That bird chirping at the beginning fitted the music quite well......even the lyrics! ("there's a songbird that sings" and "there's a bustle in your hedgerow" and then the cat appears, LOL. The live version of this from Madison Square Garden in 1973 has an extended (double-neck) guitar solo that's a classic.
It's really nice to have a reactor who isn't thrown by non literal meaning. Who appreciates poetry, mystery, metaphor, allegory and ambiguity. It appears to be a rare kind of understanding nowadays. :)
I’ve said this to other reactors, you have no idea what’s about to hit you with this band. Enjoy. Check out “ Since I’ve Been Loving You, Kashmir and In My Time of Dying”.
MUSIC HAS NO BOUNDARIES It's in our DNA .....even the ANIMALS As you can see..🎶😎 😽...Meow man that was cool... ......... (I know that last part is silly but if you add the Cheech & Chong accent ....it works)😑 😝
New subscriber here. My Boyfriend introduced me to Led Zeppelin and I've never looked back. This band had literally changed the way I listen to music now. Coming from a hip hop fan with a rock girls heart ✌❤💫
Hey it's the 77 year old grandma, this is a song that each person will get something different from it, it speaks to the heart, spirit and soul of men and women. It will take you to depths like never before if you let it. Determined by the spiritual condition of your heart and soul. One of my favorite songs ever. I could write a book on all the things it says to me.
@@abracadabra3033 wonderful, I have subscribed to your channel, and adopted you as a spiritual son, will be keeping you in prayer, enjoyed your reaction. God Bless
You have just listened the #1 song in rock history by the #1 band in Rock History. There has never been, or will there ever be, a band that is better than Zeppelin. They are iconic Rock legends. Do yourself a favor and listen to their 1973 live performance of this song. It blows the studio version away a million times over!! I bow down to the greatness that is Led Zeppelin!!
The production values back then, when they only had 8 or 16 tracks, puts today’s production values to shame. Never over produced, clean, clear, and each band’s songs were as totally unique from each other as much as each band was unique from every other band. The sonic landscape of the later 60s and early 70s set a bar that has never been reached since.
Zeppelin is known for being a hard rock band. But they are heavily influenced by the blues, in particular, American blues such as Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf. Give “Since I’ve been loving you” or “When the levee breaks” a try.
Thank you much for that because I truly walk thru life showing much love and respect to all , and what’s funny is you and I share the same first name , and blessings to you Bro, I mean that sincerely
when you relisten to this (and ANY zep track) listen to each instrument individually, concentrate on the drums 1 listen and the bass/keys the next etc, youl soon discover the immense talent and depth to this band
Good choice for a first listen. Led Zeppelin is known for very hard rock but they have many songs like this where they go from soft to hard and back again. Their lead guitarist is a master and knows just when to use acoustic guitar and when to switch to electric guitar to get the perfect balance of sound. My recommendation for your second listen: “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You.” That one also starts off mellow with acoustic guitar, then goes large, then back to mellow again. I’m sure other commenters here will suggest more songs. Led Zeppelin was a hit factory back in the 70s so there are a ton of good songs out there. I predict that each new 70’s era rock band song you hear will make you want to hear more. The musicians of that decade actually influenced each other to produce better songs and the result was a ton of legendary compositions. Enjoy the ride, man.
@@nisipici I'm almost 75 and I totally agree with her! My late husband and I basically grew up with Led Zeppelin musically. Would say I've listened to them all of my life, but not yet! Hopefully I still have some more years to spend with them! I love listening to Robert Plant's new music, especially with Alison Krauss! 🎶🎧🤗🎶
Zeppelin will take you on a journey and each one is just as valid and unique as the person experiencing it. One of their credos is "light and shade", you will hear hypnotic riffs, deep grooves, and plumb the heights and depths with the only limitation being your own mind. Welcome to the Zeppelin family!
I love seeing a reactor who is open to art and humble in appreciation for something great. I also appreciate you not stopping every 10 seconds to chat about it. It feels like this is not an ego trip for you (unlike other youtube reactors), more of a sharing of your journey of discovery. Love the vids and the vibe you put out!
Back in the day, high school,1971 this was the national stoner anthem played at every party, bongs and beer, we used to call this HIGH way to Heaven. Everyone played this album at their parties, smoking and toking, no party was complete without listening to Stairway to Heaven. 40 plus years later my reaction to this song is more like what you're hearing and feeling for the first time but without the cloud of pot smoke fogging up the memories of what this song has meant to so many of us members of the stoner generation and beyond.
1981 is when I got the full plate of Led Zepplin(only knew what was played on the radio at that time). 15 years old, sitting in a small hut with a male friend of mine, with a record player ( his mom did not allow the music in her house lol) and just had my mind blown that weekend listening to Led Zepplin’s greatness from the first album on.
I've been listening to this song for almost 50 years and the meaning and interpretation of the song can take a long time to figure out. And I know the meaning can be different for everyone, while staying close to the same line. But I try to just feel the song and see what comes to my mind and blend it with the lyrics. I really loved your reaction and will enjoy following you on your music journey. Thanks so much! ✌
Bet you didn't know Zep did SOUL music, did ya? I didn't either till I heard this...."Baby, Come On Home".....it'll bring a tear to your eye & blow your mind all AT THE SAME TIME!!! Have at it my brotha!!
Great reaction! I once heard about a teacher who handed these lyrics out to the kids and she had each of them write about the meaning of the song to them. Well each kid had totally different images and I think I like it that way. I know mine is a journey in my own imagination when I hear it. Here's to your journey
That’s pretty cool that a teacher did that , because it truly opens the mind up to Perception , I’m still cracking my mind open now trying to comprehend it , but I love it that way , also thank you
My mother on her death bed asked me to play this at her funeral and I did! She was 39 yrs old and it was the worst day of my life. This song makes me cry every time and she passed in ‘98
This band was voted #3 best rock band of all time once when i watched a countdown on Vh1 i almost threw the tv out the window. They are not even from planet earth. Inconceivable perfection and I don't even listen to rock (except them)
You are exactly right. You have to listen to it several times to fully appreciate it. Sit in a nice comfy chair with your feet up and smoke a joint and give it a listen. That's how you listen to it like a true fan.
Led Zeppelin's trade mark in their music is to intensify as the song goes along...it could be mellow then gradually build into a hammering rock hard sound that blows you away...but very artistically bring it altogether. This song is a true example of that.
zeppelin is one of the greatest bands to ever graced stage or livedthey changed my life and ihad every album as it came outi saw them in 1975 again 1977try the song dazed and confused try the song you shook metry the song how many more timesall of these are from the first albumon the second album start with the lemon songcan you will realize you need to hear the entire catalog
🤣 I know I'm not the only one who burst out laughing at the line "There's a 🐦 songbird who sings..." 😒 considering all the 🐦 birds chirping in the background! So on point! 😍😊🐰 #ENRGYZRBunny
You're right, you can't listen to it just one time, that's why we were fortunate enough to get to listen to it 5 or 6 times a day on the Album Rock stations back in the day. Growing up in the 70s Stairway To Heaven was etched into our minds. It's been voted number one countless times as being the greatest rock song of all time.
"Stairway To Heaven" is not only THE antheme of the whole rock history, it's THE revelation at all. Now they have got your soul and will never give it you back.
you have just heard the greatest song ever by the greatest group ever-I am 64 years old and they still touch me every day-its so cool for me to watch you go through this discovery experience like I did years ago one album at a time....I recommend a tribute to led zeppelin at t5he kennedy center-about 20 minutes long
No joke , I really appreciate that , I love Art , and that piece is one of the most incredible pieces I’ve seen, I’m definitely about to check his work , thank you
The way I describe this song id it fills you up - from the tip of your toes to the ends of your hair. It's like having a great meal - when you finished you're full and satisfied and at peace, with things to sit back and think about. True artistry.
