You will be surprised if you listened through the album Final Cut start to end. The album is very Roger Waters, Richard Wright was sacked by Waters and David Gilmour just came in to lay the guitars. Three songs are left-overs from The Wall... saying that, the album in my view is a masterpiece. Maybe more a Roger Waters masterpiece than a Pink Floyd recognized masterpiece. The album very much debates war and ties a bit into the Falkland war between England and Argentina over the Falkland Islands or Islas Malvinas as they are named in Argentina. But more than to dig into that specific war too much it is more of a follow-up on the Wall album I would say. Some song here are just fantastic, like this one. The intro with Post War Dream, Two Suns in the Sunset, Fletcher Memorial, and the Gunner’s Dream to name a few
The Final Cut is a very deep album. Can have some pretty dark (real) lyrics. Nothing bad, just touches on some very real moments in life for some people. I believe the album is based on Roger Waters father being in WWII. You can hear the pain and sadness in this album. One of my favorite albums from them but at the same time, it tends to make me feel on the sad side...because i can feel the pain from some of the lyrics. Hope you check it out
Yes Dru..will be praying to the big guy to help all those in OZ. So sad for them. Glad you are feeling well again..I really enjoyed this song & your reaction..so much of Pink Floyd I am also hearing for the first time as well..back in my day I heard whatever was being played on the radio but not until "The Wall" did I really discover them. As I always say "Great music is Timeless"!! Thanks again Dru! xo Suzi
The whole album is good but different. The band would break up after this album. It was almost entirely Rogers vision and concept. There's not a lot of David's guitar. Still very good. Rogers 3rd solo album Amused to Death is his masterpiece in my opinion.
Very underrated album.. Great reaction as usual . Its Roger Waters last album with Pink Floyd.. thus the final cut.. I hope ya had a great Christmas Dru.? Mine went well but back to work. Anyway Two suns in the sunset on this album. Is a great song..But if ya have kids its chilling in a way.. Its a song about how were all equal Great song..
Final Cut (1983) is more Roger Waters solo album and It was supposed to be their last. Roger left band (Gilmour and Mason) in 1985 saying: "Pink Floyd is spent force" (Rick Wright, keyboards was fired by Roger in 1980 after The Wall album). It was reserve plan B album of The Wall album 1979, and it wasn't welcomed by rest of the band/trio (David and Nick didn't think album is good enough). Album didn't follow any tour or concerts and Roger sued Gilmour and Mason when they continued using name PF in 1985/1986, before they made album A momentary lapse of reason in 1987, (reunited by Wright, again as trio but Wright instead of Waters) - he lost in court, and they continued without Roger. Album Final Cut is dark, tough and covering war and political themes.
Hi there Dru ! This is my second favorite song...learning it on the guitar now. So whats that in your windowsill? A book called "kitchen rules!?" Are you tryin' to cook honey!? You STILL GOTTA decorate your windowsill for Pink Floyd Fridays!
But in the space between the heavens, and the corner of some foreign field, I had a dream. The gunner is falling to earth and in those moments before his death he dreams of things that have been as well as what he was fighting for to be.
3:28 This is a reference to the Pink Floyd The Wall movie, as the protagonist Pink has a mental breakdown in a hotel room after his wife cheats on him.
@@Metalheaddru Don't mention it. This was an album that I listened to a lot in the 80's. Of course, it was on cassette tape and in my Walkman all the time. But it's good to see someone discover it. I think it's a much lesser known release.
#1--You MUST listen to the album song to song to understand this song...it is an opra when ya listen to it in sequence. Amazing story that picks up where The Wall Left off...OUTASTANDING story #2--Good on you for giving it a go...I suggerst the whole album....then The Wall and how they tie together
Please react to the Hu they're Mongolian and their videos are amazing. Check them out they are the coolest band on the planet right now. All of their videos are especially well done and the lyrics are deep and have meaning. I would recommend Wolf Totem, Yuve Yuve Yu, the Great Chingis Khaan this band is awesome.
