I was there. Still the best show of my life, hands down. When I tell people the lineup, they think I am joking. The beauty part was I had just flown in from California and had no idea about this show until the day before it happened. Next thing I know I am watching all the greats kick ass. What an amazing experience.
"It's hers!" Absolutely .. the definitive singer, and vocal composer, of the immeasurably sublime 'The Great Gig In The Sky.' :-))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) ...
Did not know about this piece. Thank you very much for sharing. And I liked the performance. Mrs. Torry was already in her 40's. Not an easy task to do, and I tkink she did great. Once again, thanks a lot.
Just PERFECT .. I've not seen this before .. the original on 'Dark Side' is of course sans visuals, and Clare's vocal is an overdub, with the benefit of a studio and post production (especially with Alan Parsons deft touch) .. here it's live, with Dave sitting right next to her accompanying, who I understand from documentaries on this, especially those including Clare's own recollections, directed her 'on the fly' that magical Sunday, to use her voice 'like an instrument' .. plus I understand the weather that night from Eric Cartman's comment here was atrocious, and the recording gear was non-professional .. but with it's own special charm that only a fan with a hand held camera can provide, including footage towards the end of the live screen showing Clare and Dave close-up .. thank you .. INFINITELY !!! :-)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) ...
I was in the crowd that day... I do not remember (or maybe I never knew) that Clare Torry sang "The Great Gig In The Sky". I remember that the wind was really gusting and the rain was pissing down. The big round screen eventually ripped off its frame. Dave gave the crowd a few words of encouragement... which was nice, as we didn't hear from him much in those days.
