Pinky's Westside Grill has been serving up tasty appetizers and unique burgers for more than a decade from one of Charlotte's most recognizable buildings. In this video, WCNC Charlotte forecaster Larry Sprinkle goes behind the scenes and in the kitchen at Pinky's Westside Grill in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The restaurant is most known for its White Trash Burger, which is a 5-ounce burger topped with provolone cheese, fried pickles (they're amazing), onion straws and spicy ranch. Larry Sprinkle and our photographer, Pierre Simmons had to give it a try while at Pinky's! In addition to the White Trash Burger, Pinky's most iconic treats include the fried pickles, corndog shrimp and Da Pimp, which is their famous homemade pimento cheese on grilled Texas toast sandwich.
Pinky's opened in 2010, when one of the co-owners of The Penguin in Charlotte's Plaza Midwood sold his shares of the restaurant. Andy Cauble and the ownership group at Pinky's decided to open up inside what used to be Triple G Automotive, a Volkswagen repair shop in west Charlotte. Cauble and his partners decided to keep the VW bug on the roof, which makes Pinky's one of the most recognizable landmarks in the whole Queen City.
By 2013, Pinky's opened a second location in Huntersville, just north of Charlotte. Less than two years later, Pinky's Westside Grill was featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" with celebrity cook Guy Fieri.
