Pink Floyd is art. Their best work is not their commercial stuff. They are definitely not metal, but they can be heavy. Their albums are meant to be listened to as a whole, so listening to just one Pink Floyd song is not going to reveal the whole conceptual genius.

I heard this album for the first time a few years ago when I was 17 and it blew my mind. I only listen to classic rock. Nothing else compares.

I wasn't born until 1967 but my brothers introduced me to all the great classic rock as I got older. Still today I still kick back in my garage to Pink Floyd, Bob Seger, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Doobie Bros., Creedence Clearwater, Led Zepplin, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, The Doors, Van Halen, Hendrix, Steve Miller Band, Bad Company. There's just so many great classic rock bands. So many great memories.

Listened to this whole album riding In a truck stoned in the middle of a blizzard. Cranked up. We didn't say one word the whole trip. It was awesome I fell in love with pink floyd that night.

David Gilmour is IMO the greatest guitar player of all time. I can’t explain it other than to say his play contains more emotion than any other I’ve ever heard, the solo in Comfortably Numb is a great example. the song Time has my favorite Floyd lyric. “You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today. And then one day you find ten years have got behind you. No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun. So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again. The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older, Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.” So good it’s ridiculous

Don't be depressed. One of my favorite PF gifts is reminders of what's important. Life is short. This song has carried me through the past 48 years of ups and downs. It is most profound song ever.

when I finally listened to the words of this song, I was in my mid 20's, it hit me hard, maybe depressed like you said, but then I realized and it sunk in about time- and that made me more conscious to where I valued it, for example, when I visit my parents or other elders I love, I make the most of that time and have made it a rule of mine to never leave upset or angry, always treat each visit like if its the last one.... and its made my life better with no regrets- there is nothing more valuable than time-

What’s amazing about David’s guitar style for me is that he doesn’t shred, play fast, tap or do any shredding techniques in general, (they didn’t exist when he learnt to play anyways) he just makes the guitar sing. It’s why I’d say he’s my favourite guitarist, absolutely beautiful.

I bought The Dark Side Of the Moon when I was a kid back in the 70s. I took it home and must have played the album at least ten times straight before I came out of my room for supper that evening.

I can't listen to these classic albums anymore, I'm old and I can't step in the same stream, but hearing you listen refreshes my love for the music. And you were really restrained, not showing off for the camera, yet touched by the music.

While I fully support any and all listening of Pink Floyd, especially from this album, I would also say that listening to The Dark Side Of The Moon as a full album... in its entirety... is a different experience and must be done.

A few years ago I thought companies like Spotify would be the death of music, then my 18 year old son appears out of his bedroom after listening to playlists and wants to know ; who are Pink Floyd, The Clash, Led Zeppelin, etc etc. He’s having a wonderful journey of music!

I think the biggest point you're missing with many albums of the 70's, is that that's what they are, 'albums', and are far better when experienced fully, from beginning to end. "Dark Side of the Moon" especially- It's almost one long song...

The entire album is a complete emotional metaphorical masterpiece.

One must remember that "Darkside of the Moon" stayed on the Billboard top 100 chart for more than 25 years. A achievement that no other artist of any genre has ever achieved !!
