The issue with Classic Sonic games Is that once youre good at one of them, you're good at them all. So i feel Manía being considered Easy Is just because it came so many years later so people are skilles enough to breeze through it
Yeah I agree, I never got a chance to play the Classics when I was younger so Mania was really my first exposure to that kind of game design. Thankfully my first ever Sonic game was Generations which meant I already knew how Classic worked.
WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE THE NEW SONIC GAME COMING UP NEXT. IMPERATOR IX IS GOING TO RETURN IN THAT NEW GAME TO ERAISE SONIC THE HEDGEHOG AND HIS FRIENDS AND ALL PEOPLE. AND IMPERATOR IX WILL BE THE MOST POWERFUL VILLAIN IN GINAL BATTLE JUST LIKE IMPERATOR IX WAS IN THE FIRST FINAL BOSS FIGHT BEFORE HE WAS DEFEAYED BY SONIC AND NOW SONIC WILL DEFINITELY DEFEAT IMPERATOR IX AGAIN IN THE FINAL BATTLE AND FACE HIM IN THE FINAL BOSS AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN AMD AGAIN AND AGAIN NO MORE EGGMAN BEING THE MOST POWERFULLL FINAL BATTLE TIME FOR IMPERATOR IX TO BE THE MOST POWERFUL FINAL BATTLE SO WHAT DO YOU SAY YOU WANT IMPERATOR IX TO RETURN IN THE NEW SONIC GAME FOR SONIC TO DEFEAT IX IN THE FINAL BATTLE
Um Yeah And Let Me Tell You This IMPERATOR IX CREATED THE Phantom Ruby To Make Sonic's Life Sufferable And IMPERATOR IX WILL RETURN in The New Game After He Meets Sonic in The Final Horizon And Then He Won't DEFEAT Ix But He'll Defeat His Creation The Final Titan
Relatable, the same thing happened to me with a different Sonic game, it took me 4 years to finish Sonic Colors because I kept stopping playing it because of how boring it would get multiple times, I'm pretty sure it would have taken an extra year or two if it wasn't for the remaster coming out, which made me force myself into finishing it
6:42 If I had a dollar for every time a youtube mistakenly calls the auto-scroller in Classic Sonic's final level a side-scroller, I'd have two dollars. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
It definitely is Forces as the game has the habit of playing itself, Generation and Colours at least have some mild difficulty in there later levels that can challenge more causal gamers. The classic games are a lot harder then most 3D Sonic games especially considering they were meant to be beaten without save files and without getting a game over, not to mention there bs level design at certain points. As for Frontiers it isn’t hard to beat the Titans or most of the guardians or to explore the islands but some of the puzzles that are required can be challenging (Kronos and Chaos) and same can be said for some cyberspace stages (3-6 for an example) and then there’s Extreme Mode and The End’s Fight, so it is average with difficulty.
To be fair, there are some aspects on Frontiers that would stop me from really calling it "easy" Traversal in Ares and especially Chaos island can get a bit complicated because they're so big (the map being a bit disorienting too). And Ourhanos padded out the island by having to collect almost every single memory token in the island, and unless you start farming items at Big's fishing, these islands can be a bit complicated to complete. I don't think Frontiers is easy, but that's due to the game being extremely unbalanced in many of it's systems instead of being challenging for all the right reasons like Unleashed. Anyways great video Matt!!
Huh, maybe it's because I took it at a more relaxed pace than the others but Ourhanos felt really fun for me, I didn't have to collect anywhere CLOSE to all the tokens on the island (and I actually never used Big's fishing game at all on my first playthrough). I think the main issue with the final islands (Chaos, Rhea, and Ourhanos) is that at that point most people start blitzing though and end up getting a bit of burnout, making the experience feel like it drags on. I Hate The Caterpillar Boss Though.
@@snoot1871 I tend to be very patient, when I look at Ourhanos from the most objective standpoint, I could easily say that Ourhanos is the most complete island, combat requires you to use your brain a bit more and traversal was very smooth unlike Chaos. But it being basically Kronos again, with far less interesting story segments *really* messed up my first impressions. But when playing it now, with expectations low, I think that Ourhanos and even the game as a whole is fairly fun, even tought balance is all over the place, and it really not feeling worth 60 bucks.
Oh yeah I completely agree, it's basically Kronos but bigger and with harder enemies, the tokens for Sage are the same as the ones for Amy, objectively one could argue that it's kinda bland, but I Had already known about that beforehand so I didn't mind nearly as much as some others did. Subjectively I actually really like it.
I found Titanic monarch in Sonic Mania to be somewhat hard on my first playthrough back in 2017, but I do agree it's the easiest of the classics since I've actually completed that game multiple times with the lives system, while I needed the infinite lives of sonic origins to actually get to the end of the classics
I actually disagree. I find titanic monarch harder than death egg, mostly because titanic monarch us too big. It's a very elaborate zone and by the tine I reach it I'm already feeling fatigued from the other 11 zones I just played. Titanic monarch nay be more forgiving but death egg is more condensed, gets to yhe point
For Classic Sonic I gotta say that Mania is the easiest. For modern probably either Forces of Gens honestly. Goated video! Love the content on this channel
@@MrNeedleM0use Speaking as someone who recently played Sonic 1 as their first Sonic game (with savestates, but only to be able to play in multiple sessions and to keep my rings for special stages, and only saved at checkpoints; once I got all the emeralds, I stopped), the only parts of Labyrinth I can recall being hard are the latter half of Act 1 and the boss in Act 3. Everything else was fine. That boss can go burn in hell though. If I wasn't using savestates, I would've probably had to replay the game up to that point like 3 times *_just_* because of this stupid rising water climb.
Despite being easy games, I still enjoy the snot out of all of them, even Forces to certain extents. I remember struggling with the Classic games a lot when I was younger, but after playing Mania and Generations, which I struggled with at the time as well, I got better and managed to eventually beat my first Genesis Era game, that being Sonic 2 from what I recall. I think the only game here that I didn't struggle with on my first playthrough was Sonic Colors. Yes, I struggled more on Forces than Colors when I first played it. I remember being up at night with my brother trying to beat the final boss of Forces. At this time, I was relatively new to the series, so I struggled with pretty much every Sonic game I could get my hands on. I think the reason why I didn't struggle with Colors when first playing it is because, at that point, I've been a Sonic fan for years, so I've had enough experiences with the games to know what I could be getting myself into, although probably not as many years as a lot of other Sonic fans have. Anyway, congrats on the green screen, Matt! I can't wait to see what you cook up now that you have it! Not that your content wasn't already good as it is...
I think many of us don't find mania difficult because of where we were when it came out, we grew up playing classic sonic for instance for the Sonic Symphony, i wanted my friend to play all the mainline games and he had a bit of a rough time with mania
Not to argue but in Forces, that Avatar level has the Hover Wisp already unlocked, so basically you can fly without engaging with any of the platforming.
Hate to say it but it’s either Generations in terms of ranking (tho who cares that’s like the least of the criticism when the game is still just pure fun) Forces or Colors in terms of level design and skill ceiling
I wouldn't really say pinball in Frontiers is challenging, but moreso annoying. The ball sometimes decides it wants to be nice and other times decides to remove your multiplier by falling down to the bottom and you have no way to prevent that at times. And let's not forget about that point requirement, kinda wish the point requirement was changed depending on difficulty. Also pretty sure someone mentioned this already, but the original Sonic 3 had a save system and I'm pretty sure getting a game over just set you back to the beginning of the zone just like Mania. (also also while Classic Sonic controls horribly in Forces I am very much wanting to just say "skill issue" to the deaths in Iron Fortress)
For me, Sonic Generations is hard to 100%, because of ONE challenge. In the challenge, you race Classic Sonic in Act 1 of Green Hill. Completing it is no problem, but getting the S rank was EXCRUCIATING. You have to have some speedrunner skills in order to get S rank. Every time I landed on the ground, I had to do a spindash by mashing the Z key, while holding down (Which is what I have it set to on the keyboard), since holding X (or charging up a spindash automatically) would not provide me with enough speed. And when I did get the S rank, it was less than a second away from being an A rank.
Nice vid Matt. Also to answer your question about the Pinball Machine in Sonic Frontiers, it wasn't hard it just dragged on for far too freaking long other then that Frontiers is still a fun game and i can't wait for Update 3😎
Sonic generations. It's so short and I can't remember I singal part I had problems in. There's not even side quests or an open world to get confused with.
Times like this I feel like I’m such an average player.😂😅 Seeing the classic Sonic games, Sonic Mania, and Sonic Frontiers on here just blows my mind. I understand that there are experts out there with those games but they can be hard at times for me, I’m just saying. Lol
The difficulty of Sonic games is determined not by the fact of passing them, but by how difficult it is to pass the levels without errors (never losing the rings / never falling into the abyss, without slowing down and stopping, without crashing into walls and not failing platforming while using the fastest route). In the classic 1-ring immortality was intentional so that even the most beginners could learn and enjoy the game, but it wasn't meant to be the true way to play, shields are in the game for a reason and losing all rings in 1 hit and counting them at the end of the level is proof of that. You will be surprised how difficult Mania is when going through at a high pace without losing rings and the pleasure of this style of game just on another level.
The hardest out of this list in my opinion is sa1 because of the lost world stage and big the cats gameplay as a whole which is still the only story I need to get the last story, but I think that will change once I play the game again (off topic I know)
En realidad ese nivel es facil de sacarle el rango s, lo malo es que rompe con la idea de tomar la ruta de mejores reflejos para llegar más rápido Pero en si no es difícil En realidad ninguno de los niveles del cyberspace creo que lo sea
UFO chases weren't too tough for me, but man, fk those blue sphere challenges for unlockables. >_> Hate them and it's why I never 100%ed Mania's unlockables.
Valid opinion. I’d still say it’s forces to be the easiest. Especially when you consider 100 percent completion of the game. The S ranks are probably some of the easiest and the gens missions can actually be a little difficult to S rank on some of them
100% of Forces is quite hard. Some numbers and moons are quite tricky and some achievements are grindy (collecting rings, leveling Avatar species). There are some speedrunning missions which are quite hard. I had more issues with 100% of Forces than Generations.
Bro is making an "Easiest Sonic game" video and puts Sonic Mania in the thumbnail. I've had that game for almost three years and still haven't beaten it.
I took more time on the final boss of Forces than the auto scroll section lmao, And then Titanic Monarch, IT TOOK ME SO GODDAMN LONG! I have no idea how long it took me to beat act 2
I guess I just suck at classic Sonic games cause I quit Mania at Titanic Monarch. Hate that stage. Don't even get me started on all the bullshit in the Genesis games.
Dude Sonic Mania is so hard I regret wasting 9€ on it. Ofc it’s ez for u, u play like every sonic for 1000 hours but it’s literally impossible to get into these games
I've checked it out. I have Spark on the backburner currently in terms of content. I want to talk about it someday eventually. I have the perfect video idea for it, I just haven't found the right time.
The easiest Sonic game is Sonic Forces. It plays itself so much that I’m not sure it actually counts as a video game. The hardest Sonic game is Sonic 2 8-Bit. It’s a kaizo hack masquerading as a Sonic game.
Before finishing the video I'd say sonic forces Edit: after watching the video i disagree but i completely understand and respect your opinion and yeah the pinball minigame was frustrating to many people
For me the easiest Sonic game is Sonic Chaos. The hardest that I've beaten is either Sonic 2 or Sonic 06, and some of the hardest that I could never beat is Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic Riders, and Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. Also the pinball part of Frontiers was easily the worst and hardest part for me, you just got lucky
Sonic & The Black Knight is my easiest Sonic Game. (Yes I consider the storybook games mainline) You can just brute force your way through everything. Forces & Generations come damn close tho…
These Sonic games that you Mentioned in this Video I Agree With. I honestly think that the Classic Sonic games are honestly pretty Easy. I definitely think there are Times were the Classic Sonic games were Kinda hard but when your a Pro at Classic Sonic games. Sonic forces is definitely a game that is Way to Easy and Sonic Forces is Probably one of the Easiest Sonic Game Ever. Sonic Forces is a Game that can be beaten very quickly. The Final Levels of Sonic Forces are definitely hard ones. The final Classic Sonic Stage in Sonic Forces was Just Difficult. The Final Avatar level is definitely Hard. I Honestly don’t think that Sonic Frontiers is a Easy Game to beat the Final Boss fight in Sonic Frontiers was pretty hard. I honestly think that SA1 was a pretty Easy Game in my opinion. Sonic Mania and Sonic Colors are very easy and Generations is kinda Easy but Sonic Colors is Easy. It’s definitely hard to get a S Rank in Sonic Colors. Nice Green Screen)
Guessing before the vid, its gotta be forces. That game is literally on rails Edit: yeah I still think forces is easier than generations and colors. But hey thats just my opinion
Forces is hands down the EASIEST Sonic game. Idc if the difficulty jumps up a bit at the end, those levels are STILL easy compared to any other Sonic game
The fact that you had to clarify that because these games are the easiest games in the franchise doesn't mean they're bad really tells me and the rest of us who watched this video how stupidly and overly diverse the Sonic fan community can really be now doesn't it?
Sonic Heroes because you beat the exact same game 4 times over, 8 times for 100% completion. I know right? Westopolis how could yo- What do you mean "wrong game"?
Jokes aside, Generations has it here. Endless boost + X = Win. And rings and enemies are placed so frequently that even without Endless Boost, the hardest part of the game is the time eater because you actually have to try to win. I got less time in Generations on Steam than I do EVERY other Sonic game and I have 100% achievements in Generations and Forces and Sonic 2, but no other Sonic game. Forces only took longer because I got bored mid-stage and often Alt, F4'd my way to something more entertaining.

@@BlueEyedVibeChecker it's serious. I also love Sonic Colors Ultimate, even tho the OG sonic colors is getting hated on nowadays (Also, my sibling loves Forces, since its easy. He doesn't really like Unleashed, as he finds it hard. He doesn't really play Sonic games tho. Btw, he's in the 9th grade) He also has autism, but we all have autism(well, my dad, me, and my siblings do) But for me, I also have ADHD anyways, all of this information is to provide more context to what I said earlier. ALSO also, he loves the Cyberspace gameplay! Finally, he's so surprised that I extremely good at Sonic! He even beat some of my old? records on Forces! (Also, im in my 2nd semester, as a college freshman) Also, my other siblings loves Sonic! He plays Sonic 1, 2, CD, 4 Ep. 2, Dash 1 and 2, (and in the past)past, Sonic Runners, Sonic Forces Speed Battle and Sonic Jump Fever!
I mean the pinball mini game was hard if you’re not good at playing any pinball games. I wouldn’t say I suck at them, since it only took me like two-four times to beat that mini game 😅. I’d say the only thing I hated about the pinball mini game is because it reminded me of sonic spinball and the sonic pinball party on the gba, but easier 🤔.
We don't need to pin point the easiest sonic game, it's obvious which game is the easiest: forces. I mean, the game plays itself half the time. Gens can't be the easiest bc of both crisis city acts and both planet wisp acts.
Didn't Sonic CD have a save system in some way? Not sure, I only played the 2011 one but honestly, I feel as if it's the easiest. Without trying to do the good endings and stuff, just going from point A to point B is such a cake walk. The bosses have never given me issues, either. All be it, Wacky Workbench is annoying, but hard? I don't think we can go there.
It always had a save system. The pre-2011 version worked like in 3K and Mania where you restart the zone on getting a game over. It wasn’t as intuitive since the saves were in a separate menu, but it’s still more than what the first two Genesis games had.
For me its gotta be Sonic Forces. 2 levels does not make it any less braindead. I feel the other boost games should not be on this list due to the learning curve of mastering the boost. I am a master now. But first going into Unleashed or Generations? Not talking ranking but just not dying due to how fast you're going. Plus Gens does have its share of death pits. Im ok with Colors as that is not nearly as boost heavy as the choice here. But for my money its Forces without a doubt. Frontiers is easy too but some of the platforming sections can get tricky and Rhea island is more challenging then anything in Forces. But yea for the most part all Sonic games are easy lol. Its the fun and mastering your runs that counts
