Very much so. He's not a household name but Floyd fans knew what a talent he was and how much he brought to that band. Superlative musician and underrated vocalist. He blended perfectly with Dave's voice. Excellent harmonizing. He was a huge loss.
I had the pleasure of working as a local stage hand for the band at Giants stadium many years ago. I remember being back stage for the show and at the end of the night as the band was walking off stage I told David "Great show man". He looked at me and said, "Thank you very much'. I darn near fell over. That was my only brush with greatness. I have worked many bands before and after but like I said, my only brush with greatness.
this questionning/answering is the gimmick of Echoes, not only at the end: just listen the second part of the Live at Gdansk, which was recorded during the end of the tour: it seems Dave and Rick are playing tennis at their best level!
Sempre dolce e umile Richard... I suoi sorrisi vengono dal Cuore ❤️ Non riesco a dire di più Grazie per ogni suono, per ogni sorriso, per ogni grande emozione, per ogni lacrima che mi hai fatto versare.. Arrivederci Rick! Stai nella Luce!
My life has been made rich by the soul this man has. Pink Floyd was part of my youth and my adult life in the same way. I hope plays long and has good health. Thank you, Pink Floyd and David Gilmour.
God I miss him. Pinkfloyd was still alive when he was and died the day he did. Such a quiet talented man and a true musician. See you on the other side
Rest in peace dear Richard William Wright. Thank you for making me love keyboards all over again. You've touched my soul. You are forever missed and loved.
@@t-bagbagwell1327 I worry about Saint David. He's looking old! Gawd Floyd fans will be jumping out of windows..Richard was a quiet reserved man and I think old grumpy pushed the other 2 into the background at times and David was the one who took him on. Don't get me wrong I love Rodger and Floyd could not have existed without him, or any of them, but he was the writer and did a lot of the sound that made the band (on money and the famous cards people answer) alot of the detail was him As I've said 1000000s of times PF were greater than the sum of the parts. They really pushed each other to find stuff that they never did on the solo stuff. I can't listen to the pros and cons. Good God it's terrible. Radio Chaos is a good one and Gilmour is probably a better solo artist
Yes, and not many people notice that. It's one of my favourite Pink Floyd Songs, and Across the Universe, is actually one of my favourite Beatles songs. I first noticed it with the lyric "...inciting and inviting me to rise" Then I watched a few interviews with Waters where he openly admits he was extremely inspired by the Beatles and Lennon, in particular. I mean who wasnt?
Assuming we dont ever loose these videos, the Floyd have really achieved immortality in a way. I think them being such a unique sound that it will always be a big part of musical history, and then that brings you to all these videos of the band and how much there is written about their lives, they'll never really be forgotten.
The bassist and drummer having time of of their lives, and it's natural they are playing along side with greatest, Mr. Gilmour and late Mr. Richard Wright.
A gem from David and Richard, they harmonize so beautifully together. I think in this period Floyd were at their happiest in their musical direction and skill which gave confidence to record their infamous Dark Side of the moon.
Overhead the albatross Hangs motionless upon the air And deep beneath the rolling waves In labyrinths of coral caves An echo of a distant time Comes willowing across the sand And everything is green and submarine And no one called us to the land And no one knows the where's or why's Something stirs and something tries Starts to climb toward the light Strangers passing in the street By chance two separate glances meet And I am you and what I see is me And do I take you by the hand And lead you through the land And help me understand The best I can And no one called us to the land And no one crosses there alive No one speaks and no one tries No one flies around the sun
HDPinkFloyd I LOVE YOU GUYS FOREVER!!!!! Thank you for being the better part of my life and your songs that I play and sing for my family!!!! A million thanks!!!!
Echoes, by Pink Floyd. A MASTERPIECE of musical artistry! A tapestry of musical magic weaved together by the musical genius of David Gilmour, Richard Wright, Nick Mason, and lyrics by Roger Waters. Echoes is a TIMELESS, thought-provoking, emotion-evoking musical WONDER that is in a class all by itself.
Incroyable cet homme, David Gilmour, un très grand talent, les Pink Floyds ont marqué a tout jamais, l'histoire de la musique Pinj Floydienne si le terme m'est permis. Le top des tops Cordialement Aissa
One of the best songs ever written.❤️❤️ My two youngest sons love to hear the Pompeii version when it is time to sleep. I have probably heard it a couple hundred times now.
Just to see David and Richard play out the song together and close with the ominous wailing sounds like they just recorded it for the first time..... There are no words
Truly the greatest song ever put into the ears of humans. This song will inspire alien races to build conveyances to cross the universe to see the greatness of godly talent. This song either waters my eyes or brings tears to them. For I am rich for hearing this and no matter what the three things that I will reflect on is knowing Loveland being loved, my children and hearing Echoes in so many versions. Thisbis the holiest of holy songs ever cast and I am fortunate to share a time that Pink Floyd existed.
its bitter sweet for me, not being alive in the early 70's and 80's when Floyd was in their prime. i will never see them play live but i have the rest of my life to listen to what they created, so its not all bad..
This song, the greatest song of theirs and of anyone ever in my opinion, can never be sang again since Rick's passing... So sad, that would've made my life to see it live.
The best show I have ever seen in terms of ambience and musical prowess . Two and a half hours of sheer bliss at Calgary's jubilee auditorium in the 1970's . Thank you very much , too bad for those who dropped acid # 25 , they had to leave early as they were convinced David Gilmour's amplifier was attacking them ! Gotta love the memories . May God continue to bless ..
This song might be the most underrated song of all-time. It's absolutely fucking genius. The way David and Rick connect at the end....it's a song about communication/miscommunication. It ends with David and Rick figuring it out. There is miscommunication early on, especially with the musical break, which is great, but when David and Rick communicate to a T at the end, it's so beautiful. It brings the song full circle. What a beautiful piece of music and lyrics.
_____________________________ I am now 59 years old, I have my birthday two days before David and every time I hear this beautiful song I tear down my cheeks and all hair gets up. Goose bumps from the first hammer blow to the last sound of "Black Strat" and slide guitar and acoustic guitar THANK YOU SIR David Gilmour - I love all of your Songs, Thanks , Thanks , many Thanks for your Songwriting and evry single Note from your Fingers. .... Good bless you David Gilmour und your Famelie _______ please give me a like & tumbs up
Just fantastic. Friggin Guy Pratt on fretless fuzz bass no less. I always thought this was the song that made Pink Floyd. This is where they found their 'voice'. Thanks for the post. Really cool to hear w/ acoustic guitar and Rick picking up the lead bit. The really cool thing was that the band seemed to be having fun with this.I think that makes a great live performance.
Bet they all wish they could go back in time to this era. I know I wish they could. Missing Richard Wright, was glad I got to see Steve drumming with David Crosby a couple years ago in Minnesota.
Dave Gilmour - one of a very small number of musical heroes who I think would be good to meet - I can't imagine I'd feel good after meeting Sting, but a coffee and chat about guitars with Dave - yes please
