If the thought of stepping out on stage alone terrifies you, or you've got a melody and/or a chord progression you want to show off, but it's sounding a little bit on the thin side, the Superego+ is a pedal that can back you up with a soft, airy, synth pad. An upgrade from the regular Superego, the Plus variant gives you effects, increased control over the synth engine, and multiple ins and outs to help craft your sound. I had a lot of fun trying this one out, and spent quite a bit of time exploring all of its features. I hope you like the video.

They’re definitely not afraid of putting something out, seeing how it does, and the just going “eh, that was fun”

EHX were definitely the very earliest dev to make especially strange and bizarre efx stomps, and their “everyday” effects, their fuzzes, choruses, etc are at the top of their class. And to this day, they haven’t lost it at all. They’re still turning out incredibly innovative stuff. I’m thinking of their “guitar-to-instrument” line for example. I have their Mellotron pedal and one of the organ pedals, and God willing, I’ll pick up the “bass” and “synth” stomps soon. I guess anyone reading can see I’m a fan of this dev, Lol.

I have a Superego on my board. Guitar goes into an SY-200 which uses the send to split the signal to a "guitar" path and a "synth" path, which eventually join at an EHX Switchbade+ (reversed inputs/outputs). I freeze the big synth chords from a String9 then play lead through a Fuzz Face and Boonar, basically playing Wright's and Gilmour's parts at the same time with accurate tone ;)

Love the format. Especially like the overhead view and the knob twisting. That’s how I’d play with it at home. I bought a looper and a shimmer reverb to basically do the same thing this pedal does in a single box. Only I suck at looping and this has many more effects than just shimmer. Wish I would’ve known this thing existed. EHX should give you all the dollars for such a great review. Glad I found your channel and I hope it grows. A+ review.

Excellent job, I have this pedal and I wish I saw this video sooner as its clear, to the point, and VERY easy to understand. This would have certainly helped me climb the learning curve faster. Given that can we get a review of the Meris- Enzo? They make great pedals but wow is the learning curve high at first.

I had the original Superego and foolishly let it go in a trade. As much fun as it was, I did always struggle with it sounding too "static", and ended up putting buying a zoom multistomp to put in its effects loop. This pedal is a much more elegant solution to that problem and seems to benefit from being a bit easier to control. Great demo as usual! Crossing my fingers for a Miku video next.

And the Big Muff is named after...haha! 🤣🤣 I have the more humble Superego but I've have never really bonded too much with it, mainly because of its tracking. Even with a compressor in front of it, it will miss the odd note. Brilliant video and can't wait until your next one!!

That thing is rad I had no idea it was so cool the normal super ego just seemed like a weird portamento effect that they didn't pull off that great.the person I'd seen demoing it would get a note frozen then it would try to bend to the next but always come out wrong

That's the thing, the regular Superego sounds really interesting but there's so much going on, I think I'd really want the extra customization to tweak that sound. The pitch bending can totally fit in some situations, but be annoying in others.

Nice demo. Does it do fast tracking? The use seems limited to sound washes only. There's no programmability. I love my SY-200.

It doesn’t really do the fast tracking thing like the SY pedals do. It’s more for the airy pad stuff which… I kinda find the SY-200 doesn’t do all that well. So it kinda works out that way.

From the manual: LIVE EFFECTS (MOMENT+AUTO+LATCH) In LIVE EFFECTS mode the dry signal is routed through the built-in effects of the Superego+ and the internal synth engine is disabled. You cannot freeze sound while in this mode. Use either the EFFECT or BYPASS footswitch to toggle an effect on or off in this mode. The effect signal is routed through the external effects loop after it goes through the Superego+ internal effects.
