Yes I've seen them, lucky enough to see The Wall at Royal Albert Hall. Never cease to amaze me. Nothing better than being there. So lucky. Love you two. Love from London. Jan
I'm 60. I was lucky enough to see Pink Floyd at opening night in Nassau Coliseum in NY for The Wall concert and the Pulse Tour in the 1990s . . . I wish I could have attended more, as this is my favorite band of all time. This music in intertwined in my life and I can never hear it enough. I'm thrilled younger generations are still discovering and appreciating the beauty and artistry of this band.
Seen Pink Floyd 2 times in 76 and 94 both times were AWESOME !! The 94 concert was in Bobby Dodd football stadium in Atlanta and it was packesd, was drizzling ran but still a GREAT show.
I can just imagine your reaction to this song when it was first released in 1973. With the right atmosphere and certain substances freely flowing, it would have been mind blowing !
To me "Us And Them" was always the best song on "Dark Side Of The Moon" and whenever it was performed live, you knew that the highlight was always gonna be that sax solo, but then again, the whole song was a highlight.
Gimme time, a bit o' medicine, and a recliner and I'll gladly waste an evening on the Pulse sets. Gods, what a show. p.s. In a lot of Pink Floyd live songs, they have these low, rhythmic tones and harmonies that just pull you into a trance. This song has them, but Comfortably Numb from Pulse showcases them.
I was fortunate to see them live 3 times in my life. They put on the most incredible show, from lights, music, vocals to the entire production of the show, just incredible. They stopped touring when Richard Wright (piano) died. That was so sad. Keep on reacting to more Pink Floyd, you won't be disappointed.
They stopped touring long before Rick died. They did a one off show with original line up for Live Aid in the early 00's. But I believe Pink Floyd's last tour was this one in 1994.
This is what I look for in reaction videos. Feeling like I hear music with fans. Despite different generas, they both seem into it. Makes me able to get into their music when we're all on the same wavelength.
There are so many layers to Pink Floyd. They guide you through a journey of sound and emotion. The next journey will take you places you didn't know existed. Then they'll do it again.
Next step, (Brain Damage + Eclipse) together since they are inseparable. Take the time to look at the lyrics, they are just as sought after as the music that accompanies them.
I think that any song that was played on Pulse that was also played on Delicate Sound Of Thunder, the ones on DSOT, musically are better. Across the board. The stage production on Pulse is better, but that's it. And you get some songs from The Division Bell. Trust me, I've been to both shows the first in '89 and in '94.
I met David Gilmour in 1984 back stage at a concert in Hollywood Calif. He gave me a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. , and I know all the great ones.
Saw them in the 90s - you have to imagine: not only the perfect music, the perfect lights - they where the first band placed the speakers in surround the arena !! MINDBLOWING
I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap frogged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION… I have seen Pink Floyd 4 times. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all.
You guys should review the lyrics in this song, because what it's conveying is super important to understand before you guys move on to other reactions.
Just so you know, there were over 14000 in attendance. Dick Parry was the maestro on the tenor saxophone. In this performance, they had seven vocalist.
You could and should listen to any song from this concert, Pulse, and it will amaze you, try Shine on You Crazy Diamond, Coming Back to Life, Run Like Hell.
No "echo button" used here folks. The echoes are actually being sung by the band members. Also the sound is considerably remastered in the studio before the video is released. To the audience the sound was so loud as to be painful.
Guys you must listen to the great gig in the sky off the pulse you guys will love the vocals the girls get a third of the song to solo no words are spoken
You two are one of my favorite reaction channels - you get into the nuts and bolts of the music while showing sheer joy! One of the biggest things I kick myself in the butt for is not being forceful enough to get off of work to see the pulse tour in Ames, Iowa (a few hours from where I lived at the time. However, I was fortunate enough to see the "In The Flesh" tour in '77 where they played the Animals album and the Wish You Were Here album - it was epic! And, nowadays, you can hear amazing re-creation of sound and lights experience with the tribute band "Brit Floyd", have seen them 4 times, they are phenomenal as well, try to catch them in 2022 if you can.
Well wolf hunters just look at the ages of the original members of pink floyd that tells you with age and experience comes the perfection that we all experience when we listen to the true masters of progressive rock I call it pure British class and it makes me feel very proud that my fellow countrymen have given so much pleasure to millions of people all over the world and continue to do so they are without doubt awesome
Dick Perry on sax, ( a session musician) who play on DSOTM. Dave call Dick up ( who shoes horses) and ask him if he would like to go on tour around the world. now there are horse walking around with a lip.
I had a piano teacher when I was a kid. To eliminate poor form with my fingers curved and sitting up, she had a ruler she would hit me on the knuckles every time I let my fingers slouch down even a lttle bit. A little extreme and my mom never knew about it until much later because I thought if she knew about it she would be mad at me and I’d get it again. But the truth is that even though I had small Hands and fingers I could barely do an octave but for the fact I kept my fingers curved and sitting up so awouldnt hit two keys at once. I know it’s not a big deal but when I see him play that piano I look at his hands and it’s so perfect how he does the same thing with longer fingers and way more talent. It’s just beautiful.
Watch out next time how Richard and David always keep closest eye contact. That's one of th reasons, I believe, that David refuses to play Echoes after Richard died, because the whole song is musically a dialogue between guitar and keyboard
For the album, various people at Abbey Road were recorded talking. "Us And Them" features the band's roadie, Roger "The Hat" Manifold, with advice on self-preservation. Well I mean, they're not gonna kill ya, so like, if you give 'em a quick sh ... short, sharp shock, they don't do it again. Dig it? I mean 'e got off light, 'cause I coulda given 'im a thrashin' but I only hit 'im once. It's only the difference between right and wrong innit? I mean good manners don't cost nothin' do they, eh?
I know what you guys mean about how perfectly everything comes together. The band by this stage had been playing together for decades by this point, and I think it's all very intuitive by that point... Along with being free from a certain Mr Waters (ahem)! But that's another story. In my humble opinion, Pulse was their peak. Just genius.
Song was edited way down and released as a single in early 1974, long after the album came out. It had been written several years earlier for the film "Zabriskie Point".
Love you guys and your musical choices. Just wish you'd keep your head still. Reminds me of a nodding dog on a 70's car dashboard. Not even in time with the music!
Great reaction! Next you two have to hit Any Colour You Like which is the next track. It's a 3-4 minute instrumental, a synthesizer and guitar jam. Its phenomenal! If you can swing it, Any Colour You Like should be played with Brain Damage, then Eclipse. The last two NEED to be played together though as they were constructed as one piece to finish out the Dark Side Of the Moon album. Looking forward to seeing what's next!
Love your reactions. You guys have been viewing a lot of great Pink Floyd tunes that get a lot of air play. Time to review a Pink Floyd performance when they were at their apex of creativity and experimentation. Check out a savage Pink Floyd performance of “Careful With That Axe” live at the Brighton Dome in ‘72.
Yes. Pink Floyd are capable of recreating their albums live. So much attention to detail. Like you mentioned the echoes only on certain words. I had a revamp of early Iron Maiden last year and this year brings me Pink Floyd. I’ve got them all on vinyl but I love watching the reviews. Cheers 🍺
@@thepragmatic6383 Floyd did the whole album DSOM at the concert. Therefore to say it lacks atmosphere is being misinformed. The sound production live was quadrophonic and perfect. I was at this concert!
@@sincesixtysix For the European tour, (including this Earls Court London show), they did indeed play DSOTM in full and in order, but for the North American tour, it wasn't the same setlist, some songs were missing like: (Speak to Me, On the Run, Any Color You Like, Brain Damage and Eclipse). Here is the song order for this portion of the show for North America: (Breathe - Time - Breathe (Reprise) - High Hopes - The Great Gig in the Sky - Wish You Were Here - Us and Them - Money). I attended this show two nights in a row in Montreal on May 23 and 24, and the setlist was the same both nights. When I was talking about the atmosphere, I was referring to listening to one song at a time in order to produce a reaction video.
This is how the small handful of Masterclass band's do it. Led Zeppelin Kashmir live at Celebration Day performance is another. Any song from that is epic also.
if u read all the lyrics and how this song is one of the most relatable songs ever to anyone who listens to it you'll know why pink floyd is pink floyd
One of the very progressive band of the late 60's to all 70's . Unique performance . I have to say that Maiden have picked various blendZ from them . A little to much discussion on their bandZ interraction . Personal aspectZ that sometimeZ maybe are misunderstood . This is magic . 5'15"-5'20" Love you Princess and the feeling of Sir Tra is insane eh !
Fantastic live performance of this great song. Loved your reaction and input in this video. Thanks for making and uploading this 😃 More Pink Floyd reactions please. Liked & Subscribed for more fun 👍
GOD GUYS....THANK YOU for mentioning the Engineer! This "Pulse" concert (especially now that it's been restored - yes I can hear the difference) is unquestionably the best live audio recording I've ever heard...
