that’s because of the chemical process that happens when you did any type of gel or any product that requires curing. doing thin layers allows the product to cure all the way and last longer
you can do matte but really it’s about buffing it . buffing makes the nail smooth and matte would just add another layer. if you choose to do matte do a very thin layer
I would use regular top coat when doing any nail art or frenchies. Because when you use regular top coat it’s easier to wipe off your mistakes when doing nail art. And I wouldn’t listen to the person above because it doesn’t matter how smooth the nail is you can’t erase your mistakes on regular nail or when you use matte topcoat. So always use regular topcoat when doing nail art and frenchies. Then if you want your nails matte you can use matte topcoat afterwards.
