makes me want to re-listen to the entire dark side of the moon album while laying down with my eyes closed in deep thought and translation. ✌❤💫
😀, you sound like me , that’s always the state of mind I’m in , eyes closed in deep thought and translation , absolutely, that is exactly the mood I was in this morning while reacting , you’re cool
Best reaction channel I've found. You are so respectful of the songs you're checking out. In regards to Floyd, that is exactly the way to listen to them!
You are so special man, listen to it and then make a judgement, get it inside you first, wear it, taste it relax and then live it without interrupting, so good.
Metaphorically this song means so much more to people individually than the incident you read about what inspired it. Such is the nature of true art. It also takes on deeper meaning within the context of the concept double album it comes from "The Wall'. All part of a much larger narrative told in the course of the album. One of the all-time best-selling albums in the world. You should check out "Time" by them next from a different album, Dark Side of the Moon.
Just to say I'm agree 100%. "The Wall" jumped the borderline of music and it is, itself, an other dimension experience and it has to be enjoyed as a whole. You simply cannot listen just one song, as much you can't read 3 pages and consider the book is already read.
I’m really appreciating your vibe and break down if the songs your reacting too. Its good to hear a more mature persons description of the meaning of the lyrics. I also love your song choices- so far I’ve liked them all.
I enjoyed your reaction to a band that I've grown up (and grown old) with. You're very perceptive and your analysis of both the music and the lyrics were right on the money for me. Thank you man.

As a major Pink Floyd fan, i really liked watching you enjoy one of the greatest , if not The greatest bands of all time. I believe youll enjoy most all of Pink Floyd songs. 2 thumbs up man!
Pink Floyd: Time - From the album The dark Side Of The Moon As relevant today as it was then and will always be. All the best from the far north of New Zealand!
I was 15 years something when I listen to P.F. 1967 these bands from that time would make their concert dates no matter what it took, loyalty to their fans lasted there and my life. "Loyalty" sadly missing today ..
Watch the movie “Pink Floyd - The Wall” & listen to the whole ‘Rock Opera’ album of the same name. Rock & roll stories are often just that...stories! The WHOLE ALBUM is like a musical story, a symphony, a work of art!! 🥰🤯🤩
That second guitar solo is widely considered one of the top 5 guitar solos of all time. David Gilmour is probably your favorite guitarists favorite guitarist.
Probably my favorite rock and roll tune of all time, musically and lyrically. "When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look but it was gone. I cannot put my finger it on it now, the child is grown, the dream is gone." Just crushing lyrics about the loss of childhood innocence. The song is more than about just trying to get up for the show. To truly understand, please watch the film, Pink Floyd the Wall.
A great song about the hardening of hearts and the growth of cynicism as you get older. How you lose appreciation for all the experiences, sights, sounds, smells, beauty, truth, slowly as you grow older becoming comfortably numb and just accepting of the world without reacting to it.
This song is about an original member of the band that became so doped out of his mind from psychedelics that he literally had to get drugged in order to be able to walk on stage. I hear you're feeling down Well I can ease your pain Get you on your feet again The lyrics are a dialogue between Syd Barrett and the drugs, written by the band to honor him and his personal struggle between reality and the perpetual state of tripping he ended up in as a sequel of drug abuse. When I was a child I had a fever My hands felt just like two balloons Now I've got that feeling once again I can't explain you would not understand This is not how I am I have become comfortably numb Anyway, if you think those Pink Floyd songs are a special kind of vibe by themselves, try to watch their live videos. Only then can you understand the dimension their sound came from.
If you want to experience the full effect of this song then you should watch their movie "The Wall". It's a movie but ties their songs into the scenes.
At last, someone said the right words. The movie was, and still is, the true masterpiece of The Wall experience. I have no words, just advise all to see the Alan Parker's genius movie!
You'll never get to see Pink Floyd but according to them .... if you want to experience them and you see .... The Australian Pink Floyd Show in your area .... get tickets and you'll experience almost the real thing. I saw them in Liverpool a few years back and they blew me away.
You can see THE AUSTRALIAN PINK FLOYD SHOW on the tube like this one .... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TXpxMt4g67A.html but there's lots more to choose from .... superb tribute band. That good that they played at the wedding of one of Floyds band members.
You can’t listen to this in isolation from the rest of The Wall, it’s part of a story. Dark Side of the Moon, the album cover shown was a collection of songs but Floyd were at their absolute best when an album flowed seamlessly from beginning to end
Abracadabra 303 I like how you came straight to the point: “I ordered the album” It’s like being asked to try weed, and replying that you already hitting dabs now
