Like all Pink Floyd songs, you can take it on whatever level you’re feeling. The “girl” he is singing about is our planet, but it works on other levels as well.
This song came out in 1994. And climate people were saying we would be dead by 2010. Did it happen? Gaia has her own plans. Doesn't matter what her children do. She goes through changes. Has since she was born. Humans are miniscule ants to her.
True, using an unhealthy and selfish human relationship between a man and woman as a metaphor for mankind's relationship with the environment and Earth.
Pink Floyd is just incredible! They use the same instruments as every other Rock band, and the sounds they create with those instruments, is so beautiful,.. and different than any other Rock band. A credit to the musicianship of all the band members.
Pink Floyds music was WAY ahead of it's time. Nice to see you wearing headphones 🎧 so you can hear and appreciate their sound quality 😁✌ Hope you get a chance to listen to the songs on their album called DARK SIDE OF THE MOON...😎👍
When I first heard this song, I agreed with you completely it is up-beat even joyous and David's voice and delivery are amazing. Then I read the lyrics. Now I see this song differently I see life seemingly bright and vibrant as the melody but the soul is twisted and broken by reality. The dream vs. his truth. The music is scary good and the lyrics make me nod my head at a truth I didn't want to face. "She will take it back. . . someday". That is not how love is suppose work. Nonetheless I love this song.
When you get a chance, react to SORROW, live version pulse concert. in format similar to Comfortably Numb, with a short solo, then ends with a long guitar solo, but more upbeat and ominous and in this case, the live song is way better than the studio version. Beautiful, alot of practice, their own studios they don't have to pay to rent quickly. But look at each one individually on this concert, are excellent seasoned musicians in their own right. Great engineering also. But also, they've been building to this point over 30 yrs to a great culmination concert. Don't see the box most of the time, it's covered up by the video
" the girl is mother earth". watch the official video. You can tell after Roger left the group( 1984) that their music isn't angry. the main rift in the group.
I see so few mention such. Roger is still hanging on to that "angry young man" rope as its worked so well for him. But Gilmour has always been more positive and upbeat in his music. Same for Rick. This album goes back to their roots where each had input. As far as this tour, they were asked, or it was pointed out that they seem to be having a lot of fun on stage, Gilmour's reply was "cuz Mr. Grumpypants isn't on stage".
They are so good at making there music so perfect because they have fifty odd years experience no substitute for that and in the early years they seamed more grounded and it has to be said made great music no question floyd have got their finger on the pulse of human emotions
Yes, this could be about a girl, but I've always thought that it's about humans' relationship with Earth. One day, after all the promises that we cannot keep, we'll be gone; she'll have taken it back. Bye the way, you have a new subscriber. Been watching for a while.
Listen to the turning away it's a must pink floyd to my knowledge they never touched drugs there was a lot of drug taking in the day but not by them what you get is pure magical genius they are in will always be absolutely incredible 😊😊
Well, even more music to smooth over the rough of any day. I just read other comments and they've cover all that I had to offer. So with that in mind, all that's left for me to do is give my most sincere thanks for being so open and honest in your appraisal of this album. Oh, and a lengthy reply to an email is in place. Bye for now.
I can honestly say I've never seen this version of it, either that or she done it for copyright reasons but yeah, destroys the whole visual impact of what a Floyd concert was.
To much talk. Listen to High Hopes Live. 2012 Robert Wyatts Meltdown. It might be the best live version of any song Ever. Rock n Roll is on an earthly level.Floyd is on a heavenly level.I been a fan for so long I can't remember. Maybe since I was 15 I am now 68.
It's a reaction video. I like to hear what she's thinking a particular moments in the song. I've seen other reactors talking over the song whilst its playing and that's annoying
