Nice to see you back doing some Pink Floyd-----my favorite band by far. When you get a chance, check their beautiful, mystical song, Echoes, live at Gdansk. David Gilmour and Richard Wright (half of Pink Floyd) and friends create a spectacular performance of this piece from Floyd's 1971 Meddle album. I think you'd really enjoy it.

A bit of trivia. This is the last song on the last album of Pink Floyd. (The Endless River album comes from The Division Bell recording sessions). If you let the album play past High Hopes. There is an answering machine recording that comes on. It is Steve O'Rourke, Pink Floyd's manager calling the Gilmour household. The answering machine picks up but then Polly's young son Charlie picks up the phone. O'Rourke recognizes it's Charlie on the phone which Charlie acknowledges but then he promptly hangs up. With a bit of exasperation, O'Rourke says "Great". "O'Rourke had let on early that he wished he could some how get onto a PF album but it was never to be until here. O'Rourke gets the last word, "Great". O'Rourke died in 2003.

I know this song so well, but every once in awhile it rips me to shreds. Thanks for sharing that with me.

Like so many people in your comment column or saying you definitely either should have or still should check out the 1994 live pulse version of this song!! Believe it or not it's way better and it's almost unbelievable to watch David Gilmour's closing guitar solo!!!

Who would have thought the guitar solo on this their final album of original content, would turn out to be among my favorite of all Dave's solos. You must see the live Pulse version of this if only to see what he does with it live. Spoiler alert: it is magnificent!

Spot on with your understanding of the song. It was written by David Gilmour about looking back on innocent times growing up back in Cambridge, England before the fame and fortune took over.

By the time you have reviewed a lot more Pink Floyd, you will become a complete addict for their Sound (and visual performances).
