Gilmour's slide solo here is one of his best ever, and that's saying something for the man responsible for Comfortably Numb!

I have to admit, that I listen to this song waiting for the Steel Guitar solo at the end. It's so sublime.

One of the best songs ever, written by the most influencial Band of all time, who are also one of the best selling Bands ever (about 300.000.000 till now/place 7)with the most succsessfull double-Album of all Time (the Wall) The easiest to listen Album of all Time (Whish You Were Here) and even the best Rock-Album ever (Dark Side Of The Moon)which was placed in Top 200 Billboard charts 773 Weeks in a row and 973 weeks overall(in germany ~ 1080 or 1083 weeks). So its *only* one of their Highlights. I love it.

This was a fully collaborative album & that’s why it sounds “different”, it took the band back to their roots & is actually the only FULLY collaborated album since dark side of the moon & that’s why its so amazing & has a true Pink Floyd sound

For anyone that may not have come across it, try David Gilmour at the Royal Albert Hall performing High Hopes. It is the best it’s ever been performed and the extended acoustic guitar solo at the end is so beautiful. It made me cry the first time I heard it. Utterly sublime.

I could see how the husband got emotional during the guitar solo. You guys really enjoy the instrument. The guitar solo is played on a steel lap style guitar.

Love that you played High Hopes by Pink Floyd. IMHO ... their best song. It appears that you won’t be playing videos any time , so if you love High Hopes, there is actually a longer and I believe better version done by the lead singer, David Gilmour. The guitar you hear near the end of High Hopes is a slide guitar played in his lap and he finishes the song with the most exquisite acoustic guitar piece in a phenomenal setting. So if you only view it offline, check it out: David Gilmour -High Hopes, Live at Gdańsk, Poland.

Or they can check out the David Gilmour - Live at Pompeii version from 2016, which is phenomenal as well.

I saw Pink Floyd at the Albert Hall in London. It was the performance with gentlemen from Crosby Stills Nash and Young as guests. The acoustic guitar ending Mr Gilmour did for High Hopes was breathtaking. I have never heard such sorrow, sadness and regret. His guitar was sobbing with emotion. The entire auditorium was spellbound. I very much hope one day that particular performance is released, the cameras were there.

John Edwards I don’t think it was “Pink Floyd” I think gilmour toured for his solo “on an island” tour with Crosby & Nash but yea gilmour definitely gave Floyd their sound & it that’s why you may think it was a Pink Floyd tour but it unfortunately for fact was not 😕 There was an interview I watched about gilmour joining Pink Floyd after Syd Barrett left & Dave had to do all of Syds work which he was extremely uncomfortable with & explained how he made the transition from the sound that Barrett had to make it his own sound & make his own mark in the music world, Gilmour gave the Floyd the sound they are most famous for & the sound that every fan recognizes as Pink Floyd 😎

Absolutely magnificent track from the legendary Pink Floyd. Another massive & influential band from my youth. Some of Floyd's stuff was a bit too far out there for me, particularly their really early albums but as years have gone by, I listen to it with a different ear now & appreciate how ground breaking they were musically. The live version of this track is absolutely incredible with Dave Gilmour giving an immaculate performance on a lap-steel guitar to deliver that soaring solo at the end of this track.

Yep this song is about the band remembering better times and how great things used to be, and how different times are now. After all most of Pink Floyd’s popular songs were written in the 70’s but this is a 1994 song.

This is after Roger Waters & David Gilmour fell out and the remaining members carried on as Pink Floyd without Roger. It was a sad time for the fans but more so the band. You guys are very perceptive & that is why your analyses are so interesting & intelligent

your analysisi is almost on point! like Kirti said, it is about the journey of the band itself. The picture which shows 5 members is the only picure of all the band members clicked together. Only after Syd Barrett left the band due to mental heath issues, David joined it. Looking forward to ur reactions to Echoes and Coming back to life. Good Luck!

Check out the live Pulse version of this song, it's absolutely magical. But make sure you pick a 60fps upload, because most other uploads have low quality audio. Search for "Pink Floyd High Hopes Pulse 60fps". P.S. The song is about the band reflecting on their past.

There is an even more epic version of High Hopes on David Gilmour Live At Pompei! There is a video of him playing that incredible steel guitar solo. A stunning performance. Also Comfortably Numb . I recommend that you two check it out for yourselves. If you could react to it that would be wonderful, but I won’t get greedy. Just discovered your channel today. I think I’ll stick around for a bit since you have such a diverse selection.
